There used to be an option of making our own face avatars, which was awesome. Is this gone dear administrators? I'm not an admin. But I remember that Proboards discontinued the ability to make your own avatar from their site. I think it happened about a year ago. The technology that proboards used for the avatar-maker was based on Adobe Flash, which has been discontinued by Adobe. Is that correct Celeste ?

Options for what to do instead:
Step 1: You could use some independent unrelated imaging software or websites and create your own avatar there.
Step 2: Save your newly-created image to your device.
Step 3: Go into the avatar part of your steppingoutofsqualor profile, and select the option to upload an avatar. Then you upload your image directly from your device onto proboards -- and proboard stores it for you inside your steppingoutofsqualor profile.
If you later decide to change to a different avatar, then repeat steps one and two.
Then you can delete the existing avatar from your profile and then upload a replacemnent avatar from your device into your profile.

For anyone reading, you don't have to use photobucket to store your avatar. Photobucket charges money for the rights to have something from their site to be embedded on another site. If you don't have a paid photobucket membership, the photobucket company will eventually "disappear" your image from proboards. Instead of linking to an image on another site such as photobucket or wherever follow steps one, two, and three in my above post. For step one, do either one of these: - If you prefer to use an image or photo you already have, just save that image to your device (to your computer harddrive or to your phone's storage).
- If you prefer to create your own avatar, then find some other independent image-creating software or website and then save your creation to your device (to your computer harddrive or to your phone's storage).
Then follow steps two and three to upload the saved image to your profile. |

Adobe Flash had security problems that couldn't be fixed, browsers slowly phased it out, then Adobe discontinued it. This explains why our wonderful old chat room was discontinued too. OK ladies, in case anyone wants to make an avatar, you can follow this link. Make your face exactly as you want it, (hair, mouth, clothes, back etc) and save it to your computer. Then go to your profile page, to the avatar, and upload the avatar you made. Hope this helps! (I made some myself with different clothes, lips, etc, as I find it engaging to change, as in real life, we are not the same everyday). I just used one on face.co/ You have to be careful, because there looks to be a bunch of places that say "DOWNLOAD' in big letters on that page. Don't click on them. Only click within the rectangle, nothing else on the page.  |
