Bree, I purposely ask for the first appointment of the day, because I understand how doctors can get behind when things take longer than they planned. Sometimes the doctor comes in to the office area before 12 so I know he's already there--but then they put me in a room and I wait an hour--I don't get it. You would think that just by chance, some days would be earlier and some later. At least I got some reading done, and it's over for another 3 months. Your doctor was even worse--everyone overbooks, but 5 people for the same slot is really bad!
I've been resting and trying to stay cool, without turning the air conditioners way down. I did a little more reading, and I've been working on deleting emails--that's about it--I think I would be more likely to get something accomplished yet today if it was cooler. I might try to go outside an hour before my usual bedtime and see if I can get some watering done, although according to the forecast, it will still be 91 degrees at 7pm! Ugh.

I dont know what possessed me, but this morning I matched up my socks and folded my underwear OUTSIDE on the table on my deck. It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be but I was hot when I was done. I dried my dad's clothes and brought them to him. I also brought him ice cream. then I fed him his dinner.
Helped my mom shower and changed her sheets. DH came over and pretended to be my dad and called cable to get it fixed and the bill lowered. $108/month for basic cable and phone. My mom doesnt even watch tv except the 4th of July concert in Washington on PBS. WHat a rip=off cable is. I also too a mat/rug out of her apartment that she no longer wanted.
Came home and DH made scrambled eggs for dinner. He just started Ozempic and it is bothering his stomach. So we are eating lighter meals based around protein.
Someone gifted me a drill that I thought my husband would have a charger for. Nope. He has Dewalt tools and the drill was Craftsman. I was hoping to get those scrubber brushes and use this to clean.
I have two lunch dates this week. Tomorrow with an atty that I used to work with and weds with a police detective and DA that I used to work with. Busy week! I was also supposed to help with the local elementary field day and scoop ice cream - but school is dismissing early so I am not sure what is up with that.
OK - I watered my plants ot back - I need to quickly water the ones out front

Ohblondie, maybe there's an adapter for the Craftsman to use DeWalt batteries. Every time my handyman comes over he shows me a new adapter he has for tool compatability--I don't know what they cost, maybe as much as the drill! He tells me about them because he thinks there are some tools I need that are other brands, but I have Ryobi tools which are sold only at Home Depot, they are less expensive and meant for people like me who only use them very occasionally. I love every Ryobi tool I've bought though, especially my wonderful battery operated lawn mower!
It is still 91 degrees out, and feels like 96. And we have an Air Quality Alert day, oh goodie. But I will push myself out the door now to at least do the birdbaths and water bowl, and to water the zucchini--those should only take 15-20 minutes.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow!

Good morning!
Yes reve, I think the whole upper midwest and the east coast are in the heat dome. Last night I set the central air thermostat for 80 since I figured I'd be sleeping and wouldn't mind if it was warm--this morning I woke up and the temp on the first floor was still 80--it hadn't gone down even one degree overnight. I did do my hour-plus in the yard, I went out at 5:20 and it was warm outside, but at least there was a breeze. I weeded a lot while the hose was soaking one half of the yard.
I did notice lots of milkweed beetles on the milkweed, and I saw a few bees but they were again only on the woody nightshade. Weird. The soil is so dry, I'm going to have to go out tonight and try to water the other half of the yard, even if it's still really hot. Tomorrow is garbage pickup day, the only bin that needs picking up is yard waste, so I moved that one through the gate and to the side of the house so I will only have a short way to move it this afternoon.
Yesterday I ordered stamps for my shopping friend, and then I tried to order stamps for myself, but one of the new stamps I wanted didn't have an order button by it, even though it was being issued yesterday--usually they let you order before issue date, so there has to be a site glitch. I sent a message to the USPS, and will be interested to know if and when they respond. I'm ordering horse stamps, hummingbird stamps, and my favorite--sea turtle stamps! They also have a manatee stamp but I don't really like the graphics so I didn't get it. I love manatees.
I'm finding it hard to plan these hot days, I can only move around for a few minutes at a time before having to go back and sit in front of the air conditioner. I'm trying to keep the temp high, partly to save money, but partly to not overtax the systems, and the afternoons get really uncomfortable. But I'll keep doing what I can, I'll try some easy lists today, even if they take me a long time to finish. In the latest forecast the heat just keeps going, there are 2 days in the upper 80s but then it goes right back up to the mid-90s, so there's no end in sight.

Hi all, I'm soooo tired today. Have luckily managed to come home early from work so I'm going to try and nap on the couch for a bit
Done: Handled mail Load of laundry Cleared air dryer Put away clean towels Meal planned and ordered groceries Achieved floor clothes zero Boyfriend wiped down mirrors Tried to clean en suite grout
To do: Spray down shower Clean bath and sink Trip to recycling centre Drop off Shein return Achieve coffee table zero Achieve dining table zero Set out clothes for tomorrow
We have finally arranged for a guy to come and paint several rooms. He's coming out to look around and give us a quote, meaning that we need to have the house in very tidy and clean state. I'll probably type up a list like I have done before of tasks that need done before next Wednesday. But for now, nap!

Hi, friends! Like some of you, I am having trouble getting started today. We each can do one thing … that action may need to another and another and another…so, if you feel stuck, try to do just one thing. And then one more. And post here so we can cheer one another on.

Good morning ohblondie, reve and TT. TT, you are right, we can start small and try to keep going and do the best we can! And I will turn my window A/C down a couple of degrees today, so that it's a little more comfortable in here and I get more done.
I already talked to my decluttering client, she was going out somewhere so called me early so we could still talk.
I will try to do lots of sitting down tasks today.
TO DO:
Start load of laundry
10 minutes going through magazines/catalogues Restock water in fridge Delete 10 hard emails

Got up, showered and dressed. Went out and watered the plants out front that I recently planted. They all appear to be hanging in there
Made 1/2 pot of coffee. Switched to vanilla creamer today as I finished up the caramel earlier this week. It was good, I just need to get used to the new flavor.
My lunch date cancelled which is OK. We were going to eat outside so next week will be better. I grabbed a very small container of mac salad from the local grocery store. Someone new must have made it as it was so garlicky. ugh. While at the store I grabbed two small pieces of chicken that I will cook for dinner. Nice and light.
I promised DH that I would clear out a pile in the hallway. So off I go

Well I have been working my way through the pile, I have a bag of junk mail to be tossed and a small pile to be shredded. I still need to deal with a few larger items to make the walkway clear. One is a shredder from DD. I should test it and see if it works then donate it.
off I go
My reward will be time at the splash pad with a dear friend and her DD
