Hello everyone, I'm going to join in this year. I think these threads started after I did a huge purge years ago and I never felt like I could come up with this number of items to get rid of in one year--but I've done old paper challenges over the last few years and I realize I can use this on paper too, so I'm going to try it this year. I've worked on old paper a lot so there's not nearly as much left, but I never seem to work on it unless there's a challenge. So I will count any physical items I get rid of, and any paper that I keep for any length of time and then get rid of.
So, if junk mail comes in and I immediately throw it in the recycle bin, it doesn't count. But if I have to save paper for any reason, I will count it when I've finally done whatever I need to do with it and get rid of it. The same will be true of other items--if I know from the start it's garbage (like a wrapper from food or something) it doesn't count, but anything I have kept for any length of time and then decide to get rid of will count.
I hope this motivates me to work on paper!
Diane

Whoops, I seem to have given myself a gratuitous 100 items as I crossed over from 2022! I wish! My count as of now should be 1500 items + 1, for a total tally of 1501, not 1601. Will now add: 2 handtowels for donation 1 facecloth for donation 1 old body lotion used up and bottle recycled Total: 4 items New tally: 1505 2019 here I come! To everyone here who has left 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 in the dust and are making great inroads into 2023, cheering you on and am right behind you!

I forgot I wanted to tie this report to yesterday's winter challenge report:
41 pieces of old paper 1 broken Christmas ornament that I considered repairing 1 pill container, which I decided was annoying because it was too hard to open 1 bottle of liquid bandage, too old 8 expired Covid tests, they were expired even when I looked up the "new" expiration dates
1 huge pile of brown packing paper, I save some of this to use to wrap books I'm mailing but I decided I was starting to hoard too much of it
Total: 53/2023
Next report in 4 days instead of 5 since I forgot to do this one yesterday.
