Clocker here...
I was a member of the old forums with this same user name. I was making such good progress... but then I had a relapse. I was too ashamed to post about it. But, here I go again, a little over a year since I last posted in the old place.
I have a sign posted on my door, so I see it when I leave, "Not without a bag or a box!"
My place is abysmal, a total mess. It just drains me to look at it, but now (at least for now) it drains me more to live in it.
Since I put up that little sign, now I can at least walk without having to shove trash out of the way. I don't know why I can't just be neat and tidy!

- Hi, I remember you. This is completely off-topic. but I remember we discussed cars. Slant-6 engines or something. Welcome back! I have a sign posted on my door, so I see it when I leave, "Not without a bag or a box!" Excellent idea! -

Wow! That is a fantastic memory you have, we only talked a little bit about that...
It's going to take me a while to read up on these new boards. Staying in the right frame of mind to clean it up is my biggest concern.
I was making steady progress before, then just stopped. A decade worth of mess, then 5 months of cleanup, then another year of total mess... I just want to pack it all up, throw it all away, and start over. If there was a pill I could take to make that happen, I'd do it.

Welcome back, clocker!
CL_SS is right, the sign is a great idea. I aim to throw out a certain amount each day, and it does help some. Still, I skip out too often. If you actually get a bag or box out each day, it will get done.
Now that you are back, don't be a stranger .

Welcome back, Clocker. And although you sound very discouraged, getting all that trash out one day at a time is awesome progress. Yay for you!
I think that it is a good plan to post here in good times and bad. Someone always encouraged me, even when I felt I could not go on. I think that has been essential to reclaiming my home.

Welcome back, Clocker. I really like your sign idea. I think I will try it myself! Don't be too hard on yourself. Yes, you had a relapse, but you got back up and are fighting the squalor again. That makes you a winner in my book.

Thanks everyone for the welcome back messages. I feel for everyone that comes here... We all have such a debilitating issue that robs us of happiness, and I am happy that this community exists.
