this is helpful, thank you!
I save so much, thinking I will scrapbook them.
DVD no longer saves memes. He just gets up, shows them to me, and then moves on. What a concept!

I'm a bit beh9ind on my emails--been busy! But I have started decluttering my contacts. Just doing a couple of letters at a time. Its astonishing to me how many people I have no clue about! Over 50%!
Anyway, I have gotten through "E"

Ugh, yes papermoon, I hope to someday get back to the Swedish Death Cleaning thread, or whatever it was called--I have lots of stuff to do for death-cleaning! One of my friends asked me if I could be listed as a helper if she dies before me, and since I don't live near her now my job would be to close down all of her online accounts. She sent me an extremely long, detailed list of every account and password--so unlike my records. That's why I keep putting my password project on my challenge goal list. I pity anyone who has to go through my messy file folder and try to figure out what's important and what's not.
I'm down to a fairly solid 1400 emails, but progress will slow now because the hard ones are really hard and time consuming. Of course, I'm also going through everything that comes in, but the old ones are all long book emails, or other things that I feel I need to look at. And this is after letting some go, and unsubscribing from a few more. But I'll keep working on it. I'm trying to think of a number I would be happy with--1,000 sounds so high, but I guess since I started over 10,000 it's a lot better. Maybe 500? Because just to keep it at whatever number will still require working on the new ones.
This week I read a short chapter in one of my computer books, trying to learn more about photos. I learned more about the Windows photo app, but then tried to work with it for probably an hour, and still couldn't figure out how to print multiple photos on one page. So I went back to Windows Explorer and I was able to figure it out there again--at least for now. The good news is that my new printer seems to be working now! I kept printing small color things and now there are no more lines. I'm just printing on plain paper, I haven't tried photo paper because that's another whole thing I'll have to learn. And I don't think I even want anything on photo paper--maybe just a nicer quality regular paper would be fine for my purposes.

thanks, papermoon , I have been thinking about that recently! that's a project for me, too, Diane. I have struggled figuring out how to print multiple photos on one page. I resorted to opening a word document and inserting them there.
I have gotten behind as I have been so busy. today I did a lot of deleting, but I am up to 105 in my current folder.
ETA: I was able to get back down to 63 today. I need to make a new folder for "waiting for" emails.

Oh...I guess I never thought of that, or even thought that I could do that! I'll have to see if I can figure that out.
I only worked on emails and I'm down to around 1,300 but don't feel solidly there yet.

I'm still not solidly at 1300, my handyman came this week and that always takes up a few days of my time. I worked a little on tweaking my ToDoist software too.

I have hit a personal best low--50 "current" emails this morning!
I haven't worked on the contacts. I did work on sorting emails in folders and deleted some of those. I've also caught up on data entry for the house flip project.
I just discovered the roller on the top of my mouse changes the screen size. This explains how my kitty has been doing this lately! Now if I could figure out how to turn that feature on and off.
bree, not that you need another thread to follow, but you are welcome here of course!

Hi mylittlescholar....thanks for letting me know about this thread. I have more emails than I care to admit!!! my email account dates back to around 2008 so there is a lot there! it is a walk down memory lane....I cleared out all the emails from Apple and then I ended up in the emails of DD's cheer coach whose last name started with an a and I was caugt up in memories! I have decided rather than go through alpha I am going to find emails by name specificially and then clear them out like for example search for Kohls and delete all Kohls emails. this morning I deleted 100 emails and unsubscribed from about 10 places. The other thing is daily diligence towards that day's emails. I get these recipe emails for good meals, vegetarian emails, meal planning, and weight loss tips for example. all from one place. the reality is that I need to delete each days ruthlessly unless I really think I am going to make that dish. Need to remember I always have access to the internet!

Hi bree! I had over 10,000 when I started. I set up archive folders for each year back to 2012 (previous ones lost to the last computer), and focused on working on current items. So glad you got to see some happy memories!
I also deleted emails sorted by sender. The ones with account or legal data were a bit slower to sort through. But some were easy!
Congrats for deleting 10 subscriptions! it astonishes me how fast I get new ones, without even being conscious of it. Right now I have a bunch of political subscriptions, but I am good at glancing through them and deleting immediately. Looking forward to not feeling the need to keep such a close watch on that scene.
This thread has really helped me get back in the habit of keeping up.

oh mylittlescholar I am a way bit - a big bit - over 10K!! spent some time deleting emails today I had about three days worth of deleted emails in my trash and it was a bit over 2K! I have decided I must be so ruthless with the new day stuff and just delete all but the few I want to keep

deleted 925 emails updated email preference for one place to receive only one thing versus multiple.
