Yes, very sad. It read like the son was living in the home, too?

I hope they can find the son and get him help. He is out of a home now and probably just wandering.

I think in the story it said that they offered him help, but there was no information on whether or not he accepted it.

They did offer her son help. I hope that he accepts it. I also wonder what happened to the 26 cats, & racoons? 3G

I watched a 30 sec. video of the story (I think that's all I can take), and besides feeling deeply sorry for them both, I thought, "If I don't do something, I could end up like that."

Last weekend, there was a news story in Indianapolis, IN, about a retired chemist who died as the result of a fire in his squalor-filled house. The firefighters had a tough time because the home had only "goat trails" through the squalor that was piled ceiling high. They had a difficult time both in finding him and in putting out the fire. It was very sad.

Those people are few and far between. Edited to fix link.

The link to the Indy story is not working for me. Oops. Sorry. Don't know why that didn't work. When I post a link, I usually check to make sure it works, but I forgot that time. It's fixed now and here is another story about the same incident. It shares more details about his "hoard". www.wishtv.com/dpp/news/Westfield_man_dies_in_house_fire
