I'm glad you made it through the day, bree! Enjoy your walk with puppy.
I just went out to feed the birds on the back porch and I see that some creature has chewed the wood at the bottom of the side of the door. I don't think the hole goes through into the wall of the house, but I can't say that for certain--this is my huge fear, with mice. But, I don't think this was mice or even a rat--the wood was torn in pieces about 1x2 inches across! Raccoon? Why would they choose that spot to chew--I don't get it. I piled up some bricks in front of the spot and put a 20 pound weight against it to hold them in place, but I'm guessing a 40# raccoon can move a 20# weight...I guess I will be calling the handyman sooner than planned.
My ear keeps hurting on and off today, just when I think it's gone I feel it again. My face doesn't hurt now though, so hopefully it's calming down.
I just want to sit down with a book and read for hours and forget all the things that are happening right now.
I'm going to finish getting one of the reading room plant tables ready, I probably just have 20 minutes left and it will be ready for seed planting.
Then it will be time for dinner.

Good morning!
I had better sleep last night, finally--I woke up many times but fell back right away each time. I don't feel rested but I think that will take a while. Ear still feels funny, but not bad enough to go to urgent care.
The high today is listed as 75 degrees, and it's still February--I hope this is not an indication of what the summer will be like.
I'm still trying to get to baseline, it's mainly the downstairs kitchen and dining room that are problems, things I don't know what to do with. Maybe I'll get inspired today and figure out what to do with them.

Did not sleep well last night - not sure why - tempted to go into work late but I pulled up my big girl panties and here I am
Last night I intended to make sloppy joes using up some rolls we had. WHen I pulled out the rolls they had gone bad. UGH. They were a nice heavier roll that would have stood up well to the moisture in the sloppy joe. So I had to do a pivot and use the package of Kings Hawaiin rolls I had. I cut the rolls open and laid them flat in a baking dish, I poured the sloppy joe mix on top and topped with cheese and baked in the oven. they tasted great. Next time I will cut the meat in half and just broil for a few minutes to melt the cheese. I helped my mom shower and changed her bedding and putzed around with a few minor things. Other than cooking dinner - I did not get much done at home. considering I did not get home til 730, had to wash the skillet to cook the meat then made dinner - well it was 830 - so I made sure my clothes were set out and then went to bed.
tonight I have a board meeting so nothing much tonight. Tomorrow I work from home so I will get more done tomorrow night.
My daughter shared a picture of her ultrasound - the baby is sucking her thumb!!

Good morning ohblondie1

Cute!
Well, I saw the porch culprit! I looked outside as soon as I came upstairs to make sure my blockade was still in place, it was. Then at 7:00 I heard something on the porch and opened the door--raccoon! OMG, so adorable! And not 40#, I would estimate maybe 25-30#. Of course, he or she left the porch when I opened the door, and not all that fast either--it took a minute to squeeze through the space underneath the gate at the top of the stairs. So I have to find something else heavy to put there as well, I think this raccoon could move aside the weight and the bricks. This also tells me I have to call those gutter people so they can inspect the roof and make sure there are no other spots where they are trying to get inside.

Popping in to catch up.
End of January DGS started to get sick. Maybe flu into strep throat into bad pneumonia. He was coughing so much and so hard the doctor took x-rays and saw DGS cracked a rib. This went on for several weeks. His mom, my DD2 got very sick and I was trying to help. Then DD1 got very sick. Of course I got it. On the third day I knew I was going downhill pretty fast but thought I could get in a trip to one grocery store for OTC meds and to talk to the pharmacist and Whole Foods for lots of soup and healthy foods.
Awful, awful, awful. Long story short I ended up rushing into Whole Foods bathroom to puke my guts out. A sweet young girl offered to help me. I have to give big props to Whole Foods ~ their bathroom was SO clean I had no problem kneeling on the floor and all the etc. that go with that.
I made it home, collapsed on the big dog bed in the foyer while DD1 got stuff in the house. My fever was 102 and the chills were terrible. It snowed that night but at least I was all set with everything we needed. For the next 9 days I laid in bed, slept, read, sipped Pedialyte, couldn't eat much and dropped 7 pounds.
Yesterday I was up and moving a little bit and today I am feeling exhausted. It's going to take time to get energy back. It was the first year DD1 and I had skipped our annual flu shots in at least 10 years. I had forgotten how terrible the flu is. Never again will I skip that shot at the beginning of November.

Hello danny! Wow, that sounds awful for your whole family. Was the doctor confident that it was influenza? I didn't even know you could have stomach symptoms with respiratory flu! Yes, you will take a while to feel normal again.

I got another call from my decluttering client.
I'm going to take another reading break, and then I'm going to spend a short time in the kitchen downstairs trying to put things away.
By then it will be time for dinner.
We are now under a tornado watch until 10pm, there might be severe storms but it's hard to say from the maps whether it will affect where I am. The first thing I thought of when they said storms were coming was, I'll have to make sure I take the dog out before then...I'm still getting used to the fact that she's not here.

I'm hearing thunder, but the radar looks like the rain might pass us by, or maybe just have a short period of moderate rain instead of the bad storms that are north of us.
I made some progress in the kitchen downstairs, I believe I will be able to finish delcuttering the first floor tomorrow.
Good night everyone, see you in the morning.
