Good morning TT!
Thanks lennon, for starting the thread this weekend.
So last night the dog had worse anxiety than she's been having, but that was before I gave her the new twice a day medication, which I didn't give until evening. A side effect is sleepiness, at least at the beginning, and she doesn't want to get up this morning at all--I made her stand up but she just went to a different part of the bed and went back to sleep. So I'm not giving her the morning dose and have a call in to the vet to see if I should cut back on the dose the first few days. They are capsules so would be tricky to cut in half but I have empty gel caps so I could approximate it if necessary, or just give once a day. She slept through the night in one spot again, which means I got to sleep for about 4 hours in a row. I woke up at 4:15 and couldn't fall back though, mainly because now I was worried that she was sleeping TOO much.
I have a book due at the library this morning but between wanting to keep an eye on the dog and it being rainy and cold and blustery outside, I think I'll wait to bring it back until Monday. I think since I've moved here I've had overdue books twice, each one was for a couple of days. So I think I can afford a 20 cent overdue fine.
I hope everyone has a productive but also relaxing weekend!
Diane

I heard back from the vet but I'm not really satisfied with the advice, first she said to use the second drug "as needed." Well, it's supposed to be for pain and anxiety, she has pain from the arthritis every day, does that mean give only once a day? Finally she said to use my discretion as to when she seems the most anxious, so I will just have to play it by ear. I did manage to get her up and out to the yard, when she came in she ate and drank, so she's okay, just extra sleepy.
Now I have to get myself to do something constructive. I will start by calling my decluttering client.

It is a cold, rainy, dreary day here and I am very sluggish. I paid bills and checked to make sure some big refunds went thru. Had some leftovers for lunch. I'm chipping away at stuff in the foyer. Dusting, sorting, setting a few things aside for donation and making stacks of keeper stuff like books. It's kind of shuffling, handling things more than once but each time it gets a little better/easier.
Yesterday DD1 and I got a huge amount done in the back quarter of the family room. We pulled stuff out, cleaned things and most of it will go for donation. A ton of sports equipment. DD wants to keep one of her baseball mitts, a bat and a ball for awhile and I am not quite ready to part with our horseback riding helmets, crops and racing goggles. What we put in the garage were tennis rackets and balls, a badminton set, a volleyball set, a croquet set, a couple field hockey sticks, a few soccer balls, a couple basketballs (still have a couple more), a few baseballs/softballs, footballs and a pump, a couple bicycle helmets, a couple boogie boards and skateboards. Some belonged to my stepson when he spent a lot of time with us. It was all in decent shape and can be sold at animal thrift.
There were a good amount of new dog and cat beds, 15 of different types. I will keep some and donate some to the small shelter that really needs help. There were thick towels for drying wet dogs and a few hooded cat caves. All that stuff still had tags. I cannot understand what possessed me to keep buying and buying years ago. And then letting it pile up and forgetting what was there.
The table in the garage is overloaded and stuff is sitting on the floor. The truck already has a bunch of stuff in it for donation. I was trying to keep things separated and organized so my trips could be in a loop without backtracking. Now that there is so much more I will need to go over everything again and plan differently. Animal shelter, animal thrift, dog/cat senior sanctuary, library, book buyer, church, interfaith center, Planet Aid box.
I'm also starting a section for cleaning supplies. There are shelving units in the garage filled with all the prep things I got during Covid. Bleach, Pine-sol, hand sanitizers, Clorox wipes, industrial strength cleaners from Don Aslett, jugs of laundry detergent, Scrub Daddy products, sponges, Mr. Clean magic erasers and eraser sheets, Lysol products. All my huge plans of getting the entire house clean while we were in lock-down that didn't quite make it. I'll check expirations but most of that should be fine to donate.

Wow danny, you are really releasing a lot of stuff! You will make the thrift stores and charities so happy!
I stopped for lunch and a movie break and never got back into doing much. The dog is completely back to her normal self, I did check a few times to see if she wanted to go out and she finally did a little while ago, so once again I'm not sure how the night time schedule will go. I thought I would try to give her the medication that made her sleepy last night again tonight, the vet said she would be less sleepy over time but if I only give it to her occasionally she won't have a chance to get used to it. I don't want to give it to her before she does her night time toileting though, because if she's in a really sound sleep I don't know if she'll wake up when she has to go! It would be nice if this relaxes her enough to let her sleep calmly at night.
I gave her the other medication in the middle of the day like I did yesterday, I would prefer to move it towards morning since it's easier to remember to give it to her then. I felt foolish today when I looked at the tablet--yesterday I put it in a piece of cheese without thinking--today when I took it out of the bottle I realized that it looked like the kind of tablet that is flavored and tastes good. (The vet always puts a huge label on the bottle so I can't read the back of it where the description is.) So today I just offered it to her and she gobbled it down, no cheese needed. This one takes a few days to work so we won't know if it's helping for a little while yet. This morning when she woke up she limped pretty badly but she did lie in the same position for the entire night--if I did that I would probably be limping too.
I did do a little more work on my kitchen plants--I kind of neglected these during the summer because they're a little harder to get to--some are on higher shelves. I'm actually letting a few of them go because the original plant is old and tired, but only after taking cuttings (pothos) and babies (spider plant).
I also went outside and walked along the sidewalk on either side of the house until I could see both side of the roof. It's very windy here today, and I swore I heard scraping sounds, like shingles sliding off! I didn't see anything like that, although there are a couple of spots that I will have to be sure to tell the gutter/roofing people to look at. I'll call them next week, also the furnace guy.
But first I'll try to get my Walmart walk in--I'm starting to finally get low on some things, maybe I can go Monday or Tuesday, depending on the rain. The furnace guy especially just calls minutes before he's in the neighborhood to ask if he can come in the next half hour or so, so I don't want to be out shopping if he wants to come over with little notice.

Good morning everpony,
Diane when I was experiencing symptoms like your dear doggy is, I got a lot of relief from regular (daily) dosage, and the sleepy side effect did diminish.
I slept late yesterday but eventually got busy at C's. Pulled out the 6' tables and organized the Halloween decoration boxes on top of them. bagged up a deceased friend's remaining belongings for donation. brought the paperwork for her estate down to the basement. boxed up the bulbs.
then I started on the clothes; sorting a huge pile into boxes by size (she lost a lot of weight). I need more boxes! this will keep me busy today. and we might work in her closet.
She helped me with my taxes last night--saved me $128! (She is a tax preparer by trade.)
Then I went to my sleep study. didn't get much (any?) sleep, but I did get to breathe through my nose!
and Google Maps did the weirdest thing--sent me parallel to the freeway, over a narrow winding mountain pass. I did not realize what was happening until there were not turn offs. I was a bit nervous because a portion of it was uninhabited and my car is due to fall apart. but I did discover a huge grove of coastal redwoods that I did not know about.
DONE: made decaf updated log checked online balance checked email checked calendar
NEXT UP: back to bed

Good morning scholar!
I did discover a huge grove of coastal redwoods that I did not know about.
Wow, I would love to see that!
So things are going pretty well with the dog, I don't see an improvement in her arthritis yet, but last night we went out at the usual time and she did everything, so I gave her the new medication when she came in. After a short panting episode she quieted down and once again slept all night--but this time I know she got up once to change position because it woke me up. I slept much better too. This morning she was still sleepy but I went upstairs for an hour or two and when I came down she had moved to the living room bed and was ready to go outside. She ate breakfast and seems fine. So, I guess I have to decide if I just give it to her at night, or try during the day too since it's supposed to help her pain as well as the anxiety. But, so far I'm cautiously optimistic.
Today my plan is to tackle some particular areas--I want to work on that pile next to the dresser that is on my challenge list, and I want to finish washing dishes once and for all. I had a ton of things to wash when I cleaned out the fridge and could never seem to totally catch up, plus I have some glass jars from food that I want to save for storage, and they had messy things in them like peanut butter so they will take a while to thoroughly clean. And there's the kitchen downstairs which is the room that makes me unable to say the house is totally decluttered!
It's cold and damp again today, I'm already feeling sorry for the outside birds because as they sit on the railing waiting for their morning seed they look all puffed up and cold. And it's not even winter yet!

I walked puppy a bit earlier in the drizzle. It has been raining and drizzling for part of the day at least for the last ten days! I also devoted a chunk of time to binging as a show was leaving yesterday night. did manage to do some laundry and sweep floor and dishes and litter. today is a perfect day to cozy up to a good book as it is gray and dreary and raining. So far today fed animal tribe did a small clean of the refrigerator got ready and went to church - so much to pray for in this sad time... went to two grocery stores just put away the groceries rainy days are hard days for my animal tribe. puppy has been bothering boycat and he is angry!
