Thank you phoenixcat. Angie, your days are super busy, as usual. I always think it's so funny when the boss has to be trained on something--aren't they supposed to be the ones training the staff? I know they might not keep up with every detail of a particular procedure but it's kind of amazing how clueless a lot of bosses are about what the staff actually does. This "boss" took over in May. She was our front counter person for 11 months. Before that she worked in a candle shop I think. I was one of their top candidates for the job if I wanted it. Me and another lady that they had in mind both said NO WAY!! I can't do 5 days a week Mon-Fri 8-5 AND then add the stress of all the junk that goes with managing a department of 15. I know since I had to basically do it interim both times we were in between managers. She does have management experience (she says) from other jobs. But not as huge of a self-proclaimed manager as our previous crazy manager. She doesn't know how to do a lot of things I do. Some of that has to do with control from our upper management in that he doesn't want people "messing things up." So there are 2 of us besides him that can do a bunch of special things. But the day end process anyone can learn. It's just learning the details of how to request all the reports to print and then how to sort them and who they go to. In a perfect world, you would train someone for 5 or 6 days. She only requested to work with the other lady and then seemed to think she was good. But then she never had to fill in. So here we are. I almost would just rather come in each day and do it myself since my co-worker is only out 3 days. BUT she really needs to be able to cover because my co-worker is at retirement age and had said after her mom passes (she's known for awhile it was only a matter of time) that she would probably be retiring. So she'll need to be able to cover at some point when we are in between in staffing and looking for a new person. Monday it was just announced to me, "I am going to stay and train with you tonight and tomorrow." As a Type A personality, this is not easy for me. But I am reaching deep down inside to find all the strength to be patient and let her do things in her "messy way." !! You know how it goes. Bosses don't need to know how to do things .... just delegate to the workers. And keep your head in the clouds unaware of how much some of your workers do. I still have not been able to figure out what she is doing all day long. Our old (horrible) boss actually helped answer the phones sometimes. She seems to have shut out that duty as she is now above it.

You know how it goes. Bosses don't need to know how to do thingsYeah, I'll never know how so many really bad bosses get into positions of power--are there really so many people who are fooled by a good talker? Or is it all corrupt quid pro quo kind of deals? I'm so glad I'm past the stage of having bosses--except for pet care clients who technically are bosses--but if I get a bad one of those, I fire them. Next: Sterilize dish sponge Wipe out microwave Wash some dishes 10 more minutes on books Diane

She is in the right "age range" for my company. She is "experienced" in her age group and she has had plenty of jobs. And nobody else there wanted it. She already worked Mon-Fri 8-5. Wow .... seems like she has all the right qualifications, right? It's good you fire the bad ones!

Good morning!
yes, lets hope for brighter days ahead!
MamaAngie I was just teasing, a throwback to an old "don't hate me because I'm beautiful" shampoo commercial. Obscure reference, sorry!
Anywho, I will be able to zip up the suitcases once I take a shower.

His birthday was 9/6, but we have not seen him. It's not where I thought I put it. And I can't find it! *sigh* Okay .... well going to drive my daughter. Be back in an hour or so to work on the dinner stuff for tonight's party.

I just looked at the weather.com US temperature map--it shows how the country is divided in half diagonally--NW has beautiful blue color signifying cold, SE has orange meaning hot, and it's divided by a yellow line meaning 60s. So pretty! And I'm so glad I'm not in the orange half today.

Oh scholar, how I hated those commercials! I would always be talking back to the tv saying "no, I hate you because you're conceited" or "except, you're not beautiful..." Ugh, I forgot all about those! Was that Rula Lenska? Or was she on some other pervasive commercial?
Okay, I've been putting it off all morning so now I have to seal up the book box and tape the label on. I have to leave for my walk in about an hour.
Next:
Seal up box Move laundry to dryer Cut up younger cat pills for pill container, throw out old cat's leftover meds

SetMeFree good luck today! Diane thinking of you as you face the day without old cat MamaAngie you are so busy! I am dealing with this work reorg with a new boss. It is s but unsettling as I learn the new world order. My goal is to be here until I am vested. So I hope I can do that. There is a lot of change on the horizon here I only had about four hours of sleep last night. So today is tough. I did the usuals Fed cats Drive dd to school Made bed Packed lunch Got ready for work Put clean dishes away Washed breakfast dishes I also did a little vacuuming Vacd upstairs hallway Vacd dd bedroom Vacd bathroom floor tile Vacd entryway Vacd part of my bedroom Vacd living room rug It really needed it Was a little early for work which was good as I want to set a good example for my team. Two are always late. I am tired today. I had a meeting from 11-12 which went 20 minutes over. On the way back to my office, a person from the meeting stopped me and talked very passionately about a project I was zoning. And backing away. Lunch!! Just ate something. Now have a 1 pm that will be -tricky one person there has bad intentions - thankfully my boss will be there I want a nap!!!!

thinking of you as you face the day without old cat
Thank you magda, it sure feels different. The odd thing is that it feels quiet--which is weird, because he only made noise when he was meowing for attention. But it feels like there's no one making noise outside or in the building--even the birds are quiet today.
Next:
Pack up shopping cart with book box and little library books for other little libraries Pack bag, include umbrella and library book to return Brush teeth
Then I will be off to my walk and errands.

Don't ask me about bosses
You're one of the people I was thinking about when I posted about bosses, ohblondie!
I'm home from my walk, as always, I enjoyed walking the rescue dog--she just quivers with excitement at the thought of going outside, she checks out absolutely everything as we walk, and then sits down at the door and cries to go back inside--this dog just appreciates everything!
My feet hurt though. I'm going to eat lunch and catch up on cable news.
