goldenthreads, nice job clearing the dresser top & reclearing the armchair! on learning not to overstuff the wardrobe for it's magnetic closure to work. Bravo on returning stuff to closet & desk! Good luck on your continued efforts sorting a box of papers.

sidestep , I had actually known that about the closure, but forgotten the details. Now my problem is going to be the old one: it's time to put away the feather bed topper that I'd been using as a comforter, and that's what springs the door open. I could try putting it to its original function, thus "storing" it on/in my bed. Or I could wrap it with bungee cords or something and return it to the wardrobe, but I'm not sure compression is good for it. Then there's that empty armchair... Probably just putting it on the bed is the way to go. Thanks for your encouraging words. I won't be doing much right now on this bedroom project until I get some business taken care of, but then I plan to return to it with energy.

Hi everyone! I was just thinking about what to do with my August weeks off when I saw this thread. The Labor Day deadline sounds like a good time frame for me so I'd like to jump in here and see if I can get started in July to have some momentum by August. (I don't want to waste weeks off lost and wondering where to start!) It looks like I'm just in time to give a gentle nudge to help keep this thread going.
I've tried to limit to a few goals even though every room is a hot spot.
1) Get laundry done and clothes organized. I have closets full, drawers and laundry baskets overflowing and additional piles. Ugh I'm sick of it. It's too bad donating isn't possible like before but I may try to bag up some items.
2) Filing. I probably can't finish it all but I would like to make a good effort.
3) Organize and put away my Christmas stuff - not that I'm much of a decorator, but some of it is still scattered and buried by now beneath new clutter. I'm afraid to see how much of it did or didn't end up where it is supposed to be.
4) I almost forgot - edited to add #4 - very important to me since I have been working from home. CLEAR OFF some desk or table space so that I can use it to sit and work. I have been working very uncomfortably from a couch now for 3.5 months and it is time!
Let's see what we can get done this summer!

Progress: one set upper cabinets done 7/16; update: one lower cabinet with small appliances cleaned and organized 7/20 Goal: clean out and organize pantry closet Goal: clean out and declutter bathroom by garage, which became a dumping ground for stuff from childhood home and boxes of stuff younger dd had when she moved back in last fall.

I've continued to modify my goals, & I am now adding a goal of reaching for 40 Hrs. of YardWork to be added in here too. Fence work might get added into that. - Trimmed Jasmine (3Hrs)/40 = 37 to Go

Finally finished item #4 this last weekend: 4) Do my family room shift which currently houses all the barware, the serving dishes, the "good" dishes and the linens. Plus I have an entertainment unit full of knick-knacks. Destroyed 20 bottles of wine. . It was a pleasure though to get wine from 5 different places in the house and actually put it where it belongs - the bar/wine cabinet. Not sure what is next on the hit parade - I have SO MANY choices. Why do I think (that for me at least) this is really a Halloween challenge, a Thanksgiving challenge, a New Year's challenge?

phoenixcat, with the wine disposal & consolidation. Congrats on that family room shift of barware, serving dishes & linens too! You are correct! Due to lofty goals, this thread has morphed into a Creeping Holiday Thread. I will change the headline to the closest holiday to give us a closer goal to reach for. Continued good wishes to all!
