60 emails left in the inbox today. unsubscribed to one list yesterday. I suspect I get more emails when I click through to shop. that gives me motivation not to shop and also just unsubscribe.

Wow, bree! Those are a lot of emails!
I'm afraid I went backward this week, I'm back over 1400 because of my bad week waiting for Comcast to come and fix my internet.
I will do my best to catch up this coming week.

What I'm about to report should make everyone feel better on their situation . I was reading an article yesterday on digital hoarding - thankfully that isn't my situation - I can let go but frequently don't. I have a four email accounts One is purely receipts for apple activity (i.e. the apple account). Then I have two personal ones which are primarily there for signing up for things or getting responses on personal things where I don't want to expose my company account email. I can't see the volume on those accounts with my phone - perhaps if I sign into them on my laptop - but do I really want to know? A lot of times if an important mail comes to the personal accounts I will forward to my company account so I can handle it. I also have a dormant account of my mother's which I clean out of all new activity frequently but haven't touched the old stuff. Our online newspaper subscription is linked there as well as the notification from USPS on daily mail incoming - DH has an account for that but I don't think we can share it so need to figure out my own. Out of the five - DM's and apple are by far the smallest. My company account is a BEAST. We have been in business for over 2 decades. Fortunately or unfortunately, we have had multiple crashes where I've lost a ton of old emails. I have an archived recovery file from 2003-2006 which has "some" of those emails from that period - over 8000. 2007 into 2015 was basically lost - very little was recovered and existing on my current laptop. There is a possibility that it is stored on an old laptop. I have lots of those. . From 2015 - everything is stored in multiple places so even if my laptop were to completely die (which has happened a few times) - I can recover my world from the cloud. I currently have over 60000 in my inbox folder and almost 18000 in my sent folder. Since it is my company account and it is a record of important interactions - it will never be "small" - I would say if I delete 40-50% of the inbox and 10-15% of the sent items - that would be a tremendous feat. But there are a lot of categories that have served their usefulness and those items can be deleted. Notifications of bank activity, online bills, notes from insurance or state governments, estimates that were done for customers - if they were actually "used" - they would be in the sent file, etc. I had about 1500-2000 emails that were "system activity" from 2008-2015 - mostly calendar invites, read receipts, undeliverable notifications, etc. I deleted almost all of those yesterday morning - I am now starting on November 1, 2015 in the inbox records. I have full records from about September of 2015 moving forward until today. My goal is to go through one month a work day purging out the unneeded records. Once I get to 2024 - I will stop until taxes are done. If I factor in that 8000 from 2003-2006 - I'm guessing it will take me roughly the remainder of the year to finish if I'm lucky. I can't even describe how absolutely horrid DH's email is - think quadruple or probably six times bigger than mine. He doesn't eliminate garbage emails - he lets 1000s sit in his inbox which would drive me absolutely insane . Sometimes I will pick up his phone and it will show 15000 unread emails. . Then when I make a comment - he will mark them all "read" and start all over again. How he stays on top of things - I have NO IDEA! Beautiful mind. Let the journey begin! PC

350 + emails deleted from November 2015 Actually applied a bit of math to my project - at this pace - it will go WELL INTO 2025. Frankly it is also a low reward project - NO ONE cares but me. Anyway, at a pace of 350 a month - I will decrease my inbox by over 50% - that is still 25-30 thousand left

I hope you get a least a few dopamine hits for your efforts, phoenixcat!
I haven't finished my contacts project. now I want to start the photographs. I used to be really good about editing the day's photos at night, and just keeping the best. When I processed my own film and prints, I expected to just get a couple shots per roll. Digital is both too cheap and too expensive. I'm paying $17 a month between two online storage accounts. I might as well set up my own server. AND the last 10 years of photobucket pictures have disappeared. I am so frustrated, but hardly have the spoons for my own important/urgent stuff, let alone deal with vendor eff-ups.

Hi cando!
NO ONE cares but me.
Ah, but think how rewarding it will feel when you are done!
Oh scholar, I haven't even started on photo deletion.
And, I'm going in the wrong direction on emails! I haven't been able to keep up this last week again, so I'm well over 1400 again.

Been bouncing around on this project a bit. We've had a lot of much higher priority items at the office this last week. I eliminated some empty folders (online). I eliminated a couple folders that had a small amount of very old, un-needed emails. Periodically dumping a bunch of old emails in the personal accounts. When I go into dump the daily stuff - I just scroll through and add a bunch of old stuff. Very much into a mindset of "what I can let go of" instead of "what can I keep" which I think will serve me well. I did go down a rathole of looking at some old emails from 20 years ago when I was just recovering from extreme illness. Lots of emails about entertaining to my nieces and nephews . Was I ever that energetic? Of course then I was on a steroid rush of high dosage steroids so probably contributing to the energy! Total - 300(ish) from various accounts

deleted 1563 emails! lots to go
I made the mistake of having some companies unsolicited start sending me daily emails and just ignored them!
but today's haul was from a time when I as an unemployed sole provider and I was in a very prolific networking group. ugh. brought back scary memories. glad to delete.

Great job, everypony!
Yesterday I realized I could also unsub from texts. Sent STOP to a bunch and deleted those conversations.
its all very haphazard, but better is better.

My gmail.com account has made it so easy to unsubscribe. Each new email has an "Unsubscribe" button on the subject line in my inbox display page. I don't even have to open the email, it's just done from that button.
