If you don't have much time to sort the laundry, or do loads, take them all to the laundromat for one big cleaning. If you can't do that right now, put some of the excess in the trunk of the car, and take it to the laundromat after the crisis is over.
Like so many of us, it sounds like you just have way too many clothes, and i'm not being mean, just letting you know, and it includes me, most of us just don't need that much.
It's good to have you here, good luck, i know you can do this!

Sounds like things are coming'on great. If the mess is off the floors I would keep using the rug doctor with doors and windows open. Keep going....

Hiding it is a great idea. She even wrote in her report that our cars were dirty. Which is just stupid to me. But we are worried she is angry because the first time she came to our home, I refused access to the kids and house for her. I told her to get a court order, I knew the house was too bad. So now she is just itching to take the kids away for even the smallest reason. I mean her first visit was over 2 month ago and it took her two months to get an order! I honestly didn't think she would get one. But I'm scared now. We talk to a lawyer on Thursday and I hope that helps.

The support here is amazing, all of your ideas make me pumped up to get this done. I've already cleared almost the entire bottom floor! I just need to do about 2 more hours of work down there and shampoo the carpets. thank you, thank you, thank you! And you bet your buttons I will be back for help getting our day to day stuff under control . I'm also a full time student and my husband works in surgery so our time is limited and any way that we can get things done quickly is a lifesaver for us. Congrats on all you've done so far, anonsally! Keep going, you're doing great!

Just curious, you don't need to answer, what made her come over in the first place? Was it just because of the house?

If you have that many clothes, can you go to a laundromat and do them all at once? If not make easy loads; all the adult jeans, then all the kid jeans, then just towels. If everything in the load is the same, you only need to go in one room to put them away. It really saves me a lot of time

How did it go today? I hope you managed to get through most of it. What day is your trash day? Are your u hiring a private trash company to come take the extra stuff or are you near a dump you take it to. Someone on here said they ripped up a carpet today as the pee had gone through and I don,t think she or he could save it. How did your carpets come out?

Anon, You said you cant get rid of the urine smell. Is it carpeted area? Anywhere in particular or all over? The problem with urine is it goes into the foam pads underneath the carpet, and typically that needs to be ripped out, then the surface underneath cleaned and new foam put in to really get rid of the smell.
And is this your home or a rental?
You can always pull up sections and remove the foam, its not too expensive I believe and purchase some new foam, still clean the carpet, but get rid of the icky stuff underneath if its possible, or if there are concentrated areas, focus there.

Just curious, you don't need to answer, what made her come over in the first place? Was it just because of the house? She said there was a report that our house was messy and we don't feed our kids (which is bullocks, WIC just told me they were too fat). And she said the police had to come mediate arguments with my husband and I? Which has never happened EVER. She could even see that from the police records. I think my neighbor doesn't like me

Took a break from downstairs to try to clean the pee smell bedroom. I can't get the smell out, I can't pull the carpet because its plywood underneath. I think it could be the walls too so I'm going to wash those. I stocked the fridge with healthy food and made a meal plan today too. I needed a break from cleaning. It drains so much out of me.

anonsally I am glad you talked to a lawyer. It sounds like the caseworker has a bit of an attitude. I was told to make an appt. with a psychologist or psychiatrist (they gave me the name) for personality testing or else they would apprehend the baby. When I talked to the psych on the phone he was very demeaning. I got scared and got a lawyer. She said to call and cancel the appt. then she called the social worker. He had the nerve to say he never said anything about apprehending the baby. Too bad I didn't get it on tape. It cost me quite a bit of money for the lawyer but it was well worth it.

Good luck Annonsally! Prayers are with you. One thing for smell - CINNAMON. Either boil cinnamon sticks or heat a tablespoon of ground cinnamon. I've even sprinkled a teaspoon full at the bottom of the oven, so when the oven heats up you have a nice smell everywhere, but with CPS that may not be the best for your case. I would heat it on the stove in a pan. It makes it smell like you've been baking. And it covers pee smell. And the Febreeze Gain room plugs I have found are really strong and impart a good clean smell everywhere if you can get those... But the cinnamon is a very easy thing to do.

scribbliz, has had some luck reducing the smell in her apartment, I'm not sure how she did it, so I'm ear burning her. I know she ended up replacing her DD's mattress, as the smell was bad there, I don't know what kind of condition yours are in, maybe treat them with bakingsoda, or a recommended odour absorber, I'm not sure which ones are good, but there is a thread about it, around somewhere.

Best of luck, Sally! I work for an agency that provides support to parents who are in challenging situations. Here's what we recommend that families prioritize when cleaning for CPS (but keep in mind that everything is still kind of subject to the whims of whoever comes out to do the inspection): (1) Basic care for the child: food, clothing, shelter, a place to sleep. (Quite frankly, if these elements were missing, we'd have already hotlined the family ourselves). (2) Basic child-proofing to prevent injury: poisons, medications, window-blind cords, dangerous implements, etc. (3) Basic cleaning to prevent illness: especially with toddlers, who put everything in their mouths and their mouths on everything, stuff within their reach needs to be washed. And (4) Scope for appropriate development: they need room to move around, they need objects to explore and play with, they need sensible limits that keep them safe but still allow them to be kids, and so on.

hey; bwbb tagged me about reducing the smells my apartment; here's some things that I have done. 1, vaccuum carpets, then sprinkle with baking soda (or a product like pet fresh) and vacuum again. 2, steam cleaning carpets helps quiet a lot with the smell. 3, replacing matresses for all three of my daughters (my oldest has a problem with wetting the bed...she is now in underjams, but there was a lot of left over smell)...you can also use products like baking soda here, but i haven't actually tried it. 4, removing garbage right away, and not just bagging it up, but taking it out to the bin. it's a habit that i really, really need to work on. 5, make sure dishes are at least rinsed off, and pots should be washed quickly (again, a habbit i need to create). 6, light candles. even non-scented candles will cut the smell in a home by huge amounts. and 7, open windows whenever you can.
those are things I've done to cut the smell in my home.
