copied over from report made at ProBoards Support (so we can keep track) 1) The URL to the page you are on when the bug occurred. takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/post/337458then, takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/conversation/new/31702) What happened, in detail? While searching for a post from a deleted member account (happened just yesterday, after she created a second account when she couldn't get in with her original account), I noticed that the "Send PM" link was below the deleted member's name. I decided to try and see what would happen if I tried to use the "Send PM" function for a deleted member. I clicked the link and was taken to the Create Message box. I created a message and clicked the Create Message button on the bottom right and it appears to have been sent. To an account that has been deleted! The message appears in my outbox with only me listed as a recipient, so I don't know if a message was actually sent to the deleted account. It certainly did not appear in m own inbox, BTW. 3) What do you think should have happened instead? First I expect there NOT to be a "Send PM" link below a deleted member. Second, I expect that an error message would occur when sending a message to an account that supposedly does not exist. 4) Can you reproduce this on every pageview? N/A 5) What browser, version, and operating system are you using? Chrome 25.0.1364.152 m Firefox 19.0.2 OS: Windows Vista 6) Please attach a screen shot (JPG or PNG -- not GIF or BMP) if it is relevant

Michael Stone at ProBoards Support is on it. Another user mentioned being able pull up deleted members in another area and Michael added that to our bug report, too, as they seem to be related.
Thread at PB Support here.

This does not appear to be fixed.
Even though I can no longer even search for deleted members, which I DID like to be able to do, I can still send a PM from a link on the mini-profile included in the post remaining on the forum as posted by the former member.

The PM link on the miniprofile was the result of a code I added in Beta testing. The purpose was to recreate the ability to send a PM directly from a person's miniprofile next to their posts. Apparently, this code has no way of determining if a member has deleted their account. If someone clicks the PM link to a deleted member, they can apparently send them a PM, but in fact, it disappears into the ether of the internet. This issue, combined with the fact that PMing members from posts is still possible with the default setting and that every modification has the potential to cause bugs and interfere with ProBoards updates, is the reason the 'Send pm' link has been deleted from miniprofiles. In the future, to send a PM to a member, used the gear icon in the upper right corner of their post to locate 'Member' > 'Send Message'.

Oh, no! This was one of the features in v5 that I really liked. Please reconsider. How often does one want to send a PM to a deleted member as compared to an active one? There was something nice about responding to an avatar, making me more likely to do it.
