mouseanne I don't know if arthritis pain is similar from person to person. I take minerals, and hyaluronic acid, glycine, and GABA at night, and that helps me. Are you taking anything for the pain? I'm out of the habit.

Hi sidestep, NewLifeToday and mouseanne! You guys are rockin and rollin today! I am off to catch up! I was going to make beef stew today but am missing peas and celery. I will pick those up tonight when I pick up DS from work and make the stew tomorrow. Besides, today is hot hot hot. I have to keep working on crocheting a toddler blanket... it's boring to work on, so hard to keep focused. And though I have a month or so, I hate being pushed at the end. (ETA: It takes me about 15 min to crochet a row and probably 90 rows to go.) TaDa: Vertical! Caffeinated Dressed and brushed Took meds Crochet one row on blanket Empty dishwasher Found and charged headphones Load dishwasher Soaking airfryer pans Figure out lunch ToDo: Crochet one row on blanket Work on kitchen

mouseanne Is it tricky to use fabrics that are of different weight and weave? I've often wondered how the different weights, weaves, and textures don't pull the seams apart over the years. Hope your zoom worship is nice. :) Done: Dish drainer emptied and more dishes washed. (Doing this ASAP is part of my "Expanding Maintainance". Did most of standing exercises. Finished breakfast. More supplements. Have a clearer idea of things most necessary today. Listening to talks via internet.

NewLifeToday, expanding maintenance, what a wonderful endeavor. Great! I seem to just get to the same spot, over and over, every Saturday. Shirts...well, I pick ones 100% cotton, no perm press, similar weight to regular quilting cottons, so if I decide to mix them, it will work. You'd be surprised, most 2nd hand shirts show minimal wear. It's possible, the ones they get rid of, are the ones they don't want to iron, and those are the exact ones scrap quilters want. link to Bonnie Hunter's websiteBonnie is well known for scrappy quilts from shirts, actually has two books on shirts specifically link to the thrifty quilterThis is where I first heard about it, though.

Done: another round of dishes food prep for tomorrow
Am trying to stay on top of this, so that there are no dishes from a previous day, except for the large cooking projects.

NewLifeToday, just FYI, I added links to my last post. Bonnie rips her shirts, I just sewing shears cut off all seams and hems. I cut off the unlined (interfacing that's glued on) fabric from the collar and cuffs. I toss the lined bits and the collar band. I fold them and package plaids and stripes separately into 7 categories: Strings Short sleeve/yoke Yoke with label Long sleeve Plain fronts Pocket fronts Backs Solids get packaged together The division are because I have a plan for pockets and labels, and the others are various sizes, so depending on what quilt I'm cutting for, I don't have to dig through the folded bits looking for backs (large squares/blocks) or fronts (small squares/strips). It's ok with me if you think I'm nuts. I expect you're not far off. TaDa Piled more pjs on bed Drying steam load Washing pillowcases Yes, my zoom was good.

mouseanne I think your divisions make good sense. I looked at some of the pictures of the quilts made from scraps. So many beautiful works of art! Do you wash and dry the shirts with some kind of "color catcher" to see if some of the shirts bleed colors? I'm always amazed at how not-colorfast so many things are. --- Done: Exercises Off to other chores.... :)

Not generally. Red oranges, yes. Used shirts have already been Washed a lot. So, light to neutral-ish, I throw in with my pjs. I don't want to use fabric softener on the shirts, affects pressing. Or I'll wash darks together, with a color catcher.
No problems with reds, but there was one orange a few years ago. The fabric was stiffer, thicker and ran like the dickens. Haven't used it yet, will prob become a shopping or other bag.
TaDa Steam on bed Drying pillowcases Partly tidied 2 LR side tables, still some papers to do.

I'm glad you have a good system.
I have a light colored 100% cotton blouse, that loses color each time I wash it. I always wash it by hand. That is what prompted my questions. :)
Done: Got card and present for friend who is recovering from a fall. Visited friend briefly. Bought calendars for next year. Took trash and recycling to dumpster.
Time for a break. :)
