Well, it's day 2 of the big haul out of my garage. I am very excited about the possibilities this venture might bring. Truthfully, I can't wrap my head around it ATM. Some ideas : a garage that I could fit my van in, a garage that I can see from one side to the other, a functioning garage that does not feel like a burden. It would be a helpful thing if I had some plan of how to arrange... this stuff but I really do not have a clue. Naturally, I would love to "do it right" the first time (this is not the first time BTW) organizational systems include shelving units, totes and for DH those tool roll around carts that have the drawers. We also have 2 large gun safes that I will not be in charge of doing anything with.

def6 you can do this! I know its intimidating. Have you made a sketch of where you want your zones to be? It doesnt have to be artistic, just a simple "i want gardening stuff here" and "car maintenace stuff there". Then i like to write the zones on pieces of scrap paper and tape them to the wall. Then its just a matter of moving stuff to the zones. Do you have help with this? Dh?

that moment of "OMG what have I done!" is part of the process, you'll be okay!
I also found Unswamping's suggestions to be helpful... also, just putting "like with like" items out in the driveway/yard helped me see what I had, and figure out where the "zones" should be...
and you don't have to figure it all out ahead of time, just take one decision at a time, if you need to, sometimes that's the only way to work out the puzzle pieces...

Thank you so much casper Unswamping and mylittlescholar for cheering me! Also, the Zones! Yes, I will pencil them in and then decide that will save me a lot of time. I got a lot accomplished in the garage -- in a very short amount of time Had my DGS (2) year old birthday party today. It was a blast ...back to the excitement tomorrow, This has renewed my faith in anything is possible...It is all about what you want.
