Hiya Celeste, Our Chat Room Hero! Would it be possible for your "Chat Room Changes" thread posting to also be posted on the "Community Information" board? The new standards & operations are not easily findable for new members & current members alike if only notified here in Tech Help. I think it is important for all to know what the Chat Room does & does not entail, but especially the understanding & awareness of the new system of chat logging - which is still being mulled, discussed, & sometimes hesitantly embraced by some room users. Those issues are arising in relation to Chat having previously offered an additional guarantee of safety in sharing, beyond that of posting on our public boards. Also want to say I am so excited that Sidestep's brilliant Challenge Train creation has now been formally acknowledged & given its very own room for use when the main room is hopping & jumping like a Mexican bean, . Challenging still happens consistently in the main room, & so often helps hesitant chatters to get up & moving, but the new room is going to be of great help when things get wild in the main room, perhaps especially during late night weekend party festivities. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your dedicated work & consideration in the upgrades. You ROCK. Okay, this is me scurrying off to get myself into Chat at this very moment to benefit from all of its magical powers, woo! ps: Also meant to thank you for the great new additions to our message board smilies/emoticons! Yayyyy!

You want a version of chat room usage and policies located in the Community Information? I think we can do that. It DOES need to be easily findable by all involved. As for the chat logging - basically no one is going to see a transcript unless the mods have a complaint that a user is abusing our policies. We won't be checking transcripts, scrounging for infractions. You need to come to us to report them. Admins have NO desire to go digging through pages of chat challenges daily, looking for errors in behavior! In the past, there was nothing to support accusations one way or another. Now we can check, if we must, and have a word with offending members. We had NO WAY to protect members from trolls joining to harass members. We couldn't throw them out. Now we have ways to both monitor their comments (at your request) and lock them out of chat. We had people changing their chat name right and left. Most of the time it was amusing and done without malice, but it could go too far if they used it to tease others, or mimic other users. That was a breach in our security. How could be sure that you were telling your best SOS buddy your secrets and not some troublemaker? As far as I know, we never had an issue like that, but it was a concern of ours. That won't happen now. Chat transcripts will delete within 30 days, if not sooner. If you have an issue with trollish behavior, let us know within the same week. The standards themselves are pretty much the same as they always were: identical to the forum. We just had no way to back up the policies. We do now. Hope this helps.

Hiya Celeste!Thank you for your reply. Yep, I didn't see the sticky on the different boards until 'after' I had posted this thread, . It's what I get for not reading first thing. Lots of discussion is happening regarding the logging. Hoping we can all get thoughts-feelings-opinions etc. out there on the table & move along from there. All I know at this point is I have been challenging like crazy & have to get off to bed. It's all a process - working out anything new.
