We're in Central Maryland, where we're not getting much snow/rain/mix at all--maybe a couple of inches. Just in case, though, we checked to make sure we had canned tuna, cat food, bread, distilled water for the CPAP machines, and batteries in case the power went out for a bit. It's never been out for more than a day, though, since our power lines are underground. It's wet snow, so we're a bit worried about tree branches, but we're getting off really lightly. Everybody stay safe and warm who is facing a real snowstorm.

Just got back from getting items I needed for the storm which are different for me with all my allergies and medical issues but thankfully was able to get everything I needed. In my area they are forecasting 18-24 inches plus at this point and it has already started snowing and freezing rain so roads are already getting bad to drive on. The governor already closed all state offices for today and tomorrow so now that I am home here is where I will stay. I got all my meds and the meds for my boys so at least I know we have those at this point. We always make sure we are stocked up on batteries and boys helped parents bring in wood for our fireplace plus we have plenty of candles so we should be all set for the storm now.

I used to work at our state child abuse hotline. When I snowed i wad expected to report to work with a suitcase and clean clothesn there was a storm in the early 89-90s where people were at work for several days. Luckily our office was Next to a hotel. We rented rooms and slept in shifts.

The daycare/preschool closed early. It's nice to be home before the real storm hits. It's been flurring all day. The governor put a driving ban into affect tonight. I always do all laundry before a storm like this. Wash all dishes. Get down the extra warm blankets. Fill the bathtub with water for flushing the toilet. Make sure I have drinkable water either store bought or filled in jugs. And all of the above mentioned.

Heard a cool thing on TV a bit ago. Mayor of Danbury CT (I HOPE I got the city name right) was talking about the precautions they're taking. One thing they're asking is for teens and younger people who might be out and about due to being out of school to check on older neighbors and locals to make sure they're OK. He said he's heard indications that a lot of kids are committing to this.
I think it's a good idea because of the storm - but hopefully it will also foster a bit more community feeling for everyone.

Hope you are all doing ok. Sounds like you have good plans in action anyway.
Snow warning in the UK always seem to result in everywhere selling out of bread and...
...toilet paper. I always wonder just what they think the snow is going to do to ther bowels!!!

dairy2mama I think we share the same governor....If I stand in the right spot in my building - I can see the capital but not quite the mansion...... Our Stormageddon was a non-event....In Albany anyway. I do know people downstate and in NYC/LI got hit hard. I woke up to no snow accumulation......so I came to work. I will admit I was hoping for the day off. I had a list of things to do including finishing the online defensive driving class I started last night. toomuchstuph this is a great idea...... lesaulerouge...nothing like running our of toilet paper...

Apparently Connecticut is taking the brunt of it, and a friend who lives in Boston says it's pretty bad there, too.

Rhode Island is snowed under too. Fortunately, I can work from home as long as I have power.

Well we have over 2 ft of snow where I am BUT there was hardly any wind where I am. Therefore no loss of power and the snow is tapering off...YAY! I was out shoveling the walkway and was happy to see and hear all the little critters. Squirrels chirping at me angrily, woodpecker in the tree...it's all good.

We got over 2 feet of snow and it is still snowing! Not too bad on the wind though because the snow is fluffy, there are many drifts. One plus I got my taxes done on this snow day.
