This is going to be a place where anyone who wants to can list areas of their home (car, yard, shed, workshop, etc.) that is completely squalor free no matter how small and no matter how temporary. I am starting this thread because: Molly gave me, what I think, is a really good idea. She shared in another post that she has areas of her home that are 0 degree squalor. I never thought of it that way before - either I have squalor or I don't. Molly introduced a new way of thinking for me. I don't even have a table top that is 0 degree squalor. EVERYTHING is firmly 2 degree squalor. And even though I have kept pecking away since I found SOS, I am not really making any progress - at least it doesn't feel like it. SOOOOOO .... what if I could make/create/have spaces that are 0 degree squalor, no matter how small or temporary? I'd like to try it and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, this thread can just fade away into the ethernet somewhere and no harm done, right? If it does work out, it is another way to approach desqualoring for fun and success. Happy desqualoring, everyone!

ok. Inspired by Iprocrastinate, I have 0 degreed one kitchen chair. To accomplish this monumental task required: 1. hanging up daughter's jacket 2. throwing my shirt in the laundry 3. putting away a handheld Free Cell game 4. throwing away a warning letter from the prison telling me to not send so many photographs per a letter 5. throwing away a 2 scraps of paper I had made notes on and no longer needed 6. putting away a pen 7. deciding to keep or toss a blank piece of folded computer paper. Decided keeping it was more squalorous than tossing it would be wasteful and harmeful to the environment - tossed it 8. putting a scrap of paper with information about how to find local farmer's markets on the refrigerator with a magnet 9. finding the cell phone bill and putting it in the bill holder (I was wondering where that was! Thank goodness, now it won't be late. Bless you, Iprocrastinate!) 10. tossing instructions for putting a cat toy together - it's together and they are not needed 11. finding 3 pieces of unopend mail and putting them in the inbox (wonder how long they've been there ) 12. putting 4 sale ads and a flyer in the paper recycling box 13. running a lint roller over the chair pad to get cat hair off Iprocrastinate - you rock!

Great work still!!!! It's encouraging to have an area no matter how small at 0 degrees. I'd like to next work on my bureau top which is at a high 2. Thanks again for the idea!!!

my kitchen is 99 percent zero squalor- kitchens always have a wee bit because of life- an odd cup in the sink or Miss Ashley's shoes standing apart but I still now consider it at zero we do live in this world so a few bits and pieces of life do not count- we have to make allowances for living- it is when we stop living that the squalor takes over-- I am proud of my kitchen and just finished doing the night tidy- hugs Meme

OH. my. I don`t know if I want to say thanks for opening my eyes, or how dare you burst my bubble According to the SS scale, most of my home is level 1-ish, with some spots verging on 2. On the 9-point scale, it`s more like 2-4. Most of the time I call the public areas good enough, but I don`t have ANY areas, or even pieces of furniture that are 0. This is a GREAT challenge!

gettingsomewhere - You are always there for me! Thank you for the attagirl, wonderful lady! What is that atavar? (running joke ) Iprocrastinate Good luck with that bureau top! I love the ranking-within-ranking you assigned it: a high 2. I'm going to borrow that, if I may? Papaswife Woo-hoo! on the kitchen! 99% works for me! And the kitchen, for me, is the hardest.. You are a kitchen cleaning goddess! sleepymom Welcome to the fun! It is kinda fun to see the despaloring from a differnt focus, isn't it? Hope you find a spot to 0 degree that blesses your socks off! So far: 1. the kitchen chair is still 0 degree; my daughter brought the mail in and dropped it on the chair, but I had 0 degreed that chair and was defensive of it, so I took care of the mail immediately. Yay, me! 2. I realized that I have one kitchen cupboard that was already 0 degree and I didn't even appreciate it. That is way cool. This focus goes a long way towards eliminating a constant belief the squalor is winning. 3. the top of the refrigerator is now 0 degree thanks to doing challenges with lilith in the chat room last evening. Woo-hoo! Happy 0-degreeing everyone!

Still--hooray for the 0 degree chair!
I am sitting here typing in a hotel room which gets a visit from housekeeping every day, but I DO have 1st degree squalor in my purse, make-up bag and big toiletry bag.
Can't wait to hear what becomes 0 degree next; go Still!

The insides of my kitchen cabinets are at 0 degrees and I didn't even pay them the honor of noticing. Today I have cleaned out 2 drawers in my dresser... and yes, even dumped the dregs out of the bottom. So 14 cabinets and 2 drawers are happy! This in turn makes ME very happy.
What a wonderful thread!

chairs - that is so cool that you are in a squalor-free environment for awhile. Hey, however it is accoomplished it's great, isn't it? I wouldn't worry about the inside of a purse - especially one at only 1 degree ! You are doing great! You mentioned you are typing in a hotel room. You a writer? Working on a rewrite away from distractions? gettingsomewhere Thanks for the attagirl! sweet lady! And thanks for clearing up - somewhat - the mystery of your avatar - ! It certainly looks like it's having fun - kind of an Aussie way of seeing life! dwa20 Woo-hoo! on the 0 degree 14 cabinents and 2 drawers! Actually, that earns three Woo-hoos and some dancing bananas! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! My 0 degree chair is still 0 degree! Woo-hoo! The cupboard with my daughter's sodas in it is 0 degree.
