I really need to find the maintenance wagon and hop back on!
I haven't posted much on here, though I was active on the old SS board. I'm a stay at home mom to 4 kids, ages 8, 5.5, 4.5 and newborn. I grew up in squalor, married young and had 3 kids in 3.5 yrs and got very overwhelmed, ended up in 2nd/3rd degree squalor. Dh is military and 2 yrs ago we moved, housing here is much larger and easier to keep organized (thank you full size basement and garage!). We don't really have a lot of clutter, I'm just not very good at organization and being newlyweds we didn't have much money for things. Now we have adequate space, storage, etc and things are much more under control.
I was maintaining pretty good until my 3rd trimester. Our house is 2 stories, plus basement. Laundry is in the basement. Due to having 2 babies over 9 lbs I have very bad pelvic separation which makes it nearly impossible to move while pg. I spent most of my pregnancy sleeping on the couch, only going upstairs to shower. Of course the laundry and bedrooms all suffered. Dh would say they had cleaned up there but his idea of 'clean' and mine aren't exactly the same. Then my mom came out for 2 wks when the baby was due, I spent a lot of the time resting. My oldest has some emotional/behavioral issues, he started his usual cycling so I was dealing with that too instead of getting things done. At the end I was so huge I couldn't put my shoes on or bend over at all.
My little guy was born Nov 13, a wk late and weighing in at 10 lbs 1 oz. He was born the old fashioned way too, no c-section! He's a great baby, never fussy, great nurser, very content. The kids adore him and are very helpful. Dh took 2 wks off to help out around the house and take the kids to school. Unfortunately ds2 had given us a tummy bug the day I went into labor so me and dh spent the first wk either in the bathroom or on the couch. I feel really great now though and REALLY want to get things done around here!
Last night I helped 4 yo dd clean up her bedroom and the boys did theirs. We gave them our dresser since it fits perfectly in their closet, so now we have to move another dresser up 2 flights of stairs from the basement. Shouldn't be too hard, just have to actually DO it! Laundry is folded in piles all over my bedroom and the living room as we play musical dressers. We use cloth diapers during the day at home, I have to wash them every other day so it helps me to stay caught up on laundry. There's just a lot of little stuff that needs to be done. Now that I can bend over without a 10 lb little booty rammed in my diaphragm I really just want to go through and get it all done. Both my boys are in school and dd is going to be in preschool 2 mornings/wk so I should have time to get more done.

Yay for your new baby. More work, true, but oh so exciting. I always admire how pregnant women can manage to get anything accomplished, when they are facing morning sickness, sore backs and big bellies. You seem very organized, and are certainly not sounding "off the wagon". All the best to you and your family!

Nice to see you around, arrwilla! Congrats on the baby boy! What a big guy! By all rights, you should still be laying in bed ringing a bell whenever you need something. Now... if only we had someone that would answer that bell! You sound wonderful. Really. I know when I had just one baby, I was whining about how hard it all was. You sound upbeat and joyful! You go Girl!

Welcome!
I have a question for you. What are the signs of pelvic separation? I had a 9 pound 11 ounce boy, and i have been experiencing a lot of unexplained things in that area ever since. Lots of aches and paines, etc. Just curious to know!
Have you ever thought about putting all of the dressers down in the basement right next to the laundry area? If I had a basement, that is what I would do! Then every night you could pick out what you are going to wear in the morning, and bring it up, instead of having to cart loads of laundry around.
I hate laundry's guts!

You know, I just saved you a post and looked it up. I did have a lot of the symptoms during my pregnancy, and shortly after, and the symptoms i have know are similar to what it was describing.
I wonder if I have the same thing? It is interesting how things pop up at random that can be so relevant!

Congratulations on the new baby! I love the line about the booty crammed in there . I'm only 5'0", and all of mine lived up under my ribcage, making it hard to breathe. They stayed so compact, some people didn't know I was pregnant until I was 7 or 8 months -- I just looked like I was getting fat .
You will get back on that maintenance wagon, you are determined.
Good luck!

Congratulations on your new baby. Wow-you had a ten pounder the regular way. I am in awe! Sounds like you are really holding your own in the battle against clutter. Four kids and you seem to be managing well. Have your husband do the lifting/moving for you. And good luck with everything!

Thanks for the congrats! We're still in the 'babymoon' phase, I love it when they're just little lumps and let you hold and snuggle them...
I've actually managed to accomplish a lot which has really surprised me! The baby was colicky this weekend and I had a bad migraine all last wk due to the tetanus/whooping cough vax I had to get. I've been taking naps after dinner and then when Baby wakes up around midnight for his feeding I do a bit after he gets back to sleep. This weekend I cleaned out the basement, took 1/2 as long as I thought it would. Dh and the kids cleaned out the garage and moved most of it down there. Much easier to park in there now! Again, looked worse than it was. Living room is straightened up and mostly organized. Trees are up, we have a big 9 ft one, then the kids have a pink one and a silver one (only 4 ft tall). Need to get more ornament hangers though so I can get the rest of the ornaments hung and the boxes takne downstairs. Dh took the dresser upstairs and I got all our clothes put away. Every night I've been doing the kitchen and laundry, so actually keeping up rather well.
I still need to vacuum all the bedrooms upstairs, clean the main bathrooms and help the boys get their room organized. The carpets in the living room really need to be cleaned, but trying to figure out how to move all the furniture around to do it! Also need to put up the outside Christmas decorations, but it's -30 F (-45 windchill) so I guess that will have to wait!
And a small victory...When Baby was 5 days old a couple of ppl from dh's shop stopped by to drop off gifts. The house was messy from me being gone 3 days and not doing much the previous wk, but it wasn't too terrible. The girl that came has 4 kids herself so she recognized just general laundry (clean) and kid clutter. I was a little embarrassed but not kill-me-now so. Really big deal for me!
