In these forums, subject lines can be 50 characters long. When someone posts a new thread, the subject is limited to 50 characters. It simply isn't possible to go past that.
If someone replies to a post using quick reply, the subject line has a Re: prepended to it, and, if need be, characters are removed from the end of the subject line.
If someone posts using the Reply link (and gets to the screen where the smilies are), then the subject line isn't truncated.
This can lead to some chagrin, as words may be truncated into words that are not ideal.
You may want to keep your subject lines short. 46 characters or fewer should work nicely.
Thank you. You may now return to your regularly scheduled lives.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled lives. regularly scheduled !?! NO way, never was, ::)maybe will be... in any case, this caused a great chuckle: good way to start my regularly improvised impulsive day!

Maybe we could suggest that when people write really long posts (which I actually love to read)... that they leave spaces between paragraphs... or break it up a little, so it's easier to read. Just a little change, but it would be helpful on our aging eyes.
