Serendipity Woo-hoo! on the new cutlery!!! How FUN!
Hopping mushrooms to you for starting a new thread and running with it!
I am so glad that you have developed a way of using this website to meet your needs. You will have company. Just keep on keepin' on and someone is going to drop in on your thread and think "This is just what I need!" and that will be the start of having several regulars doing it with you. Woo-hoo! I loooove company!
Thank you for sharing about your son asking who cleaned the kitchen counters! That is SO COOL that you could answer that you did it yourself! More hopping mushrooms to you!
You said "thanks for including me" in the attagirls with all the smileys and stuff. I would HATE myself if I didn't include you!
When I first got on this board there were several posters who were quick and generous with attagirls over every little effort I made. I believe that is the reason I am doing as well as I am today. I would be a total ingrate to not give the next newbie what I was given. Besides, I get encouraged and excited by all the success I see going on around here, so I like to say so in the best way I know how - finding a cool smiley that seems to fit.
Those same people who gave me so much encouragement are still quick and generous with their attagirls, even though I've been here a few weeks. I call them board angels
I hope you are getting attagirls everywhere on the SOS website
Note: If I ever miss anyone on the threads I frequent, it will never be snubbing someone - honest! I sometimes scan past a post without seeing it for some reason.
Creative I sincerely apologize if I have given the impression that I 0 degree my little areas and they STAY that way! That is not the way it happens
I get on the 0 Degree thread and then look at my little areas real quick to see what needs to be done to get them back to 0 degrees and then do that. Sometimes it takes quite awhile, depending.
You asked about having too many possessions to be able to 0 degree. I certainly have that problem. I have been slowly getting rid of some, but I am currently boxing up and stacking in one room a lot of stuff, too. To get to 0 degree apartment-wide is going to require a major clean-out.
I LOVED your calling people on the 0 Degree thread "distant cousins from a clean tribe"!
! BUT I don't qualify!!! I am just as squalorous as I was when I started on SOS except for a few, tiny areas that I got to 0 degree and and am keeping there. The rest is a nightmare. So I am a member of YOUR tribe - honest!
And there is no "letting" you be on the 0 Degree thread! You are WANTED!!!!! You are delightful company! AND - as it says at the beginning of this thread, this thread is to list anything that gets 0 degreed no matter how
small or how
TEMPORARY - because otherwise I would have to stay off my own thread!!!
!
What I have been doing is finding something - ANYTHING that I could get to 0 degrees. The first thing was a kitchen chair. As I cleaned it off I was totally AMAZED at
how much stuff was piled on it. Then, for several days I had to clear it again before being able to claim it on the 0 Degree thread. By some sort of magic, it is almost alwatys 0 degree now, but not always.
Once The Chair started staying 0 degree, I looked around to see if there was anything else I could get to 0 degree fairly easily. I realized the itty bitty fireplace had been swept out, and though I am not "maintaining" it, because it isn't being used, I could still claim it. Why not?
Then I realized my daughter's bottled drink cupboard is always in pretty good shape. Since her drinks are the only things that ever go into it, it only needs refilling after grocery shopping. Voila!!! One more thing I could claim.
Then I looked for something that
really bugged me being a mess, but looked little enough for me to actually desqualor it completely. That turned out to be the bathroom sink, mirror, medicine cabinent (those itty bitty ones mounted directly over the sink and under the mirror) counter (just big enough for the toothbrush holder, a liquid soap dispenser and couple of bottle of mothwash) and mirror. That was the next thing.
And that little bit of bathroom area has been a
job trying to return it to 0 degree every day! Since it is not just a matter of putting things away, but actually requires washing and drying (mirror and chrome) and has to be done every day, I found it got NOT FUN in a little over a week. But I'm sticking to it. It IS FUN having it clean.
When I finally got over the sulks about having to do the bathroom sink every day no matter what, I added the wall - with it's clock, switch plates and seahorse ornament - to the 0 degree list of stuff.
Somewhere in all this I 0 degreed my work table. It was a big job getting it done - and honestly, some of the stuff that came off of it is in boxes needing further sorting and decision making.
BUT I can claim it!!! And it very nice to have it so I CAN work on it when I need it -
!
So, I would love to have you join us. 0 degree one itty bitty thing - I started with one kitchen chair. Claim it here. Redo it the next day or not - it's up to you -
but you can claim it for that moment. And that earns attagirls whether you feel you deserve them or not, or whether anyone
besides us on the 0 Degree thread agree with it or not (we WILL agree that you have earned attagirls - honest!).
As far as I am concerned, squalor is only one part of your life and you are doing wonderful things with the other parts - housesitting, teaching kids art, etc. I would love it if you could tackle the de-squaloring issue as if it is a game - something fun in which you try to see what you are actually capable of - like a video game or something. That's what I am doing and one of the reasons I love using all the smileys and emoticons that I can, even though it is tremendously time-consuming to try to find them and get them into the posts. It keeps the process a fun/recreation type experience.
I love you Creative!
Hi, Andrea! You are the Queen of the 0 Degree Thread!!! Never miss taking your bows! You have earned them!!
Besides, we love to give them!

Hi, Octopus! I added a missing bracket so you wouldn't be swallowed by an errant URL.
