Woke up this morning and walked into my kitchen. Sink was clear except for a couple of utensils. Kitchen counters were wiped down. There were dishes out - but clean and stacked in the drying rack. There were no dishes scattered around my apartment and I had put out a bag of garbage the night before after I finished cleaning up from making dinner. I had an immediate positive reaction to this. I breathed a happy sigh. I realized that this was now more the norm than chaos in the kitchen. It used to be that by Friday the kitchen was a wreck, since I often did not have the energy or motivation to do what I needed to do during the week. So each weekend I ended up having to do a massive clean up in the kitchen, living room, bedroom. Yes, I didn't do laundry during the week (but I have it sorted and ready to take down). Yes, the bedroom needs some straightening up (but I hung up some pants yesterday rather than just tossing them on my bench). Yes, I still have papers to go through (just one stack, however, not the entire lowboy) and others to shred and throw away (but they are neatly stacked in a bag). Yes, I have some things that need to be put out for the super to throw away. (I am confident I will do that this weekend). It is so nice not to feel overwhelmed! I am giving myself a pat on the back for recognizing and feeling good about PROGRESS made, not just perfection. And for somehow becoming better at incorporating habits that encourage maintenance, not mayhem. What about you? What can you pat yourself on the back for? Either something specific you have done or a change in mental attitude. 'Fess up - it is time focus on the positive - not the negative. Afterall, we are all, Ontheway

What can you pat yourself on the back for? something REALLY REALLY HUGE FOR ME: I got rid of all the oulde-ladye-baggy-unflattering-ugly-camouflage-clothes in my cupboard and drawers. And I have been wearing something different every day. And carrying a different purse daily. At my worst (in deep depression) I used to wear what my DH called 'the uniform'----sweat pants and grubby t-shirts. Today I will wear a dress (from a nice plus-size store called Addition-Elle). With some sort of co-ordinating purse. I have bought some fashion magazines and I find it relaxing to look at the pictures. I have also done my own nails a few times now (long story). I used to buy some cheap clothes (baggy) at a cheezy store INSIDE the subway station. I have now put that store on the Out of Bounds list. If I want clothes, I have found several plus-size stores near my house and/or on the subway line. Body squalor: the last frontier for me. I'm working on it! xxoo and thanks for giving me a chance to share this triumph.

Great job, OTW and Script!
I started a new diet plan at the first of the year. I made many changes, but really started trying hard to stay "on-habit" with my new goals about mid April. In the last 4 weeks, I have only had one "off habit" day.
Not to say I stuck to it perfectly, but 30 out of 31 days in May were building a new, healthy, positive habit!
Thanks for letting me toot my horn a bit!

CCL, this is an amazing accomplishment! Do you have any "secrets" to your success?

Yes, Eating Bonbons, as a matter of fact, I do!nosdiet.com/And the beauty of this diet is that you CAN eat bonbons...just not everyday! !
Check it out. Someone posted the link at Squalor Survivors, and it has really been helpful for me in overcoming some really bad eating habits! Hope it is helpful for you, too!
