I live in the land of Alligators & Oranges. I am considering hosting a Mini-Squalorfest in March. This way you frozen snowbirds could escape the icy, white wet stuff! I find it wayyy too hot most of the year, & this way we would not be in the middle of Hurricane Season. I am just throwing this out there to see if there would be any interest . . . This is not meant to conflict in anyway with the main late summer Squalorfest, wherever that may be. Since I live in The Bates Motel, (you can check in but you can never leave ) there's no real room for me to take people in & I've not yet formulated plans since I'm just fishing right now . . . PM me if you might be interested in attending . . . Step

The Beaaaaccchhh! And meeting Sidestep!!!!
If you decide to invite us, I will come if humanly possible (I think it will be--I can probably finagle a few days off work)
Every single one of the places/activities you listed sounds fun.

Sidestep, If you wanted, you could ask the mods to pin this so it stays at the top of the board--or even pin it to several boards.

Maybe! Where are you geographically in Fla? (You don't have to say exactly) North? Middle? Southern? East? West? Just trying to figure out drive time and mileage. Depends on alit of factors, but I could dig fla in March!

I will come clean... I am the squalorer that visited Step a couple of years ago! It was beautiful!! We had a blast! I would love to be able to go again, but alas, I don't think my budget will handle it this year. I could tell you some lovely stories though! Step and I laughed and laughed the whole time we were there. The seabird sanctuary and the aquarium were my favorite parts. At the seabird sanctuary, it was feeding time, so the birds just lined up and followed the man all around! Step and I treated ourselves to pedicures, and while we were sitting in the thrones, in walks this 5 ft tall heron of some sort - just walked through the open door to see what we were doing! I am not sure I have laughed so hard since! And did you know that pelicans are NOT graceful birds? They PLOP into the water barely having slowed down! And the seagulls really will steal the food out of your hands!
When we took the dolphin boat tour, we saw dolphins, but the most amazing thing was this small, uninhabited (by humans) island that had thousands of these beautiful white birds nesting on it... it was magical to see!
And the food was fantastic, even for me, who doesn't eat things that swim. And a small place that has wonderful banana daiquiris!!
Feel free to PM me as well, if you have any visitor type questions!

Oh, how I miss living there! I lived in Seminole for 10 years. I moved up to the Panhandle just in time for Ivan. It's so cold up here!

You temptress. Diane and I are looking at this, despite the state of our pocketbook. ETA: What about visiting Big Cat Rescue in Tampa?

Okay. Count Diane and I in. Diane says she's available to take feet photographs again. Anyone care to join Step, Diane and I?
