My son's computer used to be compatible with chat but now it's not. I hope it's able to be compatible again very soon as I miss chat! We need a new update of something or other. We've had some computer issues lately and I don't want to install something that's going to mess things up worse.

tnmimi, Look in your browser's menu for "add-ons" or "plug-ins" and then make sure the newly-installed java is ENABLED.

Systems can sometimes have multiple installations of java. Even if you have installed the latest java (currently Java 7 Update 51) older installations will sometimes not allow it to work properly. If using a Windows OS go to your control panel and remove any older installations of java. This might help. Oricale also has an older java removal tool located at java.com/en/download/faq/remove_olderversions.xml

Currently you will need java to use the chat.
