"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem". It's my all-time favorite!

In AA/Al-Anon/ACOA they have a similar saying, "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always gotten. If you want something different, you'll have to do something different." Their definition of insanity is similar: "Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing over and over, and expect different results."

"No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking." Voltaire
"Fatigue makes cowards of us all." Vince Lombardi
And for those of us who use creative procrastination:
"I don't need more time. I need a deadline!" Duke Ellington

Very nice! Here are a couple more: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."--Theodore Roosevelt "A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."__ George Bernard Shaw I may have gotten these from this board I can't recall, but I wanted to share them.

"It's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness"
don't know where it's from, but a pastor-friend of mine used to quote this all the time.

My favorites are:
"Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, it's not the end yet!"
And
"What I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it."

"It's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness" don't know where it's from, but a pastor-friend of mine used to quote this all the time. According to my favorite quotes collection, it's a Chinese proverb. Here's a couple of my other favorites, motivationally-wise: - "The Oxen may be slow but the Earth is patient." - Chinese Proverb
- "Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it." - Chinese Proverb

My favourites are not very poetic
- What's the worse that can happen?
- Something is better than nothing
- In the end we are all going to die.
(which isn't as morbid as it sounds, it's more about not getting any prizes at the end of your life if you were happy, successful, rich or what ever - successful or not we all end up dead)

"We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves." ~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld
"All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself." ~Ralph Ellison, "Battle Royal"

You can not solve a problem with the same thinking that created it. -Einstein Oh, I'm going to post that as the "motivational quote of the day" for my writing class tomorrow. (Teacher asks for the students to pick a quote and write it on the board; I'm usually the one who ends up doing it because no one else wants to bother choosing one.)
