CelesteBy the way, now that we've been one year and two weeks on the new version of proboards -- I'm finally getting around to telling you this ... In new (v.5) proboards, the Ladybug theme scrolls so much faster than all the other themes. (whereas they were all equally paced in the prior (v.4) version of proboards). There are some colored themes I prefer and I used them on the old proboards, but they scroll slower or choppier with the new version of proboards. So for the past year, I've stayed with Ladybug. Note I use Windows 7 and Firefox -- and throughout the past year, I've always used whatever is the most recent version of Firefox at the time. (I get their upgrade/update notifications and implement them right away). I do have other browsers, but I generally only use them for occasional things. I haven't tried testing the entire forum experience in all the themes in all my browsers.

This was a puzzler, Lion.
All of the images are stored in the same place on a ProBoards server, not Photobucket, like it was with v4.5. That should actually speed rendering time up.
That said, some themes have heavier modifications to ProBoards' original layout, so I wondered if file size of the theme was an issue. It was an interesting concept except that checking theme file sizes revealed that Ladybug was NOT the smallest. Cool Beige, Limes, Green Satin Damask and Pink Roses are all smaller.
The only thing that comes to mind is that it may be a caching issue. Your computer has stored elements of the Ladybug theme locally. When you switch themes, it has to download elements of the new theme from the internet until it too is cached. There will be a lag time until that is done.

hmm. Okay, interesting.
Pink Roses was one of the themes I liked on v4.
In the past year, I've kept a lot of browser tabs open and loaded -- due to researching solutions to my critical situation (which I won't mention here on the tech forum). Having ready access to some sites has helped me.
Therefore, I have very rarely cleared my firefox cache -- in the past year I've often let it sit for more than a month.
For privacy/safety reasons, I clear the cookies, passwords, and log-ins twice daily; but not the cache.
This is fascinating. In the old days, I used to clear my cache daily. My habits changed about a year ago. This explains a lot.
Next time I completely clear my cache, I'll try one of the colored themes and see what happens!
