Going to give this a go, hope I can remember to keep adding to it. I am going to keep my items just as "items" -- not going to worry about getting more specific than that.
8 items out to recycling 4 items into donation station
12 so far
0 + 12 = 12 12/2020

10 items off the floor and loveseat in family room into the trash (filled a grocery bag with them)
12+10 = 22
Also took one scrap carpet out to side of road.
22+1 = 23
23/2020
Got a long way to go, but that is fine.

Do boxes belonging to another person leaving this house to go to be stored somewhere else count toward the number of items? I am preparing for a hopeful move and getting out the low hanging fruit. These boxes are things from my mom's house that right now, I am not at liberty to reduce the contents.

These boxes are things from my mom's house that right now, I am not at liberty to reduce the contents. You could say “3 boxes to storage.” If you are at liberty later to reduce the contents, then you could list the various items when they go out for good (giveaway, trash, recycle.) How does that sound? I think it’s fair, because you’re removing the boxes from your living area, and they don’t belong to you.

Yes, saffron that sounds very fair. It will be a huge job moving all of this stuff again. A lot of it is my mom's kitchen stuff and it would be nice to use some of her dishes in our new place and we can thin out the kitchen items that Kondo way or whatever that is when we get to the new kitchen. Look at all the silverware, dishes, pans, and make decisions then. I am sure that SOME of it can leave at some point.
I moved probably 20 boxes to storage, plus about 10 miscellaneous things to there also. (I am only at about 23 items from my last post, so this will help get me closer to that 2020.) At the same time, and on the other paw or hoof, I could just focus on what is actually leaving my life, not simply being moved to be dealt with later or decided on later.
Today I took at least 20 bags of yarn, plus 4 bags of polyfill
20 bags of yarn 4 bags polyfill 1 bag of fabric 2 bags of felt 1 packaging 2 bags of trash
30 things left for good today.
23 + 30 = 53
