Hi lennon , thanks for getting the weekend started !!! So far I picked up groceries, got gas in the car for the week, brought back in the big trash can and the big recycle can from the curb. I think I am feeling a bit better and I need to keep working on my eating and exercise plan to keep it going. Today I am going to focus on some basics and get ready for next week (usually I do this on Sunday but it would be nice to get the cooking done, food put up, lunch packed, clothes laid out on hangers for week, and week plan set up done. I think I will be working in threes today or maybe even ones 1. Flip laundry 2. Trash run 3. Recycle run

Going back and forth with dogsitting duties for almost a week really wore me out. I did get a lot of laundry done at DD2's house which is now all sitting in the garage.
The garage is a disaster area again. Laundry, donations, trash and recycling backed up with the holiday, the ladder I didn't put away from doing outside Christmas decorations yesterday and emptied boxes of wreaths and garlands tossed wherever leaving narrow goat trails.
Today DD1 and I will finish putting out the rest of the outdoor Christmas decorations. Before any laundry comes in the house I will give it a quick look to see what can be donated. Those clothes will immediately go into bags. There are a lot of clean blankets that will go in Costo boxes to be delivered to my acupuncturist who will then take them to the drug addict/homeless shelter where she volunteers.
There are small piles and boxes of donations of books and Christmas decor that will get out this week. I keep unearthing more dog sweaters/coats to give away. There are only a few I will keep because they hold such precious memories.
Last night I bought a ton of vitamins and herbals supplements with great Black Friday discounts. I have been feeling very run down and need to invest in my health again.

Good morning TML!
Thanks for starting the thread, lennon!
I have just come back from the library and mailbox, wow, it's chilly outside! I'm glad I brought mittens.
I took out a couple of "for dummies" computer books, one on Windows 11 and one for the latest version of Office, which isn't new anymore but was when I got my new computer three years ago. I figured out enough to do what I had been doing in both older versions but occasionally run into something I would like to know how to do, so I'll see if I have enough time to look at these books. Luckily they are not new so I should be able to renew them a couple of times unless someone else wants them.
I hope everyone has a good and productive weekend! Just one month til Christmas!

Thanks, Diane, granddog is an old girl. I would like to stay with her the whole time but I get too nervous now about what might be happening in my home and don't want to leave DD1 alone to deal with things overnight. But Granddog was especially naughty this time. Every single morning that I went back she had gotten into something and made big messes for me to clean. Doesn't matter how I try to outthink her she will find a way to show how angry she is that her family has left her and that I have the audacity to leave her at night. Even after they got back when they went out to run errands they came back to messes. They have had to do a lot of travelling this year and old girl is very unhappy about it.
I got the ladders put away in the garage. I got out two more swags. As I was doing so, I noticed one of the outdoor wreaths had a mouse nest cozily built into it. I am really losing my patience with these d*mn mice. They had shredded the ribbon and there was some other material that was light and fluffy but I couldn't tell what it was. When I went to hang one swag I found out the mice had taken the twine that was formed for tying the swag to the lamppost and made their nest with that. So now I have to get more twine, measure it out, triple wind it and cut it to make new hanging ties. I had to give the mice credit ~ they took that rough twine and shredded it to a softness that didn't seem possible. Still........ At least the measures I took to keep them out this year seem to be working. We have only trapped a few inside to be released into the halfway mouse house outside. I've probably jinxed myself now. Little f*ckers.

danny15 - I use a organic BioTech pest control place for my mice problem. I would do catch and release but I dont get up and down stairs as well as I used to and I would tend to get busy and forget. So I never even set up a catch and release bucket as I thought it would not be good if I was not checking it a couple of times a day. They use a vitamin D box for the mice, it does kill the mice and sends them outside looking for water but it is not a poison that would hurt predators. They said it would take 23 mice in one setting to make an owl feel sick. Also if by any chance my cats managed to get several it would be like a vitamin D boost for them. Sending pets to Granddog 🐾. I can’t think of anything that would help unless you could take her home with you but she may not travel well, do well in a new environment, and it would be your house with messes. So not a good solution. Diane it is cold here too. I was trying to find the space heater I had in the garage but no luck with that. I may have to order another one as I can’t work out there and freeze but i have no idea where it went to. I used to keep it next to my shelving so i could pull it out and plug it in but this is how life goes when other people are running about the house. It could be in the basement - which does not help me at all as I could not get it up out of the basement or it got mixed into the decluttering items in the garage as I did give one like it away so both may have gone. One thing i do know is that it is not in the garage and definitely not in its home spot in the garage. I think in the future I will stick my name on stuff like that in garage so people know to leave it alone. The last time I saw it the contractor and floor guys were using it to work in garage. It doesnt make the garage omg how wonderfully warm but it does keep it about 50 - 60 something so I can wear a coat and be comfy. Edited: I am just going black Friday crazy this weekend: I got a new space heater for garage and a new lunch bag with a pack of no BPA slim freezer inserts. Plus a grow light for the kitties cat grass that I have been meaning to grow for them. I will grow it in the bathroom for them and then put it out in the afternoon. When I tried to just leave it out all the time with no grow light the last one died. I have a small herb garden grow for me with non kitty toxic herbs but i know I cant have it growing if they dont have cat grass. Added: and an egg cooker. I got a new hamilton beach 3-1 egg cooker which i was omg I can now do easy eggs. I stopped using my old one as it was plastic and said nothing about bpa nontoxic etc. I got the hamilton beach one free at work. It just showed up and absolutely nothing about nontoxic, bpa free, etc, and it is all plastic. So I just got a new vobaga metal egg cooker stainless steel for all the parts that touch food. Plus it has a custard pan for the poached eggs and it can do veggies and dumplings. More black friday items…

TML thanks for sharing your experiences/advice. Inside the house we use Illteri catch and release traps from Amazon. They work very well, maybe more than a dozen times each before the mechanism for the door gives out. Between DD1 and myself we are able to check the traps first thing in the morning, last thing at night (late) and several times during the day. Once we caught a baby and he seemed to have passed out. I talked to a wildlife person who said when one end of the trap has peanut butter plugging the holes and then the trap door closes behind the mouse it is important to get them out within a few hours. The baby revived quickly once I released him.
Most of what we catch are tiny critters, occasionally the mom or dad. You can also hear the trap door snap pretty loudly which alerts us to get the mouse outside right away. I felt really badly about releasing them a good distance away from the house in freezing cold or rain; they seemed so disoriented. I would frequently have to shake them out of the trap, they were afraid to run out. Most of them I think had been born in my house and so they had no idea of this new scary environment that they were dumped into. So I recently built a little halfway house for them. I open the trap an inch or two away from the opening for the house and most of the time they will run in. They can stay there safely for awhile and leave thru several openings when they are ready.
Usually I don't care if they live in the garage. The dog, cat, squirrel and bird food we store out there was secure. If I don't transfer the bagged food/seeds/nuts to a secure container I have no one to blame but myself. But I do get annoyed when they cause damage to things. Not their fault, of course, they are going to do what mice do. And, honestly, I do find the tiny ones quite cute. Years ago, DD1 had actually made pets out of a couple. But with less cats around the house the mice population has exploded and they aren't so cute anymore.
I used to bring granddog here to stay when we had a lot of dogs. It was hard for her to adjust for a day or two. She is treated like a human in her own home. DD2 cooks very healthy meals for her family and also for her fur baby (who frequently eats on the table with them). At my house she had to adjust to fitting in with the pack. She could do it, she just pitched a fit for awhile. Eventually she realized that in this house the rules are very different than at her house and her doggie cousins kept her in line.
She is also an extremely needy little girl. She would cuddle with DD1 and myself or the other dogs and cats when she was here; another warm body was always available. But we don't have the time (or the desire) to give her the attention she craves. Also as she has gotten older (12 years now) I felt it was better for her to be in her home environment. So I travel at least 45 minutes each way and spend the day with her. I can do laundry and paperwork there. We have a routine of an insanely happy, energetic greeting then fetch and tug of war with toys, then intense cuddling where she tries to crawl into my neck skin under my chin. Then she finally settles and naps on the sofa where she can keep an eye on me. It is sweet but it can be annoying also. My arm skin is more papery as I have aged and every day her nails tear little bloody holes in me. I always wear t-shirts and short-sleeve sweatshirts so, again, like with the mice, some of these problems are on me.

Uh oh, TML is spending her entire paycheck on Black Friday! I'm glad you got a heater, if you're freezing while trying to sort things you can't be in the right frame of mind to make decisions.
I watered whichever larger plants I could to empty water containers, and just filled up 7 gallon containers with rain barrel water. I will still check for any other containers one more time before I attach the hose and empty the rest of the water out around the tree. I have to do it within the next couple of hours before it starts getting dark out there.

DD1 is unpacking her village of North Pole statues in the driveway. There are Santas, Elves, Nutcrackers, Snowmen, Gingerbread people, etc. that stand about 18 inches and have solar lights so they look good at night too. She will arrange them in a front garden area near the German Shepherd statues. I got up the swags on the garage and lampposts. Checked a dozen blankets and loaded them in boxes in the truck. I stuck in a couple boxes of hand warmers and toe foot warmers ~ 40 pairs each. Got the winter flag up ~ it is a stag whose rack is decorated with greenery, red berries and little birds. The background is a pretty snowy nature setting.

cando I felt like that last week. Overall crummy feeling with the throat hurting, very tired, kind of nauseous. I loaded up on Vitamin C, seemed to help. I hope you get over it soon!!
DD1 asked me to help her undo teeny, tiny screws and put batteries in her North Pole people. Then she set them on a timer so they will be lit from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. I guess the solar power doesn't work so well. They do look really cute. It is too cold out!!!!!!!

Cando, I'm so sorry you're sick again, you have had more than your share of colds this year.
Danny, wow, it sounds like you go all out with Christmas decorations. Do people drive by your house to see them?
Well, I did go out and finish the water barrel, but I decided to wait until time to let the dog out and then it was already almost dusk, and using the hose to empty the barrel was taking too long--you have to get the hose just right so that there is no variation in the height of it and my lawn is so bumpy only a trickle of water was coming out. So I ended up tipping the barrel over multiple times to dump water into a big bucket and carried them over to the tree, which took so long I was out there in the dark, which I specifically didn't want, but, oh well. Now of course, my back hurts and I'm tired. But, it's done, the barrel is upside down and technically the yard doesn't need anything else urgently before it gets really cold. We have light snow predicted for tomorrow, and Monday and Tuesday will be highs of only 30. Wednesday is 36 so maybe I'll try for my shopping walk then.

Evening all! Had a productive day today, even though original plan was to go see my mum and I feel bad about not following through on that, but I was also really tired between recovery and long tough work week.
Done: Emptied living room trash Emptied bathroom trash Trip to recycling centre Handled mail Paint testers tested on hallway wall Hallway rugs taped to carpet - it's holding them in place really well! Cleaned limescale off of downstairs bathroom tap Load of laundry Achieved dining table zero Laundry from machine to dryer
