This is the W.I.T. (Working in Threes or 3's or whatever) thread.
Everyone is welcome, even if you've never posted before.
The guidelines are simple: - Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
Post the next 3 things you plan on doing.
Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place.
If the next 15 minutes consists of: - Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided I could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash .... YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post .... Ta - Da's - took pop can to kitchen - put away phone book - threw away McDonald's wrappers
then your To - Do's - bring plates and glasses to kitchen - put dirty socks in hamper - bring folded towels to linen closet and put away
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. You deserve them!

Hello, dear SS sibs! Thought I'd see if I could start the WIT thread tonight (which is actually 7:30 a.m. GMT, so it counts as tomorrow for most of us -- !) TADAs: 1. much more progress on the multiple layers of contact paper -- yeah! am soaking the remaining glue and thin pieces of bottom layer of contact paper so it will be easier to scrape tomorrow. 2. folded laundry during TV 3. figured out how to start this thread! TODOs: 1. Start recipe which needs to soak overnight 2. Brush teeth 3. Go to bed! 'night/'morning WestsideStory

Good morning westsidestory! Good job on the contact paper--that stuff is a hassle to remove. I woke up feeling wheezy and tired this mornig, and disinclined to do anything, and that't why WIT will help me. I wanted to get in here and say hi, but I needed something to post here. So, here are my first three of the day: TA-DAs: 1) Got load of laundry into the dryer and started washing another. 2) scooped the buried treasure out of the cat's litter box. 3) got the trash, and kitty's fragrant buried treasure along with it, out of the house and at the curb in time for the trash pickup this morning. To my surprise, I found that doing all of these things took about the amount of time it took for my coffee pot to fill up. So, I'm off to a good start now. To do's: 1)Empty dishwasher 2)Sewing patterns neatly stashed in a basket and not scattered all over dining room table. 3)Make dent in giant pile of laundry needing to be folded. The pile is as tall as me, and this will take me a while to get done. So I'll have to break that down into several "to do's". I want to see it gone today, though.

Good morning, Mz! TA DA's: 1)Dishwasher emptied 2)sewing patterns organinzed in two small baskets, with the ones I'm planning to sew next in the front. 3)heap of clean laundry is a foot or so shorter now. Side trip--I found a pair of black trousers in the clean laundry that belong to my seven year old and keep getting passed over for being too long, and were also torn at the bottom. I removed the torn/too long section and hemmed them up. My machine is currently threaded with navy blue thread, and I need to buy some black. I decided to just go with the navy blue and get the job done, so the trousers don't keep ending up on the floor unworn. (I'm trying to tell my inner perfectionist to be quiet and just let me get stuff done. ) It ended up taking less than ten minutes to repair them, and you really can't see the dark blue thread against the black fabric. He likes them now and is wearing them to school today. Now when they end up in the laundry, it will because he wore them. To do's: 1) load dishwasher with last night's and this morning's dishes 2)take another whack at the laundry heap that needs folding. 3) get another load into dryer.

Hi bluefrog, wantinmore and hypatia! TA Da's-- 1) Dishwasher running 2)Folded more laundry, including the laod from the dryer before it got wrinkly. I also put a couple of empty plastic grocery sacks in with my teen son's laundry, and a note for him to put the clothes he never wears ---that keep ending up in the wash-- in the bags and to tie them closed for a trip to the thrift store. I keep putting off choosing what clothes stay and what clothes go, and put that ball back in his court, where it should be. 3)Load is in dryer, and another in washer. We have way, way too much clothing. To do's 1) go for a walk with baby and buy a big bag of potting soil while out. I'm glad I have a jogging stroller with a big basket underneath. I don't drive so I do most of my shopping by stroller, weather permitting. 2) get the tomato plants in the ground by any means possible. I have a bad shoulder and an asthma flareup going on right now, so what I plan to do is put the plants in along a fence in our yard. I'm going to dig a hole big enough for each one, then put in some plant food and potting soil around each plant. Between each plant I'm going to lay a peice of cardboard and cover it with mulch. I can't double dig a garden this year, and the cardbaord and mulch will draw earthworms to the area to work the soil for me. Hopefully mulching will cut down on the need for watering, too. I'll use the fence to tie my tomato plants to as they grow, so I don't have to mess with tomato cages. Hopefully this will work, and I'll have tomatoes this year. 3)take a long tea break and maybe clean out some of the clutter on my computer (ancient bookmarks, et al...) for a few minutes. If I get nothing else at all done today, I'll really be pleased about the tomatoes. While I dig, I'll remind myself about marinara with fresh basil, and home made salsa with fragrant just-cut tomatoes...mmmmmmm. Hmmm...while I'm out, I also need to pick up another bottle of Advil.

You all are rolling up your sleeves and doing wonders with your laundry! Wantinmore, those cleaning jobs on your TADA list are definitely not my favorites to do -- WTG on getting them donw!
TADAs: 1. Up 2. Meds 3. Breakfast
TODOs: 1. Another hour on the contact paper. At the end of that hour, I am going to declare it good enough and put the non-adhesive stuff down and start putting back all the stuff which is messing up my place. 2. Treat self to a break outside 3. Then some time appeasing the paper monster which is slowly creeping back into the study *bonus* I will make my bed. I will make my bed. I will make my bed. *bonus* put the new non-skid stickies in the tub

Good morning to westsidestory, mazucontraire, wantinmore, & hapatia!
Way to go, laughinglark, on fixing the pants. Those are the hardest kinds of things for me to get done.
Is it easy for you to trim your dogs' nails, bluefrog? I have a dog that just hates it and he's convinced me that I hate it, too! I wish they all had white nails so I could get it just right.
TA DAs 1) made bed 2) took care of dogs 3) took care of cats
To Do 1 & 2) do a bit of cleaning in the bathrooms 3) clean kitchen sink
At SS my name was marymary, but I really don't like that name so I've taken this opportunity to change it to eatingbonbons. ~Mary
