mouseanne. I'm also up too early, after about three hours of sleep. Caffeine is amazing stuff. Must have been that last mug of tea in the earlyish afternoon. I'm delaying making the bed and getting dressed; will see. PUPA 5 minutes. Took out recycling. Washed dishes. Do back and arm exercises. Have water and meds. Work 60 minutes on table (and its papers). Shower and dress. Email/text a few friends I've neglected.

Hi all. It's a cloudy, cooler day. Indoor work is on the agenda. done -overnight lights off, front blinds open, back window open -laundry tasks -mostly cleared small dining table, and set up nice bowl to hold 'stuff to be put away' todo -tidy desk top -tidy counters in kitchen -tidy main dining room I've been thinking about our discussion yesterday about things getting messy again too fast. There are several factors for me. I know I am clutter blind. I just don't see my messes. A large part of that is being unaware. My mind is often racing ahead of the present moment and focusing on what I'm going to do next. So putting away a pair of scissors, and tossing that scrap of paper just doesn't enter my mind and I leave them on the table top since I've already left that moment of awareness and on to the next. (I'm also clutter blind to avoid realizing how much there still is to do in order to prevent paralyzing 'overwhelmed'.) Time is another factor. I have the time, and while I am in a decluttering mood right now, I basically resent how much time it actually takes to keep up with repetitive, 'non creative' housework tasks. But I just did that!! I find many of them boring and would rather be doing something else. The reality of how much time it would take to do it all - declutter plus regularly maintaining a clean home - is far more than I apparently am willing to spend. And perhaps why a good number of women I know (always the women) hire a maid to do some of the regular tasks for them. Wouldn't that be nice? But the home has to be more or less orderly for that, I think. I'm going to try to be more aware of leaving little messes behind. (I'm great in other people's homes.) To this aim, I'm going to put a nice bowl or plate on certain surfaces in which to put things I'd normally just leave not-put-away. Then when there are enough, or I feel like it, I can put away the items. It might not work, but then again, it might. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

That sounds very lovely and civilized, BetsyMarie . That would be a good quantity limiter, too. I'm laughing thinking about what size bowl I'd need. Suddenly craving a beautiful bowl in a particular blue-green shade, or maybe a red... I'll know it when I see it. Put out trash. Put away dry dishes. Raised my eyebrows to keep my eyes open. Not working. 'Til later... Do back and arm exercises. Work 48 minutes on table (and its papers). Shower and dress. Email/text a few friends I've neglected.

Sat TaDa Scrubbed soaking Purged 2 corning overstaying fridge welcome Ran Dw Turned off water
Cut white backing fabric into size units needed to rotary cut.
The blade was already dull, then I ran it over a pin I'd marked a spot with.
Well, cheapo me. Frugal is a good thing, no? I stopped what I was doing and made dividers for a lidded box, to store canning jars. It cleared a kitchen shelf, and now I can change the blade. Counting it as progress.
Then the sharpie triggered a coughing fit. I'm getting way too sensitive. Huh. Maybe I'd've coughed anyway. Shrug.

That sounds very lovely and civilized, BetsyMarie . That would be a good quantity limiter, too. I'm laughing thinking about what size bowl I'd need. Suddenly craving a beautiful bowl in a particular blue-green shade, or maybe a red... I'll know it when I see it. I've now set up 4 bowls/trays on 4 different surfaces designated as 'put away later' holders. Some things, like scissors and scotch tape and pens/pencils can remain since I often use them. In the same vein, relatively recently I put a new dishpan on the floor near my nest (where I often eat) in which I put things destined to be returned to the kitchen. That has worked really well. So why not smaller, prettier containers for other things?. As for waiting for a particular color, size, etc, ....being a good hoarder, I already have a full choice of containers. What is nice, I can now put to use some nicer things that I've kept put away. done: -put out bowls/trays on vulnerable surfaces, and put away some stuff -cleaned 2 bathroom mirrors -cleaned 5 (yes, 5 ) full length mirrors in the main bedroom to 'good enough'. 4 of these are sliding closet doors left in the house. Not my choice.

Nah... todo: -declutter in main dining room -organize near sink -food prep Thanks for the thrift store hint oust Maybe this coming week would be a good time to look there. There is a very nice and close thrift store I love to shop in.

Good morning Witsers BetsyMarie - I can relate to what you were saying about reoccurring mess, especially about how much easier it would be to do the regular maintenance if there was less stuff around. I try to stay aware of this and work on getting rid of things but it's not easy. Breakfast Started load of washing Cleaned out emails I need another cup of coffee Read book for a while Hang washing
