Well-wishes to all those working towards their goals today.
My aims today are...
To clear the alcove opposite the upstairs toilet and the shelving unit on the landing.
I intend to be ruthless and insist that the kids are too.
Anything that causes too much upset will be put in a box with the date on and if not used or moved by the end of June will be thrown or gifted.
My goal for the end of today is to have the shelving in the alcove and all the kids school work, bags, clothes and shoes on it.

Rosebud- I like your way of marking things off, I might steal the uhm notation style? of starring what's done, if you don't mind. Eagle- I was MIA from life yesterday so don't know what's going on but hope you are doing ok.... Thankyou, Djollydjolan. I've been kind of close-mouth about it anyway, so no one knows much about it. Basically, it's turmoil at the family business and it's been escalating for a few months. Things came to a head last week, erupted a couple of days ago, and I've been put my energy into coping. There is more than one solution, of course, and yesterday I presented a solution that will give all of us the least stressful relief. My perception of a solution was not at all the same as his, but it will work out, it seems. Tensions have begun to reduce and I hope that will continue for the next couple of weeks. Son & DIL have decided to move to Texas to get away from here and to be with her family. I will miss my granddaughter very much, of course, but there is no rift in our relationship, at least. Basically I am having to take this one day at a time, because I don't know from one day to the next how my son is going to feel or act. This business venture has become more stressful to him than I ever expected and it is more than he can handle. So he has been very volitile, which is what I mean about not knowing from one day to the next what to expect. I suppose that's not entirely true. I have come to expect volitile outbursts and chaos. That's not healty.

oh eagle sounds like you really have your hands full.. hope everything goes well. sometimes just coping is about all you can do. I hope today is gentle to you and you're gentle to yourself. Seems like I've heard a fair bit of dramarama about your son... I think I understand what you mean about not healthy to expect that kind of volatility.. Cuppa tea to you and a gentle day.

Hi everyone and best of luck with it eagle. One of the things that I am clear about is that after retirement I do not have specific work and rest periods so everything merges into everything else. Hence I am often not working in the week and not relaxing at the weekend either.
Done: tidyied a bit putting stuff away and trying not to sulk - I felt like a small child full of resentment made some stock - in a small pan - and wait for it - it spilt over the cooker including one of the burners, over the clothes dryer next to the cooker, over the floor, over various things kept on top of the dryer and over me. wrote up cash book from yesterday
Todo: clean up mess in kitchen or it will get worse phone one or more friends get ready to go out later - there is a short music performance I want to listen to only about 40 minutes but I do want to hear it and fear that I can't be bothered.

Hello everyone.
I'm pasting in my goals from Rennie Ellen's Memorial Day Weekend challenge last week. I accomplished a few things, but not as much as I wanted to. (I've been spending too much time on the computer and learning about really important things, like smileys and HTML code and stuff.) I still have the same goals, plus a few financial extras.
I have backslid in doing anything for my home, other than take care of the lawn work. I haven't vacuumed in over a month. Everything needs dusting. I know I used to be a ta-da's only person, but I want to experiment with this "visual list" and see how many items I can cross-out by the end of the weekend.
(Crossed-out items are DONE!)
Goals: 1) Get my small bathroom down to 0 degrees. 2) Rinse dishes; load dishwasher; rinse recyclables and put in blue bag; turn on dishwasher; scrub counter-tops; vacuum floor; scrub floor with cleanser & mop; wipe down all doors 3) Clear out master bathroom closet and sort through clothes; create big give-away pile 4) dust and vacuum small hallway 5) wash industrial-sized bras and hang up to line-dry; wash work clothes; fold laundry & put everything away; vacuum laundry room floor 6) vacuum/mop atrium, water all house plants 7) dust & vacuum master bedroom; wash sheets & bedspread 8) vacuum & dust living room 9) vacuum & dust dining room 10) clear out foyer; put items away; vacuum & mop floor; dust table; vacuum cobwebs 11) vacuum & dust computer room; gather up books from bookcases that I want to throw out or give away; shred papers 12) clean out car; vacuum; wipe interior & exterior windows; re-install clean floor mats; wipe dashboard & steering wheel of dust 13) edge around front lawn landscaping; pull weeds in backyard; edge back alley strip of grass; sweep up & bag grass clippings 14) put stuff away in garage 15) organize linen closet; put shop & drop items away 16) wipe down long leather sofa with micro-waved cloth; put duct tape on leather-cracked areas; try to re-attach and plump up cushions (I plan to give this lumpy 13-yr old couch away to the Salvation Army, but it's too gross right now to give it away to another human being) 17) replace all burned out lightbulbs around home 18) update investment totals in financial spreadsheet 19) update financial transactions in Quicken financial software 20) update budget spreadsheet and pay 10 bills 21) take meds; retrieve mail; sort & toss
We'll see how much I can accomplish this weekend . . .

Evening update:
Still gorgeous weather, flowers blooming, birds singing, how can I do things indoors, when outdoors is so nice?!
So I could not mark off with too many stars on my list. Instead: DS helped cut down a big tree that was about to fall over neighbors' property. Lots of branches to cut up. Big job.
DS is leaving tomorrow. THEN I must try to get that paperwork done!!
Soon midnight now, but still not quite dark. Norwegian summer nights - the fragrances - what a great time of the year.

Djolly, I just had a quick look at your post ... if you had marked with a star everything you did today - you must have reached at least a hundred?

I dunno rosebud.. my day's gotten kind of wonky. around 7 I wanted to go take a wonderful shower to relax with the new bath yummies my mancreature got me. then I heard my ferret scream. and we got to make a 7:30 am trip to the ER vet. by the time we even got her into the car she was back to normal, figured I should go in anyway. looks like she had a little ferret seizure. cause unknown. took a xanax on the way there. came home and fell asleep. I feel like i somehow like it's another day that I woke up to at 2pm and i haven't done anything. that's how it feels at least. oh well. ferrets rolling on her back in the hammock like nothing happened at least. but i feel totally off now. :/

(I've been spending too much time on the computer and learning about really important things, like smileys and HTML code and stuff.) Me, too. ... I need to ... er ... I CHOOSE to get back on track. Where was I? Oh ..... right ... I posted on ListZilla Accountability thread -- over at Squalor Survivors -- about 2 or 3 weeks ago ... about an "important phone call" I needed to make. I posted every day until I made the phone call. Then I went into their office and found out what I needed to know. But ... I never followed up. Lots has happened. Old forums, new forums, transitions. And me being preoccupied with all of that. There is some paperwork I need to ... er ... I CHOOSE to deal with as a result of the phone call and office visit from a few weeks ago. Well, it needs to be done, and I choose to do it. I hereby recommit to the project I abandoned a couple of weeks ago. -
