I have a few rooms/things that I could start with (starting is always the hardest part, right?) but don't have any preferences. So, pick one for me, please? I could just flip a coin, but this is more fun for everyone. Living room: - Clear off tables - Get rid of computer equipment - Vacuum Dining room: - Clear off table - Pack up charity clothes - Sweep Kitchen: - Do dishes - Clean out fridge - Mop Bedroom: - Make bed - Clear out junk - Cull clothes Just one? After that I should be rolling. So this'll help tremendously. Thanks!

Hi.. I'm not sure if this should be on Listzilla, but to get you started I'll reply and say bedroom.. cos then you will have somewhere restful at night when you're working on the rest of the house.

Thanks! I'll start with the bed, then, it's the easiest.

It never matters where you start ... just that you DO start!!

I agree with DiamondGal,
The bedroom is often the last place squalorees start (myself included!), but I think it ought to be the first. A bedroom should be a haven, a refuge when there's nowhere else to go. It's the place you get your rest, restore your energy, and relax.
There are studies (apparently) that have shown that having a cluttered room, or having too many electronic gizmos in your room (television, clock radio, computer, telephone, etc.) actually interferes with the quality of your sleep. So keep gizmos to a minimum if you can.
That's my vote, anyway. And welcome aboard!

In the old chat room, a long time ago, we used to play a game. We would each list about 6 things, then someone would roll dice (technically one die...) and we would each go do our number. You can do this with pulling cards, too. Or write each item on a piece of paper and draw for it.
Some things would get listed twice, because they would take a long time. It was a fun way for each of us to get some cleaning up done, and it was fun to see what different things we each were accomplishing!
Hope that you enjoy your clean, neat bed!

Maybe one thing you've listed in each room to start. One thing that helped me was a rule: Make the Bed every single day! OK not the whole room spotless. Just make the bed. Nothing allowed on the bed but clean covers, beadspread and pillows. No clothes, books, food, etc.
Ok maybe an occasional napping cat or dog.
These books helped me starting out with clearing my clutterstuff: "One Thing at A Time" by Cindy Glovinsky "The Clutter Busting Handbook" by Rita Emmett
They may be available at the local library.
Good luck...

Welcome! Take a look at my list, Working with One. I have SUCH a mess, I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO! So, I'm just taking it slow, and I have committed to doing at least ONE thing per day. If I do more than that...hey...even better!
