Hi--I created my introduction as a Word document. Is it possible to paste a copy of it into a forum thread I create? I appreciate your help.

Perhaps Ctrl C to Copy & Ctrl V to Paste will help!

yetipants - hello and welcome! Yes, it's possible. In general you can copy paste text pretty much without difficulties between different computer and internet based platforms. When you copy something, your computer saves it temporarily into it's short term memory and you can paste it to another document, another program or on a webbased text field, like the text editor here at this forum. If you have used special fonts, colours, etc, those do not get copied and you are only going to be pasteing plain text. If you want, you can always use colours etc on this text editor. It's also good to double check that paragraphs break at correct spots, sometimes things like that get messed up (it's difficult to read long text without breaks).

Here's what I've tried:
Select all text in Word document and click "copy"
Start a new thread on SOOS, right click in text box, and select "paste".
Nothing happens.
I appreciate your help!

yetipants I'm sorry, that goes beyond my knowledge, unfortunately. For me this works fine, I even just tested it again, and copied something from a word-document and tried to paste it in a new thread at test board. I don't know any reasons for normal copy/paste to not to work. We propably need our moderators, who know about computers, for this (unofrtunately I think our computer guru Celeste has been taking some time off lately). To help them, you could type down what kind of computer you have (PC, Chromebook, Mac), your operating system and version (Linux, Windows [what Windows: Vista, 8, etc], Mac, etc. Also what browser you are using and if it's up to date. And maybe even if the text document has been written with Microsoft Office Word or with other program. Information like this can help solve the problem. I go through the steps of copy/pasting once more, even though I am sure you are familiar with them. This works with Windows, I don't know about others? 1) activate your word document by clicking it and choose all the text by pressing CTRL and A (text will be highlighted) 2) click CTRL and C at the same time 3) come to SOOS, create a new thread 4) activate the SOOS text editor by clicking it and press CTRL and V at the same time 5) to my understanding the text should appear at the text editor now It's just some idea from thin air, than maybe you could test can you paste that text on other word document, or to text document (from .doc or .docx to .txt). If you can paste it to .txt (text) document, can you copy/paste from that to SOOS text editor? Just a silly and very non-technical idea Hope you'll get it to work and/or someone else will be able to help!

Maybe I missed something, but I do it all the time. I seldom write out anything long not being in Word.. Just highlight it, copy it and paste to wherever you want to re post it? Go simple.
This is an easy way to not lose your posts on line or anything your write. You can do it on a Mac also, use Pages. Which is word processing program, as is Word!~

yetipants, I'm not sure why you can't get the text to copy and paste from Word. It should paste, but without any formatting. Are you using the BBCode tab or the Preview tab?

I made it work. For some reason, when I clicked "BBCode" at the bottom of the text box, it let me paste my Word document. Hurray!
Thanks for all your help!
