OK I'm in!
I am not sure what to make as my goals because so much needs to be done. I want to make them realistic.
financial goal -- I have to make an insurance decision. this means figuring out all my coverage and seeing what i should cancel or reduce or what I should add on, based on coverage and my age.
sell clothes goal -- I have a stack of beautiful quality DD clothes that I need to wash and try to sell on FB marketplace first, then a second hand shop, then donate what is left.
food goal - I need to start eating healthier. I am not going to make any huge promises here but I'd like to finally weigh myself daily again and lose ten pounds.
eye doctor goal - I need a new eye doctor so I will work to find one and make an appointment
2023 challenge goal - keep up with challenge by having 170 items completed
no charge goal - I will continue to work on not charging anything.
room goal - I want to end the challenge with my room with serious decluttering so it is a neat, clean, organized space, not a storage unit
girlcat clean up goal - sweet girlcat has a habit of getting sick in hidden corners of my basement, extremely hard to reach places. I want to have all the ones that i am aware of cleaned up.

Today I took down the tree lights and the tree. Packed them and took them to the attic, not easy for me. Took down and packed the big Nativity set and the 3 small ones. Too tired and sore and stiff to take bin to attic or vacuum, and will plan for Monday for those jobs.

Years ago I wrote about what I call "the trough" -- the space between the bed and the wall. I get so tired that I just leave things, lots of things, in that space. It's mostly rubbish -- empty cracker box, tissues, soda can.
I want to challenge myself to clear out the trough. I'm aim for every 48 hours, but give myself leeway, esp. at times like this when I have a bad head cold and don't want to leave the bed.

Hello bree! You have important goals. You have also reminded me that I have to join the 2023 items list--most of mine will be paper and I don't know if I'll get to 2023, but I like counting things!
CP, I used to have a trough! It was not in my past condo life, but 30-plus years ago in an apartment--the bed was just the right amount of space from the wall to let things fall in there but to make it hard to clean it out. When I moved and finally emptied it I was shocked at how much stuff was in there--that was not a good furniture arrangement for me!
I have chosen a book to read for this challenge, it's fiction, looks like a kind of light thriller, it's called The Good Neighbor by A.J. Banner. I almost thought I could let it go without reading but it's not a very long book so I'll give it a try.

I think I will join. 1. Dust all furniture in every room plus around ceilings and baseboards. 4. Gather all small sentimental items and papers in the house and pare down to 1 box only. It's been a week and I've made a good start on the dusting and gathered 1 dishpan sized tub of sentimental or useful items from flat surfaces in bedroom while I was dusting.

Ima, do you think you'll have a dishpan full of items from each room? You will have to make a lot of decisions about which to keep!
Today is report day, I have worked for 40 minutes in the food pantry, I'm almost done. I have worked 30 minutes in the basement (I'm about half finished taking apart a cabinet), I posted 2 books for trading, started reading one book, and did 5 days of old food--while cleaning in the food pantry I found a small bin of old stuff I didn't know was there, so I will have no problem going through that and either eating or discarding something every day. And, I did 20 minutes getting rid of the pile that was in front of a dresser, so it's done. Unfortunately, I immediately placed a box of books there instead but I'll move that soon.
1. CLOTHING--get ready for winter, alter a couple of things GOAL 40 minutes remaining from last challenge
2. CLEANING--other than routine things GOAL 3 hours and 10 minutes remaining from last challenge
3. BASEMENT GOAL 30 minutes remaining from last challenge.

I didn't work on a lot of goals this time but I did get my basement time goal done, I went over what I said I would do, because I wanted to finish taking apart the cabinet. It was a set of 4 old wall cabinets in one piece that the handyman took down when he redid the kitchen--they have been sitting right in the middle of the basement floor since then, and I decided a while ago I didn't want to keep them. I slowly took apart the whole thing with a pry bar and hammer, and then used my new saw to divide the frame into pieces that would fit into the garbage can. It was satisfying to be able to say I did that myself, since I now have no idea when the handyman will be able to get here. The parts will go into the can over a few weeks so the pieces will be here until they're all gone, but that's okay. I also moved the cabinet I might be keeping into a better place, and rearranged and consolidated some bins in the basement, and now it looks a lot better. I will put off doing anything else down there for now, nothing is urgent now that that cabinet is gone.
I also did 10 minutes on my desk files, 5 days of getting rid of old food--a lot of it is going to the outside birds and squirrels--and started cleaning out a cabinet in my upstairs kitchen area--I was hoping to be able to move other things in there but there will only be a little free space to do that once I finish with it. And I'm almost done with the fiction book I started, it's pretty good, I'm looking forward to the end so I can figure out what happened, but it will not be a keeper.

I also meant to say that I might have to add another project. I bought a shelving unit for my enclosed back porch--I keep tools and gardening things back there and other than a few hooks for things like rakes, everything is on the floor or 2 chairs and it's a mess. I'd like to work on this now, but first I have to move everything from where the shelves will go so it will be a big job. I might add goal #20 after all!

Today I attacked the middle drawer in the DR desk. Recycled MANY greeting cards I wouldn't send. Had been sent to me in junk mail. Trashed MANY address labels, acquired in same way. Bagged up the keepers in clear zip lock bags. Took ages. Did a lot more too, but this was a goal. Felt good. catcats

I got back on ADHD medication today. that was the step I needed to take before deciding what to record here. I have some lists up on the walls, but they fade into the background, so I need to keep mixing it up.
The current big project is to transform DVD's adult son's room from a storage area to a craft etc. room. Right now I am processing paperwork. I set that project up in there months ago!
DONE: emptied one wardrobe box and broke it down
sorted pens and pencils
affixed wheel back on to 1 drawer file cabinet consolidated current files in a laundry basket gathered supplies: manila folders, pen, trash, recycing
set up the standing files I've gone through a couple of stacks and am going through a big bin today
TO DO: finish going through loose papers sort and declutter notebooks and blank books and pads figure out storage prep papers that need shredding turn them over to DF for DB who loves to shred take down the project table go through clothes
to donate, store and pack on a rack and in three more wardrobe boxes bring racks to attic for stuff to keep as well as box up stuff I can fold then donate/consign

Yesterday and today were days 2 and 3 of doing the DR desk. I have trashed and shredded and recycled and organized and all 3 drawers and the part under the roll top are much roomier and more clear. Much easier to use, more user friendly. It is all finished. Along with doing this, I have done much debulking of files in BR filing cabinet. This is nowhere near done, but some inroads have been made. I am well pleased, but a bit tired.

yesterday I was getting overwhelmed with all that needs to be done and I might change my goals:
paperwork goal (sort, recycle, shred, organize, make some decisons on financial stuff, etc) clothes/textile goal (laundry, purge, donate, sell)
I don't even feel up to making specific under there. but if I chip away at those two categories, it would really help.

Catcats, I know the kind of greeting cards and address labels you mean, it's tempting to keep them because they're free! But a lot of them just aren't what you want to use so best to get rid of them. Don't you just love an organized desk? Are you tempted to open the drawers just to look at how nice they look?
Scholar, is the room you're talking about (bedroom/storage room) still full of the owner's stuff? Or did you just move stuff in there when you moved in? It has to be weird to be living amongst other people's stuff.
Bree, those goals seem conducive to just doing a little at a time, if that's all you have time for. Although, selling clothes (are these still your daughter's outgrown things?) is probably time consuming, and I understand from reading scholar's posts that you have to pick the right season to sell clothes. Is it still time to sell winter things? I know that in the stores if I want anything for winter I have to buy it way before the end of winter or else it's gone.

Diane I am not sure -- I think I will try on FB marketplace. DD has top quality stuff so I hope to make a few bucks! but I'll see. I will try to sell winter stuff first, it will be worn here for quite a while!
