angela yes! do what Diane says! I decluttered inside, but mostly focused on the little add on at the end it would be nice to do a hummingbird/butterfly garden. That's what I worked on. Anything you get done is good. Especially since you worked on the Doom Room as well as other stuff. I think challenges can take a turn so one thing gets focused on over another. Getting all those plants established took a good bit of time. Plus it was a good thing to focus on. Besides, I know from other posts of yours that you've taken boxes of things out, and accomplished a lot, like had a yard sale, that's a huge undertaking. Plus, you decluttered your chicken coop by selling 7 roosters. Add that to your list too. Money for roosters is always a success. Yesterday, my mom reminded me that the piano tuner is coming next Thursday and wouldn't it be nice if all that were cleaned. Well, yes, however, I am doing the very best that I can. I know I am. I still have a week until then. More will be out. Garbage bags don't lie. I went through a box of trash bags. I just keep finding one or two or three things and just keep going. Eventually I will have the place cleaned out on the inside, on top of the surfaces. Maybe with the fall challenge. But, this one isn't over with and I filled a trash bag today. So, if I can fill a few more trash bags, I'll get there. My key is BALANCE. Diane - yes I have a Christmas mountain! I took down the tree and couldn't get it back in the spare bedroom because I had piled everything in there that my mom wanted out of her house of mine. So, I won't have far to go to put the tree back up. Or the decorations. They are all right here, ready to go up!

I have failed at my challenge. With the bursitis all summer, I just have not been able to do much. The hip is finally better, but after mowing a quarter of the yard yesterday afternoon it is acting up again. I think it would be best to put off my ceiling and door painting till my joints are stronger.

Ima, I'll say the same thing to you as I said to Angela--your late summer challenge turned out to be getting through your daily activities even while having bursitis, and you succeeded with that! It's not easy to function while in constant pain.
Garbage bags don't lie.
Vyaspigeon, you're right about that!

imamess - YES< listen to dtesposito - you did what you could - I call that a success - your challenge took a turn, like mine did, like Angela's did. And it's not over. So,.... what ever you did do, put on your list, put it here and we will all celebrate what all you DID accomplish. I'm sure it's more than you think it is! I know I read the lists of others here and think WOW they did a bunch and all I did was XY and forgot about ABC. I think we all do that to some extent. Plus life has a way of giving us extras in there to do. In an interesting turn of events, my piano tuner called this evening to postpone her visit to our pianos until the 16th of September. OK great! I have an extra 2 weeks! It might actually be decluttered in here. Or at least a lot more than it is right this very minute.

I think everyone is doing great no matter what you are getting done. You are doing something and that counts. My list at the core hasn't really changed in the last three (or is it four) challenges Eventually, I cross off one thing but add another. We all have a few BIG things we want to do but lots of little unexpected things rear their heads and howl until they are fed leaving our big ole quiet elephant(s) sitting in the corner waiting for his turn PC

Attachment DeletedI haven't been posting, but I've been plugging away! My late summer project, turning an awful junk closet into a seasonal clothing closet is DONE! My big detour was when hubby bought a fire safe and then had no place to put it. So I offered some of my closet space. There are blankets folded on the top shelf, winter clothes hanging, and a shelf we were tripping over for shoes. The boots are buried someplace in the basement. They will be found. I'm still needing to deal with some of what came out of the closet. This will happen. But this picture makes me happy!!! (This picture looks like it posted sideways, which is randomly weird. Click on it and it should straighten itself out.)

Diane58, how great to have your closet finished in time for fall--when you need your cold-weather clothing it'll all be ready!

Phoenixcat, you know just what to say to make me do my neglected jobs--turn them into patient animals waiting their turn for attention...

Gorgeous closet Diane! Yes, the elephant is pretty quiet, but the baby elephants aren't so much.

Hi all. Such great work done this summer. Congrats! I have had a busy summer and have not posted in a long time. I am pretty happy with my progress. I have not done anymore garden work since I last posted but I had done so much that I was pleased and for the most part my gardens were mulched and weeded and looked well tended. My biggest thing was making an important financial decision It was one if those hard ones w out a clear choice but just really trying to figure out what will be best for the family. I made the decision in early August and have such relief it is done but tbh have a few moments if self doubt but am trying to just move forward and not let myself get consumed w self doubt. I also cleaned out my garage as an added challenge and that is so great. Every day I enjoy seeing my clean garage. I am still trying to track done quotes for the roof and fence. I have found that it is a grind as I have had to chase down info. So many contractors have not returned calls. Ugh. I even had to track down my insurance company so much. I filed a claim in march. They lost the paperwork and it took me until last week to get it settled. Many phone calls on my part. And I lost all this time of good weather when the work could have been completed. But good progress on some stuff. All caught up on dental work. Made the family eye doctor appts and then went and picked out new frames and the new glasses are here before school states so yay! And got my car into the shop for some needed repairs. So I am feeling good that we are so caught up on quite a bit. It has been a good summer. And I am thinking of my list for the next two month challenge as there is always something to do!

Btw I just want to say lists help me so much in being realistic about getting a task done. For example getting new glasses can be written as just one item but I like chunking it out because each step really takes time and planning from making the eye appts w the doctors and then getting to the offices. Then Visiting an optician to try on frames. Going back to pick up glasses. Submitting receipts to flex spending account. With my full time job and child sports schedule and summer camps it was tricky and challenging even though it is a straightforward task. I am just basking in the sense that we did it in time for school

Magda, I'm so glad that you've done so much of what you planned for this challenge--you're right--making lists and breaking things down into steps makes it easier and helps you plan realistically for how long things take. Sorry about the contractors not calling back--I've read so many posts about this--it seems to be a common thing lately. I guess there's so much work they can take their time about calling people back.
So, just a couple of days left in the challenge--is everyone planning what they want to do next time? I have so many possibilities I'm having a lot of trouble deciding which ones to do--I know if I list them all I'll get discouraged and not do very well.
I'm still working on my decluttering, I've spent a lot of time over the last few days working on the DR clutter, and have made some headway. I'm also ALMOST ready to get rid of the broken dollhouse that has been sitting in there--I'm just not QUITE there yet.
I really wanted to work on sewing the jeans before the end of the month but I don't suppose I'll have time for that now.
Diane
