Good morning womble!
Lennon, thanks for starting the weekday thread!
Today is my doctor appointment so nothing will get done today. Even when I get home I will need hours to recover from the walk there and home. I did go out at 5:30 when I woke up, for an hour of watering and weeding--it was already in the upper 70s and humid so it did not feel good. Now, 2 hours later, the temp is 84 and the "feels like" is 90.
There is something wrong with the insect population--the last couple of days I noticed that a lot of the milkweed in the back part of the yard is blooming already--I can smell the strong flowers (which smell bad to me, but good to the insects and all other humans...) and there were NO insects on the flowers--none at all. Usually the common milkweed flowers attracts not only bees of all sizes, but wasps, beetles, etc. I do see some of the milkweed beetles on the foliage, but where are the bees? I saw only 2 bees during the whole hour this morning, one was hovering over the zinnias and yarrow but didn't settle anywhere, and the other was on the woody nightshade.
Have a good Monday everyone, I'll see you later today.
Diane

Hi lennon womble and Diane Diane I hope your doc has a/c! we have the heat advisory too. I will take puppy up to the fountain tonight. yesterday I did get to the grocery store, and we did go out to dinner. but otherwise I did not do anything besides dishes. I wasted the day, I slept for a long nap. I think it is a combination of never getting enough sleep ever because boycat always wakes me up with long complaining meows one to one and half hours before I need to get up. I can't fall back asleep, so I am always tired. today I am so tired because he did it again. if I go to bed earlier, he does it earlier. then he sleeps the day away. so i often fall asleep on the couch whenever I sit on it. Second I think the whole knee thing is physically exhausting, and three, I would say I am depressed from the knee and other stuff going on. but right now I am so tired hard to stay awake. drinking coffee. at lunch I might need to nap not do some chores. I am working from home, will go back in tomorrow. tomorrow is really busy so I wanted to rest my knee for it today. I did feed the animals. went out back with puppy. already so hot she just was laying down chewing a bone. did a backyard poop patrol made DD a sandwhich as she was rushing around getting ready for work filled the soap dispenser in the kitchen - a small task but I have been putting it off and it greatly improves the quality of my life! I did a little weeding this morning. I have an odd situation w my neighbor. he has a chain link fence which I use gratefully for my lawn on the back only, on the other three sides of the lawn I have my own wood fence. I used to have a wood fence back there too but a big part was damaged in a storm and removed, and the rest kind of rotted out, so I took it out as it was a mess and just here and there. A portion of it is covered by my trees and bushes but a very visible part of my yard is his chain fence. in one part it is double due to a repair I guess. so all these weeds grow in the double part. they are "his" weeds in "his" fence but he just lets them grow wild though he carefully tends the rest of his yard. I have tried to trim through the fence but today I decided I will only weed on my side, no longer trying to pull through the fence to get "his" weeds. I guess I'll just live with the unsightly stuff. it is an eyesore for sure. I am so overloaded with work. one of the PT team members is out on medical leave and this is the most critical time of the year for their work and they are gone. ugh. unlike Chaos I did not berate them, just wished them well. today I need to do budget stuff for work also hope to get a load of laundry done and vac (if I am not dozing off on lunch!) I have a hair appt tonight. looking forward to it but she always triple books so it takes soooo long

Good morning. I enjoyed reading through everyone’s Monday morning posts here in this thread. lennon thank you so much for getting us rolling. Always appreciated. Although I am struggling today with depression, I refuse to give in to it. I am going to read through my coping strategies list from my therapy sessions, and I am going to do what I can. I am going to start with some self care and then set my timer for 30 minutes. Here goes … bree I need to do a lot of weeding but it’s SO HOT.

I went outside and worked on a few things - so far it is warm but not overbearing Many schools in the area are closing early as our schools are not equipped to handle temps in the 90's - 100's. Temps dont usually get this high before school lets out in June. This is august weather! NYS is considering legislation to address this.
I bagged up some things in my front seat that are headed to a friends house. I binned up some yard waste and am ready to take it to the curb I delivered the chair to my mom and brought home my lawn chair - which has been returned to my deck
Next I must flip a load to the dryer Make my bed

Diane, insects all over are in a tragic decline. It’s very sad. I have been noticing it for years. I have a lot of milkweed, and in five years, the most monarchs I’ve seen at one time is three. So far this year, none. I see a handful of fireflies in the evening, but it seems like less every year. I remember when I was a child, they were so many itwas like chistmas lights, and an outdoor light at night would be surrounded by moths. Not anymore.
There are still a variety of bees, wasps, flies and small flying insects around here, but not like it used to be.
There’s surely more than one reason for the decline, probably climate change has something to do with it, but I really think the trend of having yards sprayed by companies like Mosquito Squad is the biggest culprit. You might ask your neighbors if any of them have had their yards sprayed, but I doubt you’d be able to persuade them to stop if they have.
I wish we could outlaw this kind of poison. It’s just heartbreaking.

hot here too! TwinkleToes i did very simple weeding and trimming earlier in the day. ohblondie I saw on local facebook complaints that our district was not closing early due to weather while others are. megtreb all that poison is awful...we are killing everyone humans included! I had a quietish morning at work. One meeting that was ok. Another one that I just had to zoom into, off camera, muted, and I started to doze off. So Chaos has emailed me asking where I am, she wanted to know how i am doing. not likely. she is prob pisssed that I am at home. I emailed back my plans. I was so hoping she'd go to a conference this week and be over the state line! I did manage to cook an egg dish (an omelette if I was skilled, just messy eggs as I did not feel like trying!), and also started a load of laundry in dryer now, new load going. DD has texted home she does not feel great...she has the car so I hope she starts to feel better with lunch. Otherwise I'll have to figure out how to get there and have to take some time off. and of course I want her to feel good, she is a slender girl, not much wiggle room, hope she is drinking enough water. boycat left a sad trophy on the porch, so I cleaned that up next work budget stuff!

Good afternoon folks, I am home from the doctor's office. It seems like no matter what time my appointment, how much ahead of it I get there, and how many people are ahead of me, I always have to wait one full hour after getting into the room before the doctor comes in--it's like they time it. Today I was the first one there, and I still waited an hour after getting put in a room. The appointment was okay, the doctor started bringing up the tests he wanted me to have and I told him flat out I didn't want to talk about tests, he could list them for me each visit, I would say "not at this time" and then he would have done his job and I would have made my choice. Remarkably, he didn't get mad, he just said "well, I have to tell you" and I said, I know, I totally understand. Now, if he would only remember that for next time. They did draw blood, there was a different phlebotomist than usual so she had to stick me twice instead of once, but that was okay. I was always impressed that the other one always got it on the first try.
The walk there was very uncomfortable, luckily when I got outside to go home the sun went behind a cloud and stayed there until I was half a block from home, so it was a little better.
Now I'm going to eat lunch and cool off. I never did turn on the window A/C upstairs this morning, and when I got home it was 91 degrees upstairs. Needless to say, the window A/C is now on.
Megtreb, you are totally right about the insects, I agree with you about the spraying, I read pollinator forums where people are pretty much in tears because their neighbor's yard was sprayed and everything drifted over--which is supposed to be illegal in some areas, but how much is law enforcement going to care? Neither of my next door neighbors spray, I don't know about other people in the neighborhood. I'm thinking this is just seasonal variation, at least I hope so. Last year I saw lots of bees to start the spring but then we had a cold snap and they disappeared for several weeks. We have not had a cold snap like that this year, but again, there was more activity earlier in the spring than now. I wonder if the bees that are born early in the spring just don't have food--so few things are blooming then, the wildflowers that would bloom in a prairie are not things that most people plant in their yards. I would like to plant more early blooming things, but then they take up space which could host plants that bloom for 3-4 months after. I live in an area that has particularly few gardens--when I walk around the neighborhood I see nothing but grass. But, last year the population eventually boomed, so I'm hoping for the same this year. Even though I don't have last year's favorites--that elusive under-the-porch plant, and no sweet clover either.

Diane glad you doc appointment is over and done!!! I hate going to the doctor so much, beyond the norm, and it just struck me that many years ago I had a provider who was a boundary crosser in the worst way and that prob explains my deep animosity to the health field! re waiting an hour -- many years ago, like 30??? wow - back when women were being given empowerment tips and still in a very much male dominated career world, I remember reading about the doctor office -- speak up if they make you wait, you are a professional and your time is valid too. so...I was waiting for my doc for a 1 pm appointment. As I waited, five other people came in and said I have a 1 pm appointment with Bree's doctor. she booked six people for one appointment!!! after waiting one hour, I went to the receptionist and asked when my appointment would be. She said oh she likes to take extra time with patients so it will be awhile. I said if she likes to take extra time, why does she not set up her calendar like that? you'd think I threatened her with physical violence. prob like that scene in Oliver Twist when Oliver asked for more! I also even made it worse by saying do you have my phone number, If you call me I can arrange to come two hours later. . it was so clearly a violation of their policies patients were to wait! I got some stuff done workwise. Chaos sent me a bunch of emails where is this, where is that. I think just to rattle my chains. but I dutifully replied with good updates, all done! I just did the dishes, moved the laundry, and I am going to quick get ready for my hair appointment. It is official quitting time here! all the animals are out in this heat! the house is a/c -even chilly -but they all find cool spots outside
