Is there any reason why I should ever sign off on this board. I check it daily, actually several times a day. One night I wrote a long post, and when I hit the post button, it said I was signed out, and erased everything I had written. So, is there any security reason, or other good reason, why I might ever want to sign off?

If you are the only one who uses your computer, no. If you are using a shared computer, then perhaps you might want to log off so that they will not mess with your user profile or post as you. And of course, if you ever borrow someone else's computer or use a public computer at a library, for example, then you would definitely want to sign off.
When your computer restarts, you may or may not have to sign back in. I have set to be on 'forever', but now and then I do have to sign back in after my computer has been off and did an update of some sort. Ususally I am simply recognized as eagle when I open the home page, though.

Thanks for the explanation. I am only using my home computer. It didn't occur to me that sign out would be for public computers. I have signed on "forever," as well, and so far, have not had to sign back in after re-starting my computer. Again, thank you.
