That's quite a list! But one thing you have in your favor is that it seems like you're pretty handy around the house (meaning: there is no way I could do some of the stuff you listed although I wish I could!!). How nice that you can do so much stuff on your own!! If I tried to make a cat tree it would end up being a pile of wood on the floor I can appreciate all the projects you have to do but might I suggest that you do smaller stuff first and break down the bigger projects into smaller ones that won't be so overwhelming? As an example, I got a lot of stuff done yesterday, but most of it was small stuff that only took a couple of minutes for each one. There were only a couple of things that took any real time at all and those were spaced out throughout the day. I had to google the term "triptych" as I'd never heard of it before! That sounds really cool though....I keep fish too - in fact that was one of the things that took time yesterday, cleaning all the fish tanks. What kind of fish do you keep?

heylady- Most of my aquariums are pretty rundown.. the reef is going to be for LPS not even sure if i want any fish yet though i don't think mancreature will abide an aquarium without one. i have the goldfish tank that i think i want to have opentopped now but not sure..in the past my main focus has been south american dwarf cichlids and plants.. i had a huge obsession with tonina sp. for awhile. i think now i want to get the reef going, the goldfish tank going, a tonina tank set up again, but not sure, and most likely something along the lines of a south east asian biotope. probably not a super strict one, but more along the lines of inspired by. i have a love affair going on with takashi amano and his planted tanks but no way i can come close to emulating his style.. the hell with the aquariums is that the place is small and i like them larger and yeah it all adds up to not enough space... want to see your tanks now and meet your fish:> I think my mancreature would love the triptych but not sure if i want to deal with it. and god knows i'd get the care of it.
i'm not super handy, just desperate. and want stuff done. everything's kind of got to get broken down on that list with next action steps needed but i just needed to dump it all out of my brain so i wouldn't go crazy. just having it roll around in my head. Don't even know where to start.

"Don't even know where to start." Hmmm I know that feeling! Just start with something small and simple like sew the loose tabs on the curtain. It shouldn't take too long and then it will be done! So you are really into planted tanks? I like them too, although like you, I'd love an Amano tank I just can't see myself maintaining it. It's all I can do to keep up with what I have now, you know? The 30g is planted but not anything super special, the little 5g has a few plants and just yesterday I put the first plants into the 29g. I've had goldfish in the past and really enjoyed them. What kind do you have? I have 8 tanks, and I'm mainly into the large aggressive american cichlids (texas, oscar), large hybrids (KK blood parrot, flowerhorn), smaller american cichlids (angels, rainbows) and then the saltwater tank is FOWLR (fish only with live rock). I also have an african OB peacock cichlid and hubby has the small tank with glow fish.

hehe anything involving sewing is scary because the sewing/crafting/playroom is just an absolute mess. i'd have to haul myself over piles of boxes to even reach the thread so.. some tiny projects go undone because it's easier to do huge ones that to reach the supplies atm for larger ones:/ i never got super into large predatory fish.. probably from having to clean dozens of tanks of them at the fish store.. they're sort of like having aquatic puppies.. but they also poop like puppies too:/ amano just tickles me pink.. i've got a stack of his books next to me.. but yeah the maintenance can be a killer.. he manages to have them fairly low maintenance, at least some of them it seems.. but I add CO2 and the high lighting and it just becomes an out of control nightmare for me.. the goldfish tank is something i want to work on today.. decide whether i want emmersed growth or not.. though i'm thinking no since the tank's so high up i wouldnt really get to enjoy the view:/ my boyfriend picked out the black moore, i a fantail.. once it's cleaned up i'd like to get a few more.. i know people sort of make fun of goldfish tanks as beginner aquariums but it's really one of my favourites ever.. the lilies and the goldfish and it's so peaceful in the morning to watch with a cup of coffee... the reefs are just beasts and again. talk about out of control. but the goldfish tank is just peaceful and soothing.. i sheared down all the plants to the gravel so it looks like hell right now but i'll uhm try to take some pics after it regrows:D

"i'd have to haul myself over piles of boxes to even reach the thread so.. some tiny projects go undone because it's easier to do huge ones that to reach the supplies atm for larger ones:/ "
Oh yeah, know that feeling too. Like if someone asked me for the folding card table I would probably laugh then get kinda nervous and ask them if they were serious! "i know people sort of make fun of goldfish tanks as beginner aquariums but it's really one of my favourites ever.." You won't hear any laughter from me! I love goldfish and I wouldn't mind having them again if I had the space. Do you get any of the fish mags? Not trying to get you to accumulate any more items but in Tropical Fish Hobbyist, Mr. Amano has a monthly column. I have to say that if I worked at a fish store I would never bring any money home, just fish or supplies!! Here is a link to my tank photos: s87.photobucket.com/albums/k149/BarbaraR_2006/

HeyLady:) Not getting any fishmags anymore. I read online mostly. have issues with collecting too much media. notice my ToDo list has a lot to do with building shelving I am loving your tank pics, I will have to take some of mine once they are anything more than boxes full of water at least they are boxes full of clean water set up with equipment now rather than murky scary boxes. HH- Sorry for the scary name for the thread, just wanted somewhere out of my head where I read sometimes and can't hide from it, ya know? take care of yourself, eh?

I hear you on the fish mags. I used to have 5 years worth sitting in various boxes. After lurking at SS for awhile, I finally got it into my head to thin the collection down! I have maybe 10 old issues that I'll probably keep forever, and the rest I collect maybe 6 months of each one then I start tossing. Hmm....makes me wonder if a local hobbyist would want any of the old mags? You've been getting a lot done on your list and that's awesome! And yes I'd love to see pics of your tanks someday!
