Good morning! Lennon, thanks for starting the thread!
The handyman did bring the air conditioner, took out the old one and put in the new one. He helped me move the birds downstairs. I told him not to worry about taking the old A/C away, I would bring it down stairs (one step at a time on a blanket) and drag it to the alley for the metal people to pick up. But he took it away anyway, since he was able to just pick it up and carry it down the stairs. I'm so thankful, now I feel more able to get through this heat wave--I will be fine unless there's a power outage in the whole neighborhood.
This morning I went out early to do a little weeding and watering, and one of my 2 zucchini plants looked dead! When I looked closer the stems looks okay, the leaves were shriveled up. I didn't water them yesterday but I did the day before--and the other plant 2 feet away was fine. So I watered both of them very well and will see if the shriveled plant perks up--if so, I know I have to water them every single day. I saw a couple bees while outside but they were both on the woody nightshade vines, not any of the other blooming flowers. Still not enough bees for mid-June--and after those first weeks of seeing a variety of butterflies, I've only seen a few cabbage whites recently.
Now I will need to call my decluttering client, and then figure out the rest of the day.

Hi lennon and Diane Diane you might like the weather here - very sunny, blue skies, about 68, gentle breeze. I have not done too much today. put away the clean dishes fed the animals a little dog play made myself a good dish of egg, cheese, and spinach did those dishes cleaned the litter emptied the dehumidifier in the basement wiped down stove top and counters took out some recycling I told DD she could have the car today, she is headed to beach. So I'll be home. With my knee - doing ok but def feel when I use it - it is a good day to do paperwork. I have some important stuff to get down. I did not pay a bill ugh! it was due in the midst of my knee stuff and I just forgot about it. In addition to paperwork, there is always vac, laundry, dusting ....

Good morning bree! I'm glad you got an appointment with the specialist in 2 weeks, it always seems crazy when you have to wait so long for specialists--by the time you see the doctor you could be healed, or, whatever it is could be so much worse. It sounds like your knee isn't getting any worse in the meantime, that's good.
Next:
Go through mail, put bills on calendar Write out a friend birthday card Start load of laundry Delete 10 hard emails

I have a question for anyone who uses a window A/C--do you use Eco mode? I never used it on the old one because it didn't seem to work--it would run for 10 seconds and then shut off while the temp in the room kept going higher and higher. I'm trying it out on the new one, but it just seems weird--it seems to work so hard to re-start--is it really better for the unit to have to keep re-starting every few minutes? I read something online that said it's best to use at temps under 78 degrees--does that mean 78 degrees outside? Or if you're setting it for under 78? It is nice to have some quiet moments, but then when it starts again it's annoying each time...I would love to save some money on electricity but I don't know if I'll get used to all the starting and stopping.

Hi oust!
if you're hot don't bother with eco. Just get cool.
I guess I don't really understand what eco is--does it just stop the fan from running during the time it's not cooling? Because when it's on cool, the fan runs continuously and the machine is keeping the temp at what the thermostat is set at by sometimes putting out cool air and sometimes room temp air. If it's set on eco you still set a temperature and it's still supposed to keep it at that temp--I guess I don't understand the difference. If it's just that the fan isn't running sometimes that doesn't seem like it will save that much electricity.
And if "eco" means that it doesn't cool the room as well, why not just run it on cool and just turn it to a higher temp--you'll be less comfy and save some money doing that.
Actually, I did turn it back to cool earlier--it was running for about 3 minutes, then it was off for maybe 2 minutes, then it turned on again for about 30 seconds and then off. That just doesn't seem efficient to me, so I put it back to cool.

Hello reve!
Good Sunday morning! The first day of the "heat dome" heat wave, high will be 94. It looks like it will be hot all the way to the northeast coast over the next few days. I hope our Florida members are okay, with the flooding there?
I went out to the yard for a little over an hour, watering and weeding, I started at 5:30 so it was still pleasant. I am very disappointed to report that the plant under my porch is not the sunflower-like one, now that it's bigger I can see it's a tomatillo. And the false sunflowers and Mexican sunflower that I planted to replace it aren't doing very well. They don't look unhealthy, they're just growing so slowly.
On the bright side, I did see 2 different black butterflies yesterday. And, this morning there was what I thought was a dead bee in the water bowl so I fished it out and put it on a brick next to the bowl--when I came back a little later it was gone, so maybe I rescued it just in time?
I just started a batch of brown rice in the rice cooker so it can be done before it gets really warm in here. I might just make a second batch so it lasts me through the next week, there's room in the freezer.
I guess I will play these warm days by ear, it depends on how hot it gets upstairs and where I will be. Today should be okay since it's the first day, the heat hasn't had a chance to permeate the building. I'm worried about tomorrow's doctor appointment, I will be walking there (it's about 4 long blocks away) and back in the 97 degree heat forecast for tomorrow. Also a chance of thunderstorms...but I will bring ice water with me. And an umbrella.
I'm going to eat breakfast now.
