I'm on Vista, using Chrome as my browser and have just updated to the latest Java (8.25) and still have no chat, help please! I've tried to troubleshoot per java's website but I still get a white box, sometimes with the loading circle, sometimes not, but no chat. I can't go back to IE as that's irreparably borked on my computer since last week and a nasty malware incident.
Is there any way around this? Actual fixes or work-arounds welcome. I miss my fellow chatters, and they're all that gets me moving, some days.

Have you tried switching to another browser? Install Firefox, you can run both, not have to give up Chrome, and see if that works! My other suggestion, is to uninstall Chrome off your computer, and then reinstall it, from Chrome website. Not from your computer version.. a new one of their website. You just did an update, remove it and do it again.
If you can chat in Firefox, then you know that it probably Chrome. Reinstalling any browser sometimes "fixes" whatever is missing. The other suggestion is to make sure you are up to date with any new updates with your computer, browsers etc.
I want to keep this simple, but the other suggestion is, and depends on how comfortable you are with software, is to check your security if you have any, i.e. Norton or whatever you have. Some firewalls, will not let you enable chat and other outside programs from site, unless you allow it. If you do not have firewalls installed with a security program, buy some.. that will help protect you from malware attacks, which could be the Chrome problem. Hope this helps! Sometimes things like this are simple, or not, but annoying!
PS... clear out your cache. That can not hurt, it might help!

limegreen, did you try uninstalling previous versions of Java then reinstalling the new copy?

Thanks for your suggestions both of you!
Celeste, yes, I did uninstall previous Java first. and followed the instructions on the java site
Misssue, I will perhaps have to try firefox. Everything is up to date, I have McAfee though I'm not entirely confident in its abilities given the recent problems I've had. Hitherto, McAfee had no issues with chat in IE, though now IE no longer functions. I've recently reinstalled Malwarebytes, but I've had it before and had no issues.

If installing FireFox doesn't work Vista may have become one of those operating system affected like XP after installing Java 8.25 Look at the following thread if the chat and Java 8 doesn't work in FireFox. takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/post/462252/thread

Thanks Greg, I tried FireFox, it won't even let me login, when I click the login it takes me immediately back to the home page. So I tried going back to Java 7.71 on Chrome, and no dice either. Ugh! What a mess. I feel like I've done nothing but restart my computer all day.

Though the login point seems to be moot, Java is not working with FireFox either.

limegreen, Do me a favor and see if you can load and login to our company demo chat. If so I might have an isea what your problem might be. Also, when you tried to login to chat here did any pop-up error message show? Our company demo chat is located at addonchat.com/demo.html

Greg, I tried it, and the same things happens, momentary flash of the loading circle and then nothing, a blank white space. There was a message about java needing my permission, but having allowed it, no more messages and a blank white space.
