Just curious... I've noticed that some folks seem to want to have blog capability here. I'm just wondering...could we not just have a forum...similar to the Introductions forum that is called Blogs? This may be over-simplifying what a blog is and maybe it is a stupid question,... CD

- I don't know the answer to this. I am guess that the moderators could not set up blogs that look like regular blogs, but ... I do remember somebody said she belonged to another proboard forum (on a completely different topic) .... and they set up an area for informal blogs, like the introduction area here. An example of an informal blog would be MsAuContraire's ListZilla thread: takeonestepatatime.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=action&action=display&thread=102She has her own thread, and adds to it whenever she wants to. I was wondering, if the mods set up something like that .... ... perhaps an area where each person could have a personal thread that they add onto when they want to? If so, would there be topic rules? (just about desqualoring) ... or could it be like it was at Squalor Survivors ... post about whatever you want to post about? (desqualoring and byways mixed together). The only thing would be, if the mods set up something like that ..... it would need to be made clear that the "personal thread" is primarily for posting by the thread-starter. People could add supportive comments to the thread, but it would be primarily posted upon by the thread-starter. So then, if the thread-starter and a commenter realized they were wanting to discuss something further, then they could start a thread on byways or main forum to discuss whatever. I guess a "forum for personal threads" would be set up like the photo album section is now (must be registered and logged on to view?) This is a nice idea in theory, but it wouldn't look like a blog. And some bloggers like to have blogs that really look like blogs. I don't know anything about blogging, but CanDo has an interesting idea. -

Yes, SweetSerenityCourageousLioness...that was what I was wonderin' about. Just kind of the "Blogging Forum". There could be a list of rules so that the ones Blogging would know that it is not the typical blog... And, yes, only have registered members be able to look at it. Bloggers could choose to keep adding to their thread or start a new one each day.
It could be called "Gettin' it Down Forum"or "Blog Forum" or "Personal Blog Forum". You know, when you just got to "put it down in black & white", or "get it off your chest", or just want to keep track of things going on in your life, or "let off some steam" .........
In the rules, we could state things like:
1. Remember what you post will be viewed by others... 2. Please only respond to a post if you have something helpful to say or encouraging... & do not feel a need to respond...as these are "blogs". 3. Your "blogs" can be about anything! -- does not have to be about desqualoring/decluttering/cleaning/organizing, etc.
Seems like we could keep it simple & let it be known that we are just going to try it & see if it works out...
Even take a poll for about a week to see if folks are interested in that...
Just my random thinking... CD

...This is a nice idea in theory, but it wouldn't look like a blog. And some bloggers like to have blogs that really look like blogs. Exactly. If this is something other people want to do, I wouldn't be opposed to it. But I wouldn't participate in it. For a variety of reasons that I don't really want to expound on - . But what Lioness mentioned above is among the reasons - a forum (even a private one or one set up with special rules, etc.) just doesn't have the 'feel' of a blog to me. It just doesn't appeal to me personally, but other bloggers might feel differently.
Just my 2 cents.
