I want to buy a hand held vacuum cleaner. I have to buy a big one eventually as the one we have now has provisionally taped hose and there are no replacement parts left for it, but i have decided to get a new big one- bag-less - when i use up the vacuum cleaner bags i still have for the old one. That might take a few months. No problem with that. Decision has been made. It is here where i ask those who have both, do you actually use the hand-held vacuum cleaners, and if yes, anything I should know if i do decide to buy one? I have done without one thus far ( 4 decades of housecleaning ) but I am loathe to alway have to drag the big one out for a few crumbs on floor. (I will take out little pan and brush for that) So, is it worth it? The one i saw in a shop here was 49 Euros, quite powerful and could scoop up water spills also. I haven't seen any for sale at local auction place here.

Ramatama, I am going to buy a new hand-held vacuum. I love them. I have some arthritis in my wrists and hands, so I prefer a lightweight one. They are great for cleaning up small spills, bits of dirt, etc., that the dogs track in, and for sweeping up crumbs, etc., off the kitchen counters. The ones that come with attachments are great for getting into small crevices and corners where regular vacuums and attachments are unwieldy.
Yesterday, I went to the drug store to pick up some prescriptions. I wandered around the store while I was waiting, but only bought the three things on my list: mouthwash, a phone card, and a small magnifying mirror. I was fingering the hula hoops (good exercise and I love them), when a saleslady came by and said, "Don't you need a hula hoop?" I told her no, but that they are fun. I also want a kite but haven't gotten one (yet).

Yesterday I bought a black tunic top to replace one that has faded - it will go out And today - I was so excited- when I got home there was a package on the porch - my new black cowboy boots!!!!! www.sheplers.com/Cowboy-Boots-Shoes/Womens-Boots-Shoes/Cowgirl-Boots/Cowgirl-Boots-Old-West-Corona-leather-medium-toe-boots/pc/448/c/459/sc/460/1375.proThey fit perfect and look great. I bought a brown pair last year and I just love them. I am really impressed with the service from this place. I ordered the boots on Sunday evening and they arrived today (Friday) and I live all the way on the other side of the world. The price of postage was almost as much as the boots but it still make them good value. I will get rid of at least 2 pair of boots to make way for these.

Thats a great price for leather boots razy, well done for being ready to throw 2 pairs out. well done for sticking to your list seashell moonglow well done for staying strong and not buying I had a vip slot for a popular online sale yesterday, put a few bits in my basket, towels and a picture frame, but talked myself out of it before checking out and didn't buy anything, saved £20 yay Craft magazine from ebay turned up yesterday so I cleared 2 clutter piles of paperwork and a small box that was full of junk. Have to add the mag is nice enough, but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd have flicked through it in a shop first so will have to stay off ebay on a Sunday morning as it seems to be an impulse time for me.

I just called to refill a prescription after I go to aqua therapy. While I am out and about I will: -pick up pres and check to see if i have any refills on another -buy some vegies and meat at the grocery store, -check my PO box, cancel the 2nd PO box that I got for a couple of projects that I am not going to be able to start soon, -go to the Credit Union and change my address, -and stop by the Artesian well to fill up my jugs with free spring water where it is tested regularly. I have been feeling awful lately and have stayed at home for a whole week so I will pace myself. I have not been spending online, either. Ha! Later I am going to try on an armload of summer blouses and tops that are too cool for winter. I lost a few pounds and some are too big. Take care.

Daye, I loved your story about the flowered shirt! As far as the brochures, I was careful to pick up only the ones that applied directly to related places my parents want to go or to areas of study that I want to follow up on. Once these things are completed and I am done with the brochures, I will pass them on either to my dad or my nephew (both Civil War buffs). Thanks for the accountability. That helps a lot.

RAZY, I LOVE the boots! That's a very nice Western store. And a terrific price! Good for getting rid of the old ones. Womble, good for not succumbing to the online sale! And good for getting rid of other things when the magazine arrived! That was way more than "one in, two out!" Good work! Also, I have noticed that often, when I buy on line, I am disappointed wth what I get. Like your magazine, often I would not have bought it if I had seen it in person first. Starflower sorry you are feeling awful. Take care of yourself! And good sticking to your list! Seashell, brochures may not be a problem for you like they are for me, and anyway, you sound like you have a good plan for them!

After having lunch with my friend, we went to WalMart. I rarely go there--it's so big and intimidating, but I thought that, with my friend there, I would be ok. I shopped as fast as I could, wanting to get out of there before I got too overwhelmed. The only non-food items (besides TP and detergent) I got were:
1. a tube of SPF 70 sunscreen (I burn just walking my dogs) 2. a small answering machine, since people are tired of not being able to reach me.
So that wasn't too bad, I think, especially since I've been home the past two days and didn't even think about buying anything online.

I went to a small store and bought fewer vegies than I wanted since one of the store's refrigerators was on the blink and they had fewer items available. I splurged on a little sour cream and salsa for taco salads. I also picked up the prescription and then went to Radio Shack and spent $22 on cables to use with my headset and computer to try to override the dang tinnitus and get some work done. I did not plan on buying them today, but had them in mind. I also want an MP3 or DVD player but the store only had expensive ones so I did not get any and did not feel like going to Walmart. I was pretty sore from aqua therapy and felt I could not stay focused on buying only one thing... Oh, I went ahead and closed the credit union account since never used it for the project I had planned and I am planning to move away later this year. I have another bank account I use regularly anyway. I did not close the extra PO box since I need to find the other key first. grrr. I will say that I did try to go to a free clothing place but it was closed. I was sort of upset about glitches about closing my accnt at the Credit Union, and my back hurt really bad, and I do need some summer blouses since I lost a few pounds recently. I acknowledged that I felt like a splurge and did not beat myself up about it. Well, the place was closed! I did stop at the Dollar General on the way home and got a pint of ice cream and a $2 blouse from the discount rack that was outside the store where I could not miss it. *sigh* I should not have planned to do anything after aqua therapy since I can be really sore afterward, but I always hope I will feel better and I really needed to get some things done. I am not going back since they agreed it was only making my back worse with spasms. I do not feel I over did it today financially, but really did not need the ice cream. Thanks for the thread, it is really helping me to understand some of the chatter that goes on inside my head and distracts me. Take care.

Starflower, I don't know how you got so much done with your back hurting like that. When I get spasms, it shuts me down. Sorry the fridge was broken at the store and that the clothing place was closed, but you did get some things done! (And personally, I consider ice cream a necessity. )
