Hello TT, good luck for a productive evening!
The upstairs looks good, I still have to do a few things downstairs after I eat. I also have to call my decluttering client again tonight, but I can do that later--it feels so funny to no longer have a schedule I have to follow. I would also like to list my challenge goals tonight.

I'm finished with dinner, now I will run downstairs and finish the last few things down there--then I will be done!

~~~~~~~~ I can separate animals from what they're doing because when they do something "wrong" I know their motivation is not to do something wrong--it just conflicts with what I or someone else wants. It's not like people, who will do terrible things even though they know it's wrong and they don't care. The raccoon was not trying to vandalize my house, she's looking for a warm, safe place to have babies (or, maybe just to sleep during the day). A cat not using the box is not using it for a reason--dirty box, inconvenient box, perfumed litter, insecurity which necessitates marking territory--etc. The cat is not trying to annoy me. And as for biting--well, the times I've been bitten by animals the animal was afraid or in pain, with one exception, and that was a headstrong dog I had in my early 20s that I didn't know how to train properly. And most of those times it was my own fault since I could have been more aware of the situation and more careful. Or learned more about training before getting a headstrong dog breed! So I have a lot of patience with animals. People, on the other hand... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Totally agree. I always taught my kids that if an animal hurts you, it had a reason. We may not understand that reason but at the very least we can learn from a particular incident what not to do with that animal in the future. I think truly loving animals and working with them means having an innate ability (and then developing it) of thinking like an animal. That same mindset can be used to deal with some people too; especially children, the elderly whose minds are not what they used to be, people with disabilities. But I would much prefer to try and understand animals than some people's craziness.
Baby stepping it around here with lots of breaks. Changed the two furnace filters, checked the salt level in the water treatment container, got some papers together for taxes for DD1, cut up some fresh veggies and cleaned some fruit, cut up a roasted chicken to have meat for sandwiches, casseroles and the carcass for homemade soup. I'll never be a vegetarian but I do always offer up a prayer of gratitude for the animal whose life was given to nourish mine.
Dealt with a big stack of mail, paid some bills online. Gassed up both vehicles, took out stuff and returned to garage that I keep for winterizing them ~ ice scrapers, brooms, kitty litter, shovels, blankets, hand and toe warmers. I am optimistic that snow is finished for this year. Or if we get one more good March snow it will melt within a couple days.
Hi Danny!
Okay, the house is back at baseline! Now I have to try to keep it here. I realized that I was trying to declutter before bedtime, but that doesn't really work. I have said that I will count a day as being at baseline if it's that way at any one point in the day. So, what I should do is try to work on it in the morning. That way, if I make a mess in the evening and I'm too tired to clean it up, that day will still count, and I can clean it up in the morning.
I did talk to my decluttering client again, and now I will need to go downstairs soon. My new "schedule" will be to go down at 8, close things up downstairs and then get in bed and read until I'm sleepy, which hopefully will be no later than 10.
I will do my best to get to Walmart in the morning, unless I have a terrible night sleeping. It will be cold, but that's good weather for walking.
I will have to wait to post my March challenge goals until tomorrow.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow!
Diane
Good evening!
The planning meeting I had with DVD today went really well. What a difference a well-adjusted partner makes! We haven't started making the nitty gritty decisions, but we do have them all listed and organized.
it took a lot of mental energy, so we have been chilling since. Now I have a video appt with nutritionist. If I don't come back, see you in the am.
Today I did a bunch of tasks like folding laundry, unloading DW, the dailies, etc. and then Dot and I had our outing to celebrate her birthday belatedly. We stopped at a food store first for a few things I needed and then we went to a restaurant and had a nice brunch. Then we went to a big old Victorian house which houses a very nice consignment shop. I was able to find 2 tops and a couple of small items. I also bought my DD a pair of new, tags still on, pale blue sweatpants and 2 small clothing things for our expected baby girl . These are for DD to keep at her home for later when the baby is a little bigger.
Came home and took out trash and recycling, mixed the 2 types of dry cat food, put away groceries, and fed the cats and myself ( just a sandwich for me.) Talked with my BFF in CT and texted with my DD. Napped for an hour sitting up on the sofa. I am so tired. My legs and back were rebelling all day at my constantly standing and walking, and it feels good to be home, but I did enjoy the day, nonetheless.
My best to all.
I went to the local HS musical last night. It was quite entertaining. And not as crowded as I thought it would be. There was a tall head in front of me so i had to sit, leaning into the aisle, to see around the head.
Overslept this am, had to get gas as well, and I just made it into work on time. I am drinking my coffee like it's my job!
So far I am the only one in the office. The two women at the end of the row always wander in late and leave early when the boss is working from home.
OK - I have a big call at 10am so I better get moving.
Good morning ohblondie and phoenixcat!
There was a tall head in front of me
Catcats, I love how much you go out and socialize even though you're tired when you come home. Phoenixcat's mom was right, better to be tired from something fun rather than being tired from boredom.
I just got home from Walmart. All the usual things hurt, but I think I walked a little faster today, probably because the weather was so nice and cool. I walk east to get there so the bright sun was just coming up and was in my eyes the whole way, but other than that it was okay. I put the frozen and refrigerated stuff away, and I fed the outside birds, who were all sitting around waiting for me.
I need to rest a while now.
Friday!! I have not been here since Monday. A very crazy high anxiety week. danny15 I am sorry you were so sick! glad you are better. I think I had the flu once in my early 20s and I remember I was so week that my dad had to help me sit up! I used to take the stairs at work, five flights to my office, and I remember when I was back at the office I had to really regain my strength to do that. and I was maybe 24? Diane I love your love for animals. I relate. my very first cat, a little orange feral kitten, formed a friendship with a raccoon! They would sit together. And I once had a litter (?) of wood chucks born in my garage. I'd see a woodchuck in the garage and naively think it was cute, not realizing it was looking for a nest! sure enough I discovered a hole in the floor covered with all sorts of leaves and 5 babies soon appeared. I let them all be, somehow the cats accepted it (pre-puppy days) and then I began to firmly shut my door to the garage to keep them out once they were old enough to be on their own. I had the hole filled in (made sure it was empty) and thankfully it was not one that connected to a maze of other woodchuck tunnels!
ohblondie your grandbaby! how fun that you will retire right in time to be a grandma
so I have had a really stressful week, some caused by factors outside of my control and others caused by my fear and procrastination. as a result, I have made for some really stressful days ahead due to procrastinating.
I have spent a lot of time on the phone and texting with DD. She made a decision that seemed like it could help her situation but now it seems like it might not! So she is in a tight spot. it is one of those things where there is no right or wrong. ugh. yesterday I did not get a really heavy dose of her sadness/stress, just a little. I hope that she has a good day. I am truly truly mentally and physically exhausted from it but I really want to be there. i am just now offering validation of her feelings which I think helps. not trying to fix anything as i can't anyway. i might be forgetting but this seems like the hardest time of being a mom for me.
I had two social events this week! one night I went to really fun alumni event at my university. a colleague at work is also an alum so we went together. this university has deep pockets so it was quite a spread of food and open bar even! I also had dinner last night with two people that I have been friends with since we were nine years old! they are both retired just now. I figure I have at least a bit over three years to go at a minimum.
I am running huge meetings at work. very "scary" ones. yesterday i got caught in an elevator at work and was late! very awkward as i did not have my phone with me so I could not text anyone to say start the meeting! it ended up ok.
the wind storm here damaged my storm door. boo hoo. one more thing!
I am working at home but heading in very shortly. Puppy is at daycare.
house is a mess. with all the DD stuff and two social events, I am very behind. I am truly exhausted!! but I know if I chip away I can get back on track
Good morning bree! I love woodchucks too! Although we are more likely to call them groundhogs here--not that I've ever seen one in person, but they are another animal that uses their hands to hold things. And their faces are so cute, especially if you can see a little bit of their teeth sticking out!
I don't know why I bother saying any animal is especially cute, I will say that about every animal, because they are! My new favorite animal to see in videos is the capybara. They seem to get along with all other animals, and are so huggable looking--actually, they look like giant groundhogs!
I have a big office supply/stationery organizing project to do (should have put it in my challenge) so I will start that this morning, that will give me more sitting down time today.
TO DO:
Call decluttering client 10 minutes on organizing project Restock water in fridge Delete 10 hard emails
That's funny bree, I think capybaras look just like giant woodchucks--they are rodents too, the biggest rodent there is. Unfortunately they are not found in the US.
Diane, we used to camp a lot and often we were very near a state park, in various places. My DH and I used to drive all through a park each evening and count the MANY groundhogs sitting near the edge of the road. We would wind it up by saying, for example "It was a 17 groundhog night !" The memories make me smile. I think they are adorable. I also think the capybaras are cute, but of course, I have not ever seen one.
Today, I have spent all morning doing dailies, taking out trash, and just generally resetting the house. No matter how decently organized it looks, all it takes is one day out, and bringing in some purchases, and whammo ! it doesn't look organized anymore. However, I do tend to set things right pretty fast , and am much more likely to do so than when I was much younger. I am also doing some laundry.
I have some business calls and research to do, and then whatever I get into this afternoon.
My best to all. Maybe bbl.
