Hi,
I've been looking at various threads here to figure out how people are posting photos now without photo bucket. Apparently flckr is also not recommended according to Lion's post on the photo bucket issue.
Any updated tips?
Thanks, PC

Hi phoenixcat . I posted pictures in my blog recently. I unloaded my camera onto my laptop and added the photo as an attachment. I just browsed files on my desktop and opened them. Good luck!

Thanks MyNiceHome - that worked great! So easy - just like me to make things more complicated than necessary!

What you *can* do: Upload the photo to imgur.com and then put a link to your imgur photo in your private message. If you don't want it in imgur's public searchable images, then mark it as private on imgur.

i think i remember reading that the mods had to delete attachments, though; and that makes more work for celeste - because of only so much file space on our boards. did i understand that right? also, you could reduce your file size to post pics. you only need about 35 to 100 kb to post a good pic online. any larger and you have to open it smaller anyway. that might help. if anyone needs help on that, let one of us know. the simplest way i know is to make a copy of whatever picture i want to reduce and then reduce the copy. most photo or preview applications have the change file size option. you may want to check in with the mods to see what they want and recommend. and.... aren't photobucket and flickr still free for posting pictures? i thought they were. it's just emojis we can't have? or did i get that addled in my brain, too? here's a link to 11 free photo hosting websites: www.lifewire.com/free-image-hosting-sites-3486329imgur and flickr are both on it, and 9 others.

Photobucket is no longer free. It now charges hundreds of dollars. Flickr is free for sharing albums on their site, but they don't advise embedding photos in forums. The link you gave for photo hosting websites ... will work for hosting pics on their sites, but some sites don't allow pics hosted on therir site to be posted on messageboards. You have to read the terms of service for each company to see if they allow linking their pics onto a messageboard. We don't have some of the smileys we used to have, because they had been hosted on photobucket, which used to be free, but isn't anymore. We can use emojis. Those are different from emoticons and smileys. More on this thread takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/29957/smileys-broke-image-warning-photobucket
