Syzygy -- Great job on the laundry! And at getting all those Goldfish up and out. And a real big WTG on not inadvertently adding the Goldfish to the laundry, like the annoying Cheetos commercial where a woman puts Cheetos in the whites of someone else at the laundrymat. . Good progress, bluefrog! Bet the bowties will look great when you get them done. TADAs: 1. This particular Paperwork issue is resolved. Yeah! 2. Midway through retrieving my bills. 3. Cleaned out one of those verticle magazine holders so I can try putting bills into file folders which are organized vertically. The leaving them in stacks on the desk method is not working when I am busy and have been in and out of town. Too easy for them to get misplaced or buried! *bonus* did move the bathing suits and some sweaters/tops that I had taken off in another room. got interrupted by phone call before I got to the sandals TODOs: 0. Put the sandals away 1. Write checks for the bills I have found. 2. Mail them. 3. Put away cup and plate left in study from mid-afternoon snack. WestsideStory

Ta dah!
More laundry * Bring first load up and put away/hang up to keep drying * Second load in dryer; third load in washer * After accidentally/on purpose waiting until it was too late to make calls, I went through the to do pile and took out the things that I have to do now/soon. Did 2 now, got 4 calls ready to go tomorrow.
Next... more laundry!

The Goldfish on the floor had been staring at me since I knocked the bag off the counter... let's just say, it wasn't today. They had to go. The worst thing about paperwork is that you can't see any change once it's done. You can work for hours on it, but when it's done, it just becomes more more thing to do- since you have to file it somewhere. So congrats on getting your paperwork project done.

Thanks, wantinmore... unfortunately my classroom is still quite a mess and it's going to take a LOT of hustle to get it all put away in time! I hate the end of the school year because it's always a frenzy like this. I wish the organizing fairy would pay my classroom a visit. I can handle clutter at home because it will wait for me to clean it up. But summer school starts Thursday and they're using my classroom. Soooooo... we have a serious deadline here! My hope is to get the majority of it packed or put up or tossed by the time we have to leave tomorrow. I can go in Wednesday if I have to, but that's cutting it really close.
I'm going to try and get some of the paperwork stuff done tonight after a quick run to the store.. I really really don't WANT to, but I have to. (I had a mishap with my students' report cards and will have to re-do hours of work to type them up again... sometimes I hate technology!)

Hey, SooS peeps,
I love this thread. Have I told you that?
TaDas: --Returned call (and confirmed it with an e-mail) about Friday audition. --Bought cleaning products, to wit, Swiffer, tall container of Ajax with bleach, more rubber gloves, and tall kitchen trash bags. --Used my notebook to make list of things that need to be done this week, and also to copy out lines from Bohème Act III, since I should be off-book for rehearsal tomorrow night.
ToDos: --Open and assemble new Swiffer toy. Er, tool. --See if Swiffer works on kitchen cobwebs. --Change light in hallway.
RahRahs:
Rosebud, you rock for posting those happy guidelines ...
Pegasus, great work on all the lawn stuff ... apparently this all happened before I even got out of bed! Ha.
Hey, Artsy, that's a lot of impressive work! I like that you did Working In Threes not as three, but as three lists of three each ... good on you for taking such good care of your Mom.
Westsidestory, good job with the planning. I'm trying to be better about that, myself!
Bluefrog: Quilting! Eeeeee! You are awesomely cool. I hope you have fun finding the perfect fabric for your project.
Syzygy, excellent work with the separate tasks of laundry and Goldfish. I have plans to vacuum the kitchen ... once I excavate it. Meanwhile, you can be my official inspiration.
Wantinmore, so glad you got your walk. That's such a healing thing to do! Congrats on claiming the time to do something good for yourself.
Teachergrrrrrrl, I feel your pain. When writing up the evals for my students, I always dread some mass glitch that will force me to do them over ... good luck with the final cleanup! In the meantime, kudos for breaking up the project into component parts so clearly.
:-)
Be back soon, I hope!

Okay, I actually did all three TaDas, which were: --hallway lightbulb changed --Swiffer assembled --Swiffer employed on ceiling cobwebs in the kitchen.
You can read my product report over in the General section, in the Cobwebs thread, if you like.
Additionally, I noticed that on top of one of my shelving units was a large vase of dead flowers that has been sitting there over seven years. My church sent it to me back in 2001, when my father died, and I had so much emotional attachment to it that I never got rid of it.
Until just now. I figured it was time. So I took down the vase and put all the dead flowers in a trash bag (it was a huge bouquet; it filled the whole bag).
But I guess objects can be more powerful triggers for emotions than I realized, because I cried the whole time I did it, and I cried the whole time I washed out the vase and put it under the sink.
It will live there until someone gives me a bouquet on a happier occasion (it's been known to happen).
Meanwhile, the cats are a little worried, but they're sweeter when they know I'm upset!
However, I think I am not going to have any more ambitious ToDos tonight. So:
ToDos --drink more water --play some Scrabble on Facebook --get to bed in time to get 8 hrs of sleep
Thanks for reading, all!

I have plans to vacuum the kitchen ... once I excavate it. Meanwhile, you can be my official inspiration. Motra, you ended up being *my* inspiration. I had forgotten that I had a wet Swiffer in the hall closet. The pads had dried out, but I squirted them with a neutral cleaner and quickly cleaned the kitchen floor, focusing on the high traffic areas. I didn't move the cart or worry too much about what was under the table. Actually, the tile makes it hard to tell if the floor is dirty or clean- which can be good and bad. Ta dahs * Third load of laundry brought upstairs and put away. All laundry is done! * Fed myself and cats * Wet Swiffered the kitchen floor Motra, I know what you're talking about with the flowers. I've held onto practically worthless items because they made me feel connected to a person who was gone. I felt that if I got rid of the item, I would be (symbolically?) getting rid of my memories of that person. I've been somewhat successful in convincing myself a) it's not true, b) even if it is, I can connect with them through something else- like a photograph. I still have items like this, though. A little at a time does it. Congrats on being able to let go of the flowers. I hope that you put the bag out with the garbage right away instead of leaving it inside.

Great job on shopping for Mom even though that's not your favorite thing, Artsy.
{{{Mothra}}}. I've lost my parents and have things still that remind me of them. Way too much for my limited space! Slowly, every so often, I am able to give away or donate a couple of things belonging to my parents. There will always be things that trigger tears. It's part of being a human being. You made a decision about the vase and flowers that fits for you, and, like Syzygy posted above, your Dad is probably up there happy for you that you'll get some flowers for the vase.
Syzygy and wantinmore and all other who tackled Mount Washmore today, great jobs on all the clean clothes, towels and bedding!
TADAs: 1. Put sandals in proper place 2. Wrote checks and stamped envelopes with 41 cent stamps -- Yikes! I am out of 1 cent stamps! 3. Responded to e-mails about volunteer duties. *bonus* tore out article for friend and put rest of magazine in recycling.
TODOs: 1. Continue going through magazines and fliers to note things on calendar and get rid of papers I don't need. 2. File the bills in the filing pile 3. Enter payments into log of expenses for the month.
hoping to hold out until Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert tonight -- not sure I'll be able to stay up that late.
'night!
