Happy Monday! I must have gotten a decent nights sleep as I woke up early feeling pretty good. I showered and crawled back into bed to watch the morning news. Next thing I knew it was time to get up!
Busy weekend - we had a lovely visit with our exchange student. She is such a kind and caring person. My parents wre so happy to see her. She does not live far away so hopefully she can come back soon.
I managed to get laundry done this weekend and that was it. I couldnt get anything out of the garage to storage as my entry code isnt working (I have to pay my bill)
Had a scary moment on Sunday, cali had gotten sick and my son was so worried as she was shaking and could barely walk. He took her to the emergency vet. They think she ate something moldy out of the garbage or drank some stagnant water in the back yard. She perked up and was back to normal before they started doing the expensive work. Phew! He dealt withher while I brought my mom tosee my dad. they were both still tired from our visit on saturday.
Last night I sat at the bottom of the stairs and made myself sort though some piles of mail. I took two huge stacks to the paper recycling back.
tonigt I am going to declare a war on books. I am going to get two of those reusable shopping bags and fill one with books to read and one with books to donate. I had them all sorted out and the piles toppled. So once I fill the donate bag - off to the library it goes.
The library had their huge book sale this weekend. I managed to stay away. I will go in the spring as I am looking for some specific cookbooks.
I stopped at one yard sale but not to shop. I wanted to congratulate the woman on her new job. I did peek through the piles but did not buy. I did stop at a free pile on another street and grabbed some games. I will check them for missing pieces then put them in the pile for christmas donations. We gather used toys and games and donate htem to the local street soldiers during the holidays. The good thing is I can bring them to shurch and they will store them.
OK - time to get some work done.

Good morning everyone! A fresh new week, let's take advantage of it!
What are you working on today, def?
I had them all sorted out and the piles toppled.
Ohblondie, ugh, this brings back memories of my condo...good luck with letting a bunch of them go!
I walked to the library this morning to pick up my begonia cutting. When I got the bag home, it's not a cutting, it's three wilty stems with a little chunk of root on the bottom. The roots would be good, but the stems are long and I don't see how they're ever going to support themselves. But I did put it in some water and perlite, and I'll see what happens. I will also research begonia cuttings--they are usually one leaf--maybe I should cut off these leaves and try to root them. But I don't know enough about begonias yet..I'll read about them later.
Once again the dog was out in the middle of the night so she didn't want to go out yet.

Slept for a solid 8 1/2 hours! Did not even have to stumble out of bed to pee in the middle of the night. Used cbd and herbals for that sleep but whatever works.
I have been so inspired by reading here this morning! So many people going thru hardships and still working well. Lights a fire under me.
put on decent clothes (as opposed to house uniform of sweats) open gate for workmen unlock basement door quick check of basement bathroom in case anybody needs it start running AC so furnace guy can check (second opinion) cancel acupuncture appointment for this week check to see if property tax payment went thru

Good morning danny! Oh lucky you to get that much sleep in a row. I actually got more hours than usual last night--3 hours before the dog had to go out, and about 4 afterward, but only by sleeping later than I wanted to.
I had to turn on the AC upstairs already--the forecast of low 80s for today and tomorrow has turned into a forecast of almost 90 both days. And warmer the next two days than they said. My next trip will have to be to Walmart, but now Friday would be the first possible day I can go, unless the forecast changes yet again.
Next:
10 minutes on paper Sterilize dish sponge and clean out microwave Wash some dishes Delete 10 hard emails

Hello Diane, I am working on my bathroom vanity. I have a lot of makeup that is just not right for my skin tone and also really not the same color as the packaging says it is. I hate to waste! But I'll have to get rid of it. I'm going to test on my face what I am keeping. I want to narrow the products down quite a bit.

Def, when you are done testing, make sure you wash your face before going out anywhere! I hope you're able to clear out space for the things that you like best.
I'm going to check again to see if the dog wants to go out, and then I will have lunch.

Ugh, the dog wanted to go out so I went out with gloves to cut back the squash leaves that have taken over the sidewalks again. It's so hot! I sprayed some lemon room freshener on myself and it helped, I don't think I got any new bites but I can't be sure because as soon as I go into the sun, the already present bites start itching! The dog next door was out and whined so I would come to the fence to pet him. I love that dog.

we are having similar weather Diane, except chilly in the am and pm. so I need to change my clothes; its hot now. also: a couple of months ago I learned that every fruit needs a certain number of leaves to mature. In peaches, for example, it's 50:1. Can you tie the leaves up so you get more squash?
I took a long nap. feel better, but not moving yet. I need to find something to listen to that is not quite as engrossing as what I picked.
DONE: took meds.
called DM and told her I would come over and cook dinner. So that gives me a deadline.
put dry dishes away washed flatwear glasses are soaking
NEXT UP: where is mat? finish dishes boot laundry
change shoes set up sorting table outside pull out all the melamine and fancy glass sort it and then put away in cabinet paint another coat on a panel on the cabinet? need to check weather as it keeps raining unexpectedly

Wow, that's really interesting scholar!
As far as the squash plants go, the ones overtaking the sidewalk are the pumpkin plants, and since I didn't plant them and most likely won't eat the pumpkins, I don't mind that there are only a few. The weird thing is that last year the zucchini plant was large but more contained, and produced more, this one is in the middle of the yard so it's been able to sprawl more, and there are fewer zucchini--it's not near the sidewalks so I haven't cut any leaves off of this one. It is in a different part of the yard but both get the same amount of sunlight. and the soil should have been similar. We did have a bad drought this spring but I tried to water it, maybe not enough.
What I'm mainly getting out of these plants, especially the pumpkin, is enjoyment--being amazed that they appeared with no effort on my part--I wasn't even sure what they were at the beginning--and grew so large with such beautiful large leaves, they are really pretty. Also, we only have 4 weeks left before the possible first frost so even if pumpkins started growing now they wouldn't get very big before the end of the season.
I did already try to pick up some of the vines and move them over, but some of them are putting roots down in various places so I had to cut them away or I won't be able to get my lawnmower out of the basement!
