I have the week off. I plan to re-set the house. I want to clean it out totaly... I have a week. My goal by the end of the week is to.
Be able to find stuff. clear out all garbage clean up the yard
I want to sleep on clean sheets. I want to be able to take clean clothes out of the closet instead of the dryer.
I want to reclaim the couch for sitting on.
The job before me is huge!
So, I will repeat this to my self How to eat an elephant, one bite at a time. I am not going to post pic's~ but will keep you updated on the struggle.

*update* Day one
Started in the kitchen. Took 1 bag of garbage. Cleared and wiped counter, washed mic. Did 3 sink fulls of dishes~ still not done~ Where did all thees dishes come from? Am I the only one that knows how to wash them???
Cleaned about $10.00 worth of bottles out from under the kitchen sink. Tossed out an old tea kettle, 10 or so useless plastic containers. Cleaned off top of stove.
Hit a road block~ kid 17 took a 30 min shower used up all the hot water. Grr! Took a break.
Cleaned out make up bag, tossed old make up, stuff that was not the right color for me etc. I did that with out guilt. Keeping it did not make it right no matter how much money I wasted on it. (Make up bag was in the kitchen)
BF, called and wanted me to spend some time with him, We went to a movie. I did feel guilty that I had not got the kitchen completely done. I had started that was huge!
Back at it today!
Goal today is finish the kitchen. I also, tossed in a load of towels. Need to put them in the dryer.
Thanks for all the cheering, I love the encouragement!

My mother was in a programme for cancer patients called "Look Good Feel Better". They were told to TOSS make-up that was more than 3 months' old (because of bacteria, germs, whatever). The ordinary (non-cancer patient) could keep makeup for 6 months! So you did the right thing! xxoo

Did 3 sink fulls of dishes~ still not done~ Where did all thees dishes come from? Am I the only one that knows how to wash them??? One hint that I read at Squalor Survivors about dishes was to put all the extra dishes in a container out of reach. So if you have a family of 4, you will have 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 spoons, etc. Suddenly, it is important for everyone to keep the dishes washed, and even if "everything" is dirty, it is quickly cleaned up again!
AND...you probably already know this....do soak the dishes in a sink of hot water for 15-30 minutes before scrubbing. It is AMAZING how much easier they are to clean. (I always used to soak them for 2 days or longer...they just got stinkier and harder to clean!)

Sunday I got the yard cleaned up! I know I was working on the kitchen. Got distracted by the nice weather. (the yard was on the list). Finished the kitchen. Stove and fridge cleaned out. I even got the floor washed. Took the old kitchen table (broken) out and to the dump. Got the boys to bring in the new to me table. looks great.
I let the dishes soak. otherwise I could not get them clean with out getting mad. I am going to try to box up extra dishes and hide them in the bottom of my closet. But, I think the boys would look for them apposed to washing a dish but it is worth a try.
Got the pet area cleaned up~ litter box~ washed all the food dishes and bedding. The fur-Babbie's just watched me. Script~ I would be scared to have some of the make up tested to see how much bacteria was on it. I did not use it but couldn't seem to part with it because it cost so much money. It was taking up room in my make up bag. It was just clutter and garbage and needed to go.
Now the living room.

Still working on the living room. Its wednesday... Monday I had to go to work for 1/2 a day. tuesday I just did not feel like doing anything. I did manage to get 9 load of mount washmore done. Its all folded on my kitchen table. I want the kids to tell me what they would like to keep and the rest is going to the salvation army. I have a dentist appointment on thursday so, I thought I would get my hair cut and take my self out for lunch, Maybe clean out the car and wash it to.
I wish that I was further along in the de-cluttering and cleaning stage. I really wanted to be company ready by Friday. I do not think that is going to happen. I will be super happy if I have clean sheets on my bed by friday that my min goal.

Thursday all I manage to do was go to the dentist. I bought a new shower curtain for the bathroom and a new bathroom scale. My bathroom is clean. Its Friday and I can not see the floor in my bedroom. I still need to clean out the van and have not touched the boys room at all. My week is over on sunday. Monday I start back to work and do a seven day stretch wierd hours and all. Saturday I will not be able to do much... I have a family situtation that is demanding my attention. so really that leave today and sunday. I just keep telling my self that you eat an elephant one bite at a time. Anything that I do in this place is an improvement! But, I am finding it hard to stay motavated.

do it as a gift to yourself. just keep your head down, and keep working. then you can look up and appreciate (although by now I think your week has been completed?) hopehope

Very impressive HollyMaid! Even during your upcoming week of craziness, remember that taking small dainty bites of your elephant add up as well! Wishing you the best!

~update~
I started back to work on Monday and have not got nothing done during this week. I did not accomplish what I had set out to do. a week was not enough.
I am not discouraged I am still plotting along at a snails pace. I did not get the sheets on my bed but, I did wash my comforter.
The kids looked so good going out the door this week in a clean outfit everyday and we saved valuable morning time not looking for socks.
I have Monday afternoon off I thought I would clean my heart out until the kids get home. I have been thinking all week about a few little things I could do before I go to work and what I could do before bed.
Thank you all for your advice and encouragement.
