Eagle--I'm so glad you got to enjoy some peace. You've had a rough go, lately. Did you ever find a chef? Oh, and congratulations on 19 years!!!!! CD Thank you, CanDo. No, so far no chef. I had two interviews set up on Tuesday, but they did not happen. The one for 9:30 am called the evening before to cancel, telling me she thought it over and the commute was too much for her. The other one just didn't show up at all. No phone call and when I left her a message asking if she was having trouble finding the restaurant, she did not call back. That was Tuesday afternoon. Since that time, I have not had any other responses. I am revising the postings on a couple of sites. I have two newspaper ads running. It's rather discouraging and I'm feeling less than optimistic at this juncture. I did talk with my best line cook and gave him a raise and promotion to 'lead line cook' and I think that was a good move. But he is going off to college in the fall, so he won't be with us for much longer anyway. But it gives him more recognition and authority and hopefully will give the other guys incentive to put more effort into learning all they can to move up to a more important position.

Done: Eventually found a number and contacted the electricians who are part of a charity which provides low cost work to disabled people. The electrician is ill and they "overlooked" phoning me to cancel the appointment. They don't know when he will be well again and they don't know why there is an incorrect number on their website and they don't know why their correct number is unavailable through directery enquiries. Wonder if they care? Put book cases back and put back files and books which tidies up the room. Read circular from landlords which misrepresents the position regarding repairs and felt more angry about that. Phoned landlords and spoke to person who deals with insurance claims and they will contact their insurance company and send me the forms - maybe. No communication from people abroad regarding tours etc. and a specific hotel site won't load.
Todo: Keep clearing up Start final letter to landlords before submitting complaint to the regulators Plan travel

Rexroth--Glad you got your wonderful walk in. I cannot imagine the frustration that you must be feeling right now. Talk about aggravation! You are certainly having more than your share of it... Hope things get better &/or resolved soon. You must be looking forward to traveling....
EAgle--thanks for starting the thread. Goodness! I can't believe how hard it is to hire a chef!!! Wow! Are you in a small town? If so, how far is commute from nearest big town? Is there a hmmm...what do you call it? Cooking school or something anywhere near you at all? I sure hope you get the help you need soon.
Tadas: 11:55am *dressed2shoes, teeth, hair, chapstick, contacts. *took DD to vet's office--they seem to like her & even the main dr. asked if she'd be coming today. One vet taught her how to give shots yesterday & she got to give 3 of them! *had to get tough with DS...(hole in wall, but dang it! He did follow directions & has already researched how to repair it & said he would also repair the other holes in a different room--those made by DH when he wasn't being so Dear...a long, long time ago) *finally got some exercise...it's been a week! Gasp! Walked/jogged/ran a little over 2 miles . Time 32 minutes. *Then leisurely walk/training/pulling/being pulled/jogged in the heat with puppy. *Drank 3 glasses of water *made my bed
3:05pm *shredded more stuff from 1988 & a bunch more simply put into recycle bag...I am only about halfway thru this box. I have already learned one thing from this experience...go ahead & toss/recycle envelopes & things that are enclosed that don't need to be saved with tax stuff. It takes a long time to remove statements & receipts from envelopes... No need to keep them, anyway... *showered2shoes
7:23pm *finished blow-drying hair *took DS to Home Depot...he researched how to repair holes in walls on internet & paid for the materials. He has also offered to repair the two my DH made a long time ago. (He may have to end up painting the hallway, den & entry hall to get it all to match. That's a heck of alot of time & work, but that'll "learn 'em, dern 'em") *told Dh what transpired with DS...he is very angry! *went to bank *picked up DD from vet's office *drank 2 more glasses of water *boiled some eggs *got DS to move load of laundry into dryer

Thanks for starting the thread Eagle!
DH and I got off work early today. DH took off to run some errands. He originally wanted youngest DD and I to go along, but we decided to stay home and work on catching up things. Our upstairs heat pump was not working and repair was so expensive we went ahead and got a new one for upstairs and down - NO COOLING upstairs during a record heat wave was AWFUL!!! I was caught up on laundry but it was too hot upstairs to put it away, so I have clean folded laundry all over my kitchen counters. Youngest DD wants to rearrange her room and it has been a year since it had a really thorough cleaning out, so we need to do that too.
So this afternoon I will: Do Dishes DONE! Do load of towels and maybe another load of laundry DONE Put away clean laundry Halfway done, I will finish before bed Help DD take EVERYTHING out of her dresser drawers, eliminate everything that doesn't fit or is damaged or stained DD did this by herself, and little girl from across the street came over and took home a bag of clothes to see if they fitTake the two lingerie chests she does not want anymore out of her room DH will help us with this later Get DH to help us put new dresser (now in garage) up in her room when he gets back This has to wait for tomorrow - we need to vacuum and maybe shampoo carpet, but that can wait until tomorrow Also want to tidy up all my plants and move most everything out onto plant stand on screen porch Almost done - plant stand is clean, several empty pots outside, floor on porch clean and porch dustedI will check back later with how much we got done in a few hours Joy in Virginia

Todo: Rest and take it easy - I don't need to make a descion today and my friend who is coming to see me on Sunday is experienced and can give me advice about my trip
Thats it for now
