Thanks, that's a great article, especially the concept of the dark playground. That's a really apt description. For me, a big part of the problem is this urge to multi-task in a way that mixes leisure activities and work. Tasks I have the most trouble with are the ones that have a lot of downtime, like laundry. I put a load in, and then rationalize myself into doing something "fun" while waiting for the machine. Then all of the sudden hours have passed and all I've achieved is a wet load of laundry.

I particularly like the pictures. And now, when I'm starting to procrastinate, I ask myself: "Do I really want to be steered by that monkey?". I love it.

I can see why WITS has been working for me so well. Making specific, achievable lists of things to do leaves no room to do anything else (or nothing).
I'm going to go and list 3 things right now!

Terrific article. I think the tip to 'create a panic monster' for important tasks will stay with me.

I love pictures and characters that make concepts come alive in my brain.

I went to that site and read through it just a month and a day ago. And now I was reminded of it again by reading a post "I was s'posed to ignore." Now, I have energy to tackle that kitchen cabinet, after I go buy some brakes for my son's friend to put on the car.
