If you have ever spoken to a therapist, one of the things they tell you is to take baby steps. For me, this has always seemed ridiculous. Why take baby steps when you can take leaps and bounds and actually see success immediately??? Well, take a guess how successful that has been for me. So I am going to start taking baby steps. Only this time, I want to be clear what steps I need to achieve my goals by daily tasks that I need to accomplish using time frames. Then i am going to start attempting to add those tasks to my day a little at a time, letting them become habits along the way. Well, it sounds like a good plan, so lets get started.
Goals: Have a warm, clean and inviting home Have my finances in order Be up to date on family paperwork, appointments, etc. Lose weight and get in shape Spend more quality time with my children Do a good job at work by keeping up on tasks and being prepared for meetings Take the next step in my career and eventually, move on to a new more lucrative position Appropriate meals for everyone in the family every day take my supplements every day
Daily tasks needed to accomplish above goals: 1 Hour cleaning 1 hour family appointments and paperwork 15 minutes checking on bills daily 2.5 hours of cardio 30 minutes yoga 1 hour prep for work (which I can bill for, its part of my workday I just usually spend this time at this point goofing off and playing games) Make Bed After dinner routine morning dinner prep (really just making a note to take something out of the freezer or start the crock pot, something like that) Take the dog for a longer walk every day, or in inclement weather add 15 minutes of cardio Set myself up for success for the next day
Weekly/Monthly tasks: 2 hours of deep cleaning monthly several hours weekly of extra time with my kids instead of sitting on the computer I will make an effort to play a board game or something with them. If I do something active with them like a bike ride, I can combine quality time with exercise time! 30 minutes meal prep weekly 2 hours weekly, (probably Monday morning and Friday afternoon) checking on my schedule and my tasks for the week, making sure that everything is up to date and prepared for
So I will start with really small increments of time, hopefully making things become a habit and sort of easily sliding into a healthier lifestyle. heres what I want to accomplish today:
Set myself up for success for tomorrow - to include finding two youtube videos, one a step cardio video and one a beginners yoga video After dinner routine take my supplements
tomorrow: Make Bed After dinner routine Morning dinner prep Set myself up for success the next day ( I have to find an acronym or something for this) 30 minutes on bills 15 minutes cardio/15 minutes yoga take my supplements . I will report back tomorrow and see if I want to add on or just stay at this level for a few days.

Hi goldenthreads! Thanks for popping in! So update for today: Last night was very successful, I did everything on my list! Set myself up for success for tomorrow - to include finding two youtube videos, one a step cardio video and one a beginners yoga video After dinner routine take my supplements Feels good, did not totally carry over to this morning, instead of getting up and doing the videos I found last night I laid in bed until the last possible moment playing on an app. well. I did spend 30 minutes on bills though and even tackled a bill which was frustrating, so taking a W for that one. Make Bed After dinner routine Morning dinner prep Set myself up for success the next day ( I have to find an acronym or something for this) 30 minutes on bills 15 minutes cardio/15 minutes yoga take my supplements I will update throughout the day with progress, but I am thinking about if I should add on for tomorrow. Not sure yet, want to see how I do. If I add anything, it will probably be laundry. maybe. !2:30pm update: did almost everything on my list! Only the exercise is still pending. And, a total bonus, I did the dishes and ran a load of laundry. Thinking adding laundry and dishes might be the next few steps.....
